Entangled with My Cousin's Fiancé-Chapter 374: Mom Was Scolded by Teacher Adams
Lola Gold’s mother, Ruby Ross, still lives in the same place. The conditions are rudimentary, but she keeps it clean and the price is cheap.
On the way, Lola Gold called ahead and bought some fruit to bring over. She was really happy when she got married, but now, with this situation, she’s worried Ruby Ross might be upset again.
However, upon entering the small courtyard, she hears voices inside, as if there are guests present.
"Mom, I’m home." Lola Gold carries the things inside and sees Caleb Sullivan and his mom come out first, with Ruby Ross behind them.
"Lola, you’re here." Caleb Sullivan steps forward and takes the things from her hands. "My mom and I came over to check on your mom."
Ruby Ross smiles and says, "They came yesterday, insisting on changing my refrigerator and TV, and they wouldn’t let me tell you."
"Come in, come in." Caleb Sullivan’s mom, Natalie Reyes, approaches warmly, holding Lola Gold’s hand. "Caleb and I know you’re usually busy, and your mom’s not well, so we thought we’d come by more often. You don’t mind, do you?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"No, not at all." Ruby Ross answers on Lola Gold’s behalf, "We’re about to become one family, we really should thank you for looking after us."
Caleb Sullivan and Natalie Reyes look at Lola Gold.
Lola Gold forces a smile, "My mom is right, thank you for your trouble."
"It’s no trouble, no trouble at all." Caleb Sullivan and Natalie Reyes exchange a glance, relieved.
They know Caleb Sullivan caused big trouble this time, yet Natalie Reyes thought that since Lola Gold is a filial daughter, and as long as Ruby Ross likes Caleb Sullivan, Lola Gold would surely give Caleb Sullivan another chance.
Their gamble proved right.
Lola Gold can guess their intentions, but she can’t make a scene in front of Ruby Ross. Otherwise, Ruby Ross would be heartbroken.
Moreover, this place is densely populated; if things get noisy, everyone outside will know, and there’s bound to be gossip in front of Ruby Ross, even a single spit could drown you.
Lola Gold can only suppress her frustration.
While making lunch, Ruby Ross pulls Lola Gold aside, "What’s the matter? Did you argue with Caleb Sullivan?"
"No, we’re fine." Lola Gold lies.
Ruby Ross sighs, "Lola, marriage is a lifelong affair. You don’t have to worry about me; I’ll be fine no matter what."
"Mom, I understand, don’t worry." After the issue with Christopher, Lola Gold already made Ruby Ross worried, and this time, she absolutely can’t make Ruby Ross cry again, "Mom, I’m just about to get married, and have a bit of... pre-marital jitters."
Ruby Ross laughs and shakes her head, "You silly, you’re still a child. If you feel unsettled, why don’t you move back temporarily?"
"No need, plus Yolanda and Ella are back. I have to stay with them." Lola Gold approaches and hugs Ruby Ross, "Mom, you’re really wonderful, rest assured, your daughter is doing great too."
After lunch, Lola Gold actively pulls Caleb Sullivan out for a walk. Once they leave the courtyard, Caleb Sullivan kneels down.
"Lola, I really understand my mistake this time. I promise I won’t let it happen again. Plus, my mom said she’ll repay the ten thousand." Caleb Sullivan raises his hand and vows earnestly.
"Stand up, what if someone sees you." Lola Gold helplessly pulls him up.
"If you don’t forgive me, I won’t get up," Caleb Sullivan says tearfully, "I don’t care if people laugh at me, and shouldn’t have borrowed money online for the sake of saving face. Lola, I really know what I did wrong."
"Alright, I forgive you, get up." Lola Gold shakes her head helplessly, "But remember, if I find out it happens again, even if we’re married, I’ll divorce you."
"I guarantee it won’t." Caleb Sullivan says firmly.
In the evening, Miss Greenwood picks up Little Ella from school, and the little one takes a piece of paper from her backpack, "Mom, Teacher Adams said you need to sign."
"What is it? Let me see." Miss Greenwood takes a look and sees it’s a notification, "Ella, are you going to the zoo with the kindergarten tomorrow?"
"Yes, that’s great! Ella can go to the zoo with her brother." They talked about it during the day, and Little Ella almost forgot after school.
Miss Greenwood wrinkles her brow while reading the notification. It implies that if parents agree for their child to participate, they have to sign. However, if anything happens tomorrow, it’s not the kindergarten’s responsibility. If parents disagree or don’t sign, the child gets a day off tomorrow.
Feeling uneasy, Miss Greenwood decides to call Elsie Adams to confirm.
She tries twice before the other side picks up, "Sorry, Teacher Adams, am I disturbing your rest?"
"What’s up?" Elsie Adams’s tone is evidently impatient.
Miss Greenwood hesitantly starts, "Well, I saw Ella brought home a notification that needs a signature..."
"Isn’t it clear enough on the paper?" Elsie Adams sighs, "Miss Greenwood, I’m really busy, after the kids leave school, I have lots to do. If every parent acted like you, calling for everything, who would help me get my work done?"
"..." Miss Greenwood laughs awkwardly, "Really sorry, Teacher Adams, you know for Ella leaving kindergarten..."
"Don’t always feel that only your Ella is precious, trying to gain special treatment. I’m telling you, there’s no such thing here." Elsie Adams coldly says, "Miss Greenwood, to be clear, if you’re so worried about this and that, then don’t let Ella go to kindergarten, keep her under your watch, isn’t that best?"
"I’m sorry, truly sorry," Miss Greenwood wonders if the previous incident of waiting with Ella and Ann upset Elsie Adams. She senses Elsie Adams’s hostility toward her, so she tries to hit the crucial points, "How about this, Teacher Adams, which kindergarten are you visiting tomorrow? I’ll bring Ella there to join you, alright?"
"No, I said all kids are treated equally, no exceptions." Elsie Adams thoroughly loses patience, "If you’re worried, don’t sign, let Ella have a day off tomorrow. I have things to do, bye."
Before Miss Greenwood can speak again, the call is already hung up.
"Mom," Little Ella, who slipped in unnoticed, looks at Miss Greenwood with a bit of an innocent expression, "How about I don’t go, I’ll stay home with you tomorrow, okay?"
She truly wants to go but knows she’s sick, and it seems Mom just got scolded by Teacher Adams.
Teacher Adams is really fierce, Mom must be feeling troubled, and she doesn’t want Mom to get distressed.
Miss Greenwood’s nose tingles, she kneels down in front of the little one, "Ella doesn’t want to go to the zoo with brother anymore?"
"It’s okay." Little Ella shakes her head hard, as if shaking off her tears, "When Ella grows up, I’ll go with brother. He won’t mind."
