Era of Magic and Martial Arts-Chapter 340 - 324: Feng Mu Bestows Honor Upon Me
Lou Rui listened to Guan Chong’s description, his heart pounding wildly.
He stared intently at Guan Chong, watching as he slowly dragged a worn-out cardboard box from the ground, carefully pulling out a brand-new pair of scissors, a gleaming hammer, and an old-fashioned weighing scale.
At that moment, Lou Rui’s heart seemed to stop beating, his breath nearly frozen, and the sight before him sent shivers through his soul.
However, just as Lou Rui was about to faint from fright, Guan Chong’s voice suddenly became gentle, carrying a hint of eerie warmth:
"But now I feel all this no longer attracts me as much. My hatred for you seems insignificant now.
Because there’s light shining into my heart, warming my world.
So, I’ve decided to give you a chance. Do you want to seize this opportunity?"
As Guan Chong spoke, his hands suddenly gently caressed Lou Rui’s cheeks, his fingernails pressing into the soft skin beneath his eye sockets.
In his dreams, this was where he started tearing off skin, as it was the most delicate, and closest to being seen.
Lou Rui’s eyes widened, daring not to blink, his voice trembling as he asked:
"Will you let me go?"
Guan Chong looked at Lou Rui, a warm smile imitating Feng Mu appeared on his face, and he said gently:
"No, but I’d be willing to let you die a little quicker. So, I’ll ask you one last time, do you want to accept my goodwill?"
As it turns out, a smile is the best language, more moving than any intimidation, and far easier to accept than cold hammers and scissors.
Lou Rui stared fixedly at Guan Chong, finding it difficult to overlap the warm smile on his face with the crying, tear-streaked face in his memory.
Lou Rui lamented inwardly, resigned: "Still looks better when crying!"
A grim smile appeared on his face, and he said in a low voice: "I’ll do whatever you want, as long as you make it quick for me."
No one wants to die, but if death is inevitable, who would want to endure the process?
So, is it the process of dying that’s terrifying, or is it death itself that’s more terrifying? This is a question worth pondering!
Mainly because Lou Rui weighed only 141 jin, he truly didn’t have the courage to face himself at 43 jin.
Guan Chong slowly opened his hands, taking out a neatly folded list from his pocket, densely filled with names.
He handed the list to Lou Rui, a deep and indescribable look in his eyes as he spoke slowly:
"Pick any three people from this list, and I need evidence linking them to you and this morning’s Death Row uprising. You can provide that, right?"
Lou Rui’s mouth opened into an "O" shape. He guessed that the Internal Inspection Department intended to frame others through fabricated evidence, but he had never heard of such a method.
They didn’t even provide a statement or evidence for him to sign; instead, they asked him to come up with everything?!
Guan Chong had no such doubts because it was Feng Mu’s idea, and he had absolute faith that Feng Mu’s approach was the best.
Guan Chong frowned and asked, "What, can’t do it?"
Lou Rui’s eyelid twitched as he saw Guan Chong’s right hand reach for the scissors on the ground. His mind raced faster than ever before, and he quickly said:
"No problem, I will definitely fabricate three people..."
Guan Chong raised an eyebrow: "Hmm?"
Lou Rui paused for a moment, hurriedly correcting the flaw in his words:
"No, I mean I’ll definitely confess the details and evidence of the three participating in the Death Row uprising with me."
Guan Chong’s smile gradually widened, pure as a carefree child’s: "Good."
Two hours later, Lou Rui, racking his brains and overflowing with inspiration, crafted several high-quality confessions.
The confessions were so lifelike, it seemed each word was drenched in Lou Rui’s sweat and wisdom.
The details of the case were intricately linked, with call records and text messages corroborating each other, leaving Guan Chong amazed as he watched from the side.
How realistic were they?
So much so that if you submitted these to the Patrol Office, even the renowned Detective there would consider the three accused in the confessions to be irrefutably guilty, without chance of overturning.
Yes, to make the confession more believable, Lou Rui carefully selected three of the closest people from the list; he happened to have call and message records with them on his phone.
And so, Lou Rui died.
He died sitting on an iron chair, his neck strangled by a hemp rope, head drooping, eyes bulging white as they stared at the weighing scale on the ground, face contorted in a grotesque mix of crying and seemingly... a satisfied smile.
Guan Chong carefully removed the hemp rope from Lou Rui’s neck, then with his left hand holding the rope and his right hand steadily carrying a bag full of evidence, he walked out of the interrogation room with steady steps.
He quickly approached Feng Mu, half-bowing straight, under Feng Mu’s encouraging gaze, then respectfully handed over everything in his hands.
Gong Qi had been impatiently waiting. He loved the puzzle-solving segment most of all. He reached out, grabbing the stack of confessions, eyes fixated on the paper, fingers swiftly flipping through, scanning each line meticulously.
Feng Mu, on the other hand, took the list, glancing at the three names circled in red. He softly read out the names, and the faces of several members of the Internal Inspection Department instantly flushed, eyes glowing with excitement.
Though it wasn’t their own names, they were more thrilled than hearing their own, because these were names they had longed for day and night.
Only a few names on the list were written by Feng Mu himself, while most others were penned by the Internal Inspection Department members.
Essentially, Feng Mu had given the lion’s share of the cake to the team members. Such a selfless and generous leader isn’t entirely unheard of in this world, but the people present had never encountered one in their lifetime and might never do so again.
At this moment, a shared thought arose in the hearts of many Internal Inspection Department members:
"Feng Mu might be the best minister we encounter in our lifetime. We must pledge our unwavering allegiance to follow him!"
Yet Feng Mu was not someone to hog all the credit. His gaze slowly swept over everyone present, his voice gentle and humble:
"Why not all thank Guan Chong? He has set a great example for everyone this time."
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone turned their grateful gazes to Guan Chong.
Guan Chong stood up, a faint flush on his face, eyes shimmering with uncontrollable excitement. He had never imagined that one day he would receive so much gratitude and respect from others.
And, without a doubt, it was all the honor bestowed upon him by Feng Mu!
