Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 184: Clever Annie
Hearing this, Sienna looked at Silas in surprise.
He kept talking about marrying her, always declaring his ownership in front of Nathaniel Thorne—was this really the kind of emotional intelligence a ten-year-old should have?
Feeling her gaze, Silas immediately hid the possessiveness in his eyes.
He gently tugged at Sienna’s finger, "Sienna, did I say something wrong?"
Sienna looked at him, puzzled, "How do you even know about all this?"
Silas raised his brows proudly, "I saw in the short dramas, whenever the male lead meets a rival, he says stuff like that. Am I awesome or what?"
"Since when do you like watching short dramas?"
"Lucy Rhodes told me to. She said all the male leads in those are overbearing CEOs, just like I used to be, and told me to watch more, learn a thing or two, use it to chase you. Otherwise, if I wait too long, I might lose you to someone else."
Sienna frowned, "Your emotional intelligence isn’t mature yet. Don’t watch those anymore, it’s not good for your memory recovery."
Silas nodded, "Okay, I’ll listen to you. I won’t watch them anymore."
"Come on, let’s go home."
Sienna was about to take Julian’s hand and head upstairs, but Silas quickly snatched it away.
He gripped Sienna’s hand tightly, a trace of anxiety in his eyes.
"Sienna, I’m kind of scared of unfamiliar places. You have to protect me."
Sienna gently stroked his head, "Don’t worry, this is where I grew up. I’ll show you some childhood photos later."
Hearing this, Julian’s eyes widened with curiosity, "Mom, I wanna see too!"
"Okay, we’ll look together."
Seeing this scene, Nathaniel Thorne’s lips curved with a bitter smile.
He could tell the three of them got along well; there was real love between them.
But, for a family so in love, why had a child already come, but still no wedding?
Nathaniel kept a calm expression and made a welcoming gesture, "Let’s go, my mom’s probably gotten impatient waiting."
This was an old neighborhood, the hallway a little worn out.
The stairwell was piled with all sorts of old junk.
It made the already-narrow hallway even tighter.
But even so, Silas still hadn’t let go of Sienna’s hand.
Seeing the three of them standing at the doorway, hand in hand, Mrs. Thorne immediately came over and bent down to scoop Julian into her arms.
"You must be Julian. You look just like Sienna did as a child. Grandma made all your favorites, so eat lots later, okay?"
Julian nodded sweetly, "Thank you, Grandma. You’re so pretty; I bet your cooking’s amazing. I’ll eat more and grow up fast, so I can protect Mom!"
Mrs. Thorne’s smile couldn’t have been bigger.
She glanced at Sienna, "This kid’s got a sweet mouth, just like you did—like he’s got honey on his lips. His eyes look like yours, and his hair’s a bit light, just like you had."
Sienna simply smiled and said nothing.
Julian wasn’t really her son; how could he look like her?
It was all just coincidence.
Julian loved nothing more than hearing how much he resembled his mom. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
He excitedly clapped his little hands, "I’m Mom’s boy, of course I look like her! Grandma’s boy looks just as good as you do!"
Mrs. Thorne chuckled, pinching Julian’s cheek, "You’re just too cute. Grandma always wanted a grandson like you. But my son is so hopeless—doesn’t even have a wife yet."
Julian’s eyes went wide, "That’s easy! My auntie doesn’t have a boyfriend. She’s really pretty too! She’d make the perfect daughter-in-law for Grandma. Auntie and Uncle are totally a match!"
Sienna watched Julian’s chattering and tapped his little butt in amusement.
"If your aunt hears you trying to sell her off, she might just whack you."
Julian squinted and grinned, "I’m not scared! If Auntie marries Uncle, he won’t compete with Dad for you anymore. Mom, am I a genius or what?"
Everyone burst out laughing at his words.
Nathaniel Thorne ruffled Julian’s hair, "Well then, thank you so much."
Julian waved his hands, "No need, no need! We’re all family—saying thanks is too formal."
Everyone was focusing on Julian, chatting around him, and Silas started to get jealous.
He hurried over and handed the gifts in his hands to Mrs. Thorne.
"Aunt Thorne, I’m Silas, and these are gifts from Sienna and me for you. Please accept them."
Seeing all the gift boxes were high-end, Mrs. Thorne immediately waved it off, "We’re all family, no need to be so polite. I’ve always treated Sienna as my own daughter—always hoped she’d grow up so I could have her as a daughter-in-law. Looking after her is my duty. If Nathaniel’s dad hadn’t had that accident all those years ago, and I hadn’t been so caught up, Sienna wouldn’t have ended up being taken in by the Prescott Family."
Remembering the past, Mrs. Thorne’s eyes reddened.
When Grandpa Paxton passed, Mr. Thorne had lung cancer and was in the hospital receiving chemotherapy.
The treatments ate up all their savings, and they racked up a ton of debt.
Back then, she’d wanted to keep Sienna with her, raise her herself. But she was afraid the kid would suffer if she stayed, so she went with Old Master Paxton’s arrangements and let the Prescott Family take her away.
Though she never found out what Sienna went through in those years, the fact that she came back with a new face and a son out of wedlock—well, that said enough. She must’ve had a tough time.
Seeing her a bit emotional, Sienna patted her back, "Aunt Thorne, I’m back now, aren’t I? I’ll visit you often from now on."
All Silas heard was Mrs. Thorne’s comment about marrying Sienna.
Hearing that, he tightly grabbed Sienna’s hand.
He said nervously, "Sienna’s mine, don’t try to take her from me."
His eyes showed a boyish awkwardness as he squeezed her hand tighter and tighter.
Sienna quickly soothed him, "It’s just grown-ups joking, don’t take it seriously."
Silas puffed his cheeks and looked at Sienna, "I’m jealous that he grew up with you and I didn’t."
"I grew up with you after I turned fifteen."
"But I don’t remember any of it. Sienna, how did we grow up together? If you have time, help me remember it—doctor says that’ll help my memory come back."
When Silas said that, his eyes were full of sincere, boyish hope.
Sienna felt her refusal stuck in her throat.
She could only nod, "Okay, I’ll help you remember when I have time."
After dinner, Sienna took Silas and his son upstairs. Coming back to this home, Sienna’s heart was full of emotions.
She remembered the last time she’d returned—it was after that night with Silas. She’d run here alone to avoid him.
But he’d ended up finding her.
He pinned her to the couch and made love three times, until she cried and begged, promising never to run away again—only then did Silas let her go.
Sienna was lost in memory when she suddenly heard Silas call her.
"Sienna, have I been here before? This couch feels kind of familiar."
