Entering Apocalypse in Easy-Mode-Chapter 599: Brilliant Light
Clyde heard Mina’s scream cut through the battlefield and for the first time since the storm inside him awakened, his focus snapped.
Something in his chest tightened sharply. The grin on his face did not disappear, but it changed. The excitement twisted into a colder and sharper feeling of anger. His eyes turned instantly toward her position.
Then his body reacted.
The lightning around him surged.
[Pure Lightning] flared even more violently and expanded outward in a sudden burst of white-blue brilliance. The air cracked louder as the energy intensified. Arcs snapping wildly across the ground and up the surface of the shield pressing against him.
The shield-bearer felt the force behind Clyde changed into a stronger force than before.
"What—"
Before he could finish, the lightning exploded.
The shield-bearer was thrown back as if struck by a collapsing wall. His feet tore through the rubble as he was pushed away. His armor grinding under the pressure.
A groan forced its way out of his throat as he lost ground. His shield trembling under the sudden surge of power.
Clyde was already gone.
Lightning detonated beneath his feet and his figure vanished in a blinding flash.
Across the battlefield, the agile woman had already moved to kill.
Her dagger rose and she angled it precisely toward Mina’s head. Her expression remained focused and her eyes wide with rage. She intended to end it in a single clean motion.
Then she felt a faint tingling crawl across her neck.
It spread instantly across her skin like static before a storm. The air around her shifted. The temperature spiked. The space felt charged.
Her instincts screamed.
She turned. At that moment bright light filled her vision.
A figure coated in violent lightning was already upon her.
He moved so fast that her body could not react. Her muscles had not even begun to respond when he was already within range.
The Demonic Sword moved in a single slash.
The pale bone blade passed through her body without resistance, wrapped in a surge of pure lightning that split the air apart.
For a second, everything went still for the woman. Then her body separated.
The upper half slid away from the lower, both collapsing onto the rubble with two heavy thuds. Blood followed, spilling across the broken ground as the electricity dissipated from the cut.
Clyde did not look at her. He was already in front of Mina.
The lightning around him still flickered intensely, crawling along his arms and across the surface of the Demonic Sword. It illuminated him in sharp flashes, outlining his figure against the dust-filled air.
Mina looked up. For a moment, she did not move.
Her eyes widened slightly as she took in the sight of him. The way the lightning wrapped around his body, the sheer intensity of the power radiating from him, the speed he had just shown. Since when did he have this? And why did it feel this overwhelming?
She stared at him, frozen for a brief second in something close to awe.
"Mina?" His voice cut through it.
She blinked, forcing herself back to the present.
"Yeah... I’m... fine," she said, her breathing still uneven. "I guess. After I drink my potion, I think I’ll be fine."
Clyde looked at her for a brief moment with a sharp and assessing gaze. Then he gave a small nod.
That was enough.
His attention changed again immediately. He lifted his head and looked across the battlefield again.
The spear-wielder was already pushing himself back up despite his injury. The shield-bearer had regained his footing, dragging his shield back into position. In the distance, the caster was already gathering magic again, her expression more cautious now.
Three left.
"I’ll take care of them," Clyde said simply.
Before Mina could respond, lightning burst again.
His figure disappeared from her sight in an instant.
The ground where he had stood cracked under the force of his acceleration as he launched himself back toward the shield-bearer.
Mina did not waste time.
She reached for her inventory, pulling out a health potion. Her hands moved quickly despite the pain as she uncorked it and drank.
The liquid burned slightly as it went down, spreading warmth through her body.
The wound in her thigh began to close slowly. The pain dulled just enough for her to stand again.
She took a deep breath and tightened her grip on her daggers.
Then she lifted her head and was ready to fight again because the battle was not over yet.
The moment her footing stabilized, she pushed off the rubble and dashed forward. Her body still protested but she ignored it completely. Her target was clear. The caster.
If that woman was left alone, she would keep interfering.
Mina would not allow that.
She moved fast, weaving through broken concrete and scattered debris. Her daggers held low and ready. Dust trailed behind her as she closed the distance.
The caster noticed her immediately.
Her eyes narrowed, and the magic gathering around her hands shifted. The patterns changed, condensing faster. Then she released it.
Several fireballs formed in rapid succession and launched toward Mina in a staggered pattern.
They came fast and precise.
Mina did not slow down.
She twisted her body, slipping past the first fireball as it exploded behind her. Heat washed over her back, but she was already moving again.
Her movements remained sharp despite her injury.
The caster’s expression tightened.
Then a presence cut across Mina’s path. She felt it before she saw it.
Mina halted her forward momentum instantly, her daggers rising on instinct.
The spear-wielder stepped into her path.
He stood between her and the caster, blood still trailing from the wound on his side, but his stance was stable and ready.
His eyes locked onto hers.
"You’re really lucky you’re with him, you know?" he said. "If not, you’d already be dead long ago."
Mina did not flinch.
"I don’t need you to remind me," she replied. "I already know."
Her grip tightened. Then she moved.
Her daggers flashed forward in rapid succession, striking from multiple angles. High, low, then a sudden thrust toward his center.
The spear-wielder reacted immediately.
His weapon moved to intercept each strike. Metal clashed against metal in quick bursts as he deflected her attacks.
Mina pressed harder.
She stepped in closer. Her blades moved faster. The spear-wielder adjusted. Neither gave ground.
Meanwhile, across the battlefield, another clash erupted.
Clyde had already reengaged the shield-bearer as well.
From a distance, the caster watched everything.
Her eyes moved between the two battles.
She saw Clyde. Her expression hardened.
She could feel it clearly the pressure coming from him was different. It was growing. If they allowed it to continue, it would become uncontrollable.
He was the threat.
Her hands lifted again, magic gathering more intensely than before.
She made her decision. Clyde had to die first.
