Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 322: Rage
After the bride and groom received the King’s blessings, Elder Hall felt the King’s gaze on him.
He stiffened his back and sat straight, not sparing a gaze in the King’s direction.
He knew what that gaze meant but he could not bring himself to give away the treasure he brought back after risking his life to a man like Jeremiah.
He would rather have them handed over to Esme privately.
Only he knew how many disasters he had courted trying to get his hands on the jewels from the moon god and the ancient water dragon.
Unbeknownst to Elder Hall’s plight, Jeremiah held Esme’s hand and curtsied to the King before he turned to leave.
’’Stop,’’ Elder Hall pushed himself to his feet.
The wedding had already happened and no matter how he looked, Esme did not look like a happy bride.
But he could not understand why the King could not see that.
Aleister who would be lurking in Esme’s vicinity was nowhere to be seen right now while Esme walked into a fox’s den.
As Jeremiah glanced at him, Elder Hall cleared his throat, ’’I wanted to give you my blessings,’’ he took out the treasures and walked up from them, ’’Princess, these are some small tokens for you. If you need me for anything, I am always there,’’ he extended his hand towards Esme but she did not reach out to take those presents from him.
Jeremiah frowned, ’’My wife is exhausted. I will accept those on her behalf,’’ he smiled elegantly, extending his hand towards Elder Hall, who despite his reluctance, handed those treasures to the man under the King’s pressing stare.
’’We will take our leave, Your Majesty.’’
Before Jeremiah and Esme could take their leave, a cold voice resounded in the walls of the sea court.
’’What is happening here?"
Jeremiah was taken aback for a moment.
He turned around, only to be greeted by the sight of a towering presence stepping past the doors and making his way toward the middle of the court with huge strides.
Adrian’s footsteps slowed down near the place where Jeremiah and Esme were standing.
His menacing gaze roamed across the court, pausing on Esme as he observed her bridal attire before his eyes settled on Jeremiah. As the man took a step towards him, Jeremiah suddenly appeared small in front of Adrian’s huge build.
As Jeremiah snapped out of his reverie, his jaws ticked in displeasure.
He wanted to unleash the real extent of his powers and annihilate all these fools who interrupted him time and time again without a care of their lives.
If not for the sea rules that forbid him from usurping the throne unrighteously then he would have long resorted to brutal ways to get rid of every obstacle in his way.
Adrian’s long arm reached towards Jeremiah’s neck. He grabbed the collar of his robe and yanked him closer, ’’I asked what is happening here?"
Jeremiah’s jaw clenched, his fingers twitching before they curled into a fist, ’’Who are you?" he mustered all his control and kept his voice as gentle as polite.
But Adrian was not having it. His long fingers grasped the collar of his robe even tighter till he was suffocating Jeremiah.
Jeremiah started coughing violently as she looked in the direction of the King, his gaze seeking help, only to find the man crossing one leg above the other.
Rezeph picked up a glass of wine and sipped from it, nonchalantly witnessing the scene as if it was pleasing him.
Jeremiah gritted his teeth and coughed as the man choked him harder. His grasp on Esme’s hand gradually loosened.
When he felt like he could not breathe, he realized the King did not seem to be intending to make a move.
His fingers desperately moved as he chanted in his heart. If he did not use his powers then this man seemed to be keen on killing him right there.
"Adrian, let go of him. What are you doing?" a soothing voice entered everyone’s ears first followed by the sound of light and hurried footsteps.
Jeremiah’s hand stopped moving as Adrian’s grip on his collar loosened but he did not let go.
Through his blurred vision, Jeremiah could see a beauty sashaying in their direction. Her dark skin created a contrast to the sparkling silver that she wore, enhancing her features.
There was a hint of helplessness in her eyes as she rushed towards Adrian, ’’I asked you to wait for me,’’ Ruby said in exas[peration.
Adrian had long recovered from his grave wounds and he was supposed to leave the heavens weeks ago but for some reason, he said that his body still suffered from occasional pains.
So, Ruby let him stay longer so that she could keep an eye on his condition.
A part of her knew that he still was looking forward to the day when he could come back to his world and reunite with his family. But the other selfish part of her wished for his pain to linger a little more so that she could let him stay there and take care of him.
Eventually, the day came when Adrian woke up and said that he needed to go back.
And Ruby decided to accompany him back to the mortal world and escort him safely before she went back to the heavens.
However, there were a lot of children in their serpent clan and most of them had grown fond of Adrian in the time he stayed there.
So, when they learned that Adrian had to leave, all of them resorted to various tricks to get Adrian to stay. When they failed, they insisted on coming with him. So, Ruby had to stay close to the portal properly to block their path.
But Adrian became impatient and ended up coming to meet Esme.
’’I am talking to you,’’ Ruby voiced out helplessly.
’’If I waited for you, I would not know how my sister is being treated like some commodity here,’’ Adrian tightened his grip on Jeremiah’s collar.
’’Adrian.’’
Adrian flicked Jeremiah’s collar, discreetly shoving him away.
Jeremiah stumbled a few steps back before he crashed on the floor with a loud ’thud’ near Elder’s Halls eyes.
Ruby gasped.
’’My hand slipped,’’ Adrian shot her an apologetic gaze but the moment his eyes returned to Jeremiah, his gaze turned cold.
