Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 4: You Are Mom
Upon hearing the news, Sienna fell into confusion.
Her period had always been irregular, and any slight stress would cause it to be delayed.
Moreover, being in a war zone, where every day was about snatching life from the grasp of the King of Hell, she hadn’t even noticed that her period had been absent for three months.
A child over three months in the womb was already starting to move, and she couldn’t bear to abort it.
She wanted to keep this child.
In this world, where she had no relatives, she wanted a child to accompany her in the still of the night.
However, she didn’t dare apply to return, knowing that once she left, Silas Prescott would capture her back.
He had always disliked children and would absolutely not let her keep it.
Sienna could only stay in the war zone at the risk of her life.
To protect the child, she applied to transfer from the front line to a rear medical station.
A few months later, because of a breech position, she had a C-section to deliver a baby boy. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
After the surgery, she suffered a hemorrhage and went into shock, barely being saved.
This allowed her to reunite with her son.
She planned to send them both away once the war subsided a bit.
But just then, mercenaries revolted.
Many elderly, women, and children were injured, and with not enough personnel in the war zone, Sienna was sent to the front line to provide support.
She had to entrust her child to the care of the woman who looked after her.
The ruthless mercenaries brazenly shot medical personnel, violating international regulations.
When the bullets came for her, Chloe Nash shielded her with her body.
Before dying, she said to her, "Sienna, you have a baby, live strong with him."
But when she returned to the medical station with Chloe Nash’s last wish, she found it had already become rubble.
Her son, along with the medical staff and patients, had all been reduced to ashes.
Sienna kneeled on the ground and wailed in agony.
In one day, she not only lost her best comrade but also her beloved child.
Sienna narrowly escaped with her life, but her face was ruined.
Out of gratitude to Chloe Nash for sacrificing herself and to evade Silas Prescott’s pursuit, Sienna provided photos of Chloe Nash to the doctors during her reconstructive surgery.
She wanted to live on for Chloe Nash and support her parents in their old age.
Recalling all this, Chloe Nash (now) still felt a lingering fear.
She hugged the Nash Family parents and wept bitterly.
Mrs. Nash gently wiped her tears: "Good child, don’t cry, from now on, you are our daughter Chloe Nash."
Chloe Nash nodded tearfully: "Mom and Dad, I need to quickly know about Chloe’s past life patterns, I fear Silas Prescott will detect something amiss."
Silas was meticulous and highly intelligent.
Exposing a single clue could lead to a complete downfall.
She must fully understand Chloe Nash’s domestic network, former classmates, family, and past events.
Mrs. Nash pulled her up and said: "Your dad has prepared all that for you, you just need to familiarize yourself, don’t worry, we won’t let that madman drag you back."
——
Silas Prescott didn’t return to the old mansion, but went to the apartment where he and Sienna once lived.
There were Sienna’s clothes, her skincare products.
The bed even still bore traces of their past intimacy.
Silas leaned against the headboard, picking up Sienna’s favorite stuffed bear, inhaling deeply.
His eyes red, his voice hoarse, "Sienna, what do I do, this doesn’t smell like you anymore, how can I go on living."
He took off his shirt, revealing snarled scars across his chest.
Long, slender fingers gently traced the crooked word ’Sienna’.
As if caressing Sienna’s face.
"Sienna, you’re just a few centimeters from my heart, can you feel it beating for you?"
He let out a bitter laugh, "But I can’t feel you anymore, I can only carve you in again."
"Sienna, once I find you, I’ll make sure you know the consequences of betraying me."
Just as he picked up the knife to carve another letter, the door swung open.
A fluffy head popped in from outside.
Julian Prescott’s bright eyes looked at Silas.
Seeing his father with a knife in hand, he hurried over, chubby hands gripping Silas’ wrist tightly.
He shook his head incessantly, indicating he didn’t want his father to hurt himself.
Seeing Julian standing there, Silas was a bit surprised: "What are you doing here?"
Julian fished a card out of his small backpack.
[Missed Dad.]
He had mild autism from a young age, and at four years old, he had never spoken a word.
Communication was through cards made by Silas.
Initially, Silas didn’t want this adopted son.
Never having received parental love himself, he didn’t know what kind of love to give.
So he didn’t like children or consider having any.
Yet this child seemed inherently tied to him.
He loved hugging him, smiling at him, snuggling into his neck for kisses.
At that time, Silas was lost in the grief of losing Sienna.
He suddenly felt that he and Julian were kindred spirits.
He’d lost motherly love, and he’d lost Sienna’s.
From then on, he gradually grew close to Julian.
Seeing the card, Silas’ voice was rough: "If you miss Dad, you can still see me, but if Dad misses your Mom, she’s lost forever."
Julian quickly patted his small chest, trying to say, "You still have me, Dad."
Silas lifted him onto the bed, ruffling his hair: "Wait with Dad for Mom to come back."
The next early morning.
Julian had packed his small backpack by himself, waiting at the door for his dad.
Seeing his dad emerge from the room, he quickly ran over with his little legs.
He pulled out a card from his backpack.
[Great-grandfather]
Silas lifted an eyebrow: "You want to see your great-grandfather?"
Julian nodded eagerly.
A pleasing smile spread across his face.
In that moment, it was like Sienna years ago.
Whenever she wanted to go out for fun, she smiled like that to persuade him.
"Brother, I’m just going out to eat with my classmates, don’t worry, they’re all girls, I’ll be back by nine."
She wrapped her arms around his neck, softly kissing his lips.
There was flattery in her eyes.
He couldn’t resist Sienna’s teasing, flipping her over onto the couch.
Biting her ear, he said, "Before you go, feed me first, okay?"
In the end, he was satiated, and Sienna had no energy left to go out.
Silas bent down to pick Julian up.
Why did he always see Sienna in this child?
They were clearly unrelated.
He brought Julian to Old Master Prescott’s hospital room.
Chloe Nash and the team of experts were conducting an examination for Old Master Prescott.
Seeing that everything was progressing well, the hospital director excitedly said, "Indeed a rare genius in medicine, with Dr. Nash’s intervention, Old Master Prescott’s condition immediately improved, I believe tomorrow’s operation will be successful."
Chloe Nash smiled, "Old Mrs. Kane, you flatter me, I’ll need your support in tomorrow’s operation."
"Of course, I’ll be there throughout."
As they were speaking, Chloe Nash suddenly felt someone hugging her leg.
She looked down and saw a handsome little boy.
The boy’s bright eyes blinked at her.
Chloe’s heart inexplicably trembled a little.
If her child were still alive, he’d be about this age too.
She crouched down, pinched Julian’s cheek, and spoke softly.
"Do you know me?"
Julian rummaged through his backpack, finally pulling out a card for Chloe Nash.
On the card were four big characters.
[You are Mom.]
