Chapter 341: Revival

The atmosphere in the royal garden was frigid.

Most of the guards who had ventured to Visteria with Cardan and Luciana were down on one of their knees while they kept their heads lowered and their fists pressed to their chests.

They did not dare to raise their head to look at Aleister who was standing at a little distance from them.

Rowan’s body laid on the grass, cold and pale.

Aleister’s silence caused the whispers and murmurs to gradually slow down till there was a lingering apprehension in the air.

The sound of approaching footsteps made everyone glance in the direction of the person who had come, in hopes of it being their saviour, Esme.

The footsteps gradually slowed down.

Duke Maverick stopped walking the moment he witnessed the sight.

Amidst all the happy days he spent in Defire, this matter had been there in his chest, hollowing his heart.

Rowan was like a brother to Aleister and Duke Maverick did not know how to tell Aleister that Rowan sacrificed himself to save him. Not just that but the man had all those powerful mers pouncing on him till he died a painful and torturous death.

Knowing the things that his nephew had gone through, all he wanted was see him happy for as long as he could.

But in that moment, he knew that the day he dreaded had come.

Aleister tilted his head and met his gaze.

’’He was killed by the mers there while protecting me from them,’’ Duke Maverick steeled his heart as he spoke, his voice solemn.

...

’’Your Majesty, this, this and this...’’ Elder Hall gathered three delicate boxes in front of Rezeph, panting and wiping his sweat as he continued speaking, ’’The serpents are still vicious as ever. While trying to get these ornaments for the Princess, I almost got myself killed...’’

’’With your powers?" Rezeph tilted his head, eyes slightly narrowed.

Elder Hall cleared his throat, ’’As you know, I am not getting young anymore and mortal world had weakened me to some extent. Those serpents are vicious enough to take my life. I escaped because I revealed my identity and how I am related to you. Those people are too loyal to you to take my life,’’ he said smugly.

Rezeph lazily eyed the man who was being idle. Not wanting to bother with him, he shifted his attention to the ornaments, ’’Have these sent to Esme and tell me if she is satisfied with them.’’

Elder Hall was barely able to suppress his tears. He wanted to tell the man that his daughter did not pay much attention to jewelries but under the King’s ’my daughter should have the best of all worlds’ look, he gulped his words.

’Rumble’

’’Your Majesty!" The noise immediately alerted Elder Hall. Within a split, second, the aura around him changed as the man transformed into his real form.

With a ring of red enveloping him, he held a spear in his hand and shielded Rezeph immediately.

The sky darkened and thunderstorms rumbled in the void, shaking the hearts of people every time they roared.

’’Heavenly lightning...’’ Elder Hall’s voice had long lost it’s leisure from before. The old man had transformed into the stern guardian, the elder than once guarded the throne of one of the most powerful heavenly castles, ’’Your Majesty, did they send people from heaven to harm you? Did these fools think that we, the guardians of the sea court, are dead?"

Rezeph’s expression did not budge as much.

Unlike Elder Hall who seemed to be on the edge, Rezeph still sat in his position, quietly observing the thunder, waiting for it to fade. But one after another, the lightning strikes got stronger and more intense, the sound of it causing the earth to ramble as the ground beneath them started shaking.

Rezeph’s expression changed as he pushed himself to his feet and strode out of his bedchamber.

’’Your Majesty,’’ Elder Hall rushed after him.

’’It is heavenly tribulations, not heavenly lightning. Someone has gone against the laws and incurred the wrath of the nature. Death is imminent if the person does not survive through these thunderstrikes.’’

Elder Hall’s expression changed. After having been away from heaven for such a long time, he had long stopped paying attention to such trivialities which is why he failed to notice the abnormalities in the air.

He transformed back to his usual form as he chased after the King, ’’But your Majesty, to incur the wrath of the heaven and summon heavenly tribulation, what could one possibly do?" Even in heaven, it was rare for them to witness heavenly tribulation because people were aware of the rules and they abided by it. Who would dare to play games with the laws of nature and entice death?

The question had just crossed his mind when Elder Hall heard King Rezeph speak.

’’A lot of things, like an audacious attempt to revive the dead,’’ The man’s footsteps slowed down as his voice died.

Elder Hall followed his gaze.

Aleister was standing mid-air, enveloped by hues of golden that shot from his body as a stream of golden thread appeared from his chest swirling all the way to Rowan’s heart as it pierced through the man’s skin.

Thunder rumbled in the sky. Each lightning strike tore through the golden barrier around Aleister and struck his body, leaving garish wounds all over his upper body.

"Your Majesty, s-stop him... Please stop him...’’ The moment Duke Maverick spotted the King, he ran to him as if he saw his saviour, ’’It was all my fault for not having told him about Rowan’s death beforehand. Aleister treated Rowan like a brother and he is unable to accept the truth. I am not aware of what he is doing but he is harming himself."

’’He is reviving the dead,’’ Rezeph glanced at his new friend as he patted the man on his shoulder. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Rezeph’s words stunned Duke Maverick, ’’How... How is that possible?" He knew that his nephew was powerful but how could one revive the dead?

Didn’t that mean his elder brother... his elder sister... all of them could be revived as well? But, that will put Aleister under such great pain.
