Chapter 3448: Lighthaze

Being the disciple of a Celestial came with its own advantages. If not for that, Alex could only imagine how much of an earful he would have to receive from Amberscale, or any other individual who was in charge of keeping everything in check.

He passed along the seeds to Whisker in his Soul Space and asked him to work with Ray to find a way to get them to grow. Alex suggested placing a lake in the center of the island near the third mountain so that once the lotuses had formed, anyone could use them.

The center of the island would be the location where time moved the fastest when compared to normal, so in just a few years, enough time would have passed for the flowers to grow.

Ignoring that, Alex left with Amberscale and visited a few other places around the continent before it was time for him to return.

Bladedance had just finished her cultivation when he returned, so Alex met up with her. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

It was time to leave for the Drunken Spirit continent.

"I have talked to Moonspirit and told him of our imminent visit. We should be leaving now," she said.

Alex nodded.

A strange sense of excitement filled him. The Wine God’s place was one that he had been hoping to visit for a while now, mostly in expectation of what he might come to learn. Considering the Wine God was one of the most well-known scholars, there had to be a lot of different things he could learn.

A middle-aged man with light purple hair came to visit them a few hours later. He introduced himself as a Reverend of the Wine God and went by the name of Lighthaze.

"His Drunkenness is awaiting your arrival, senior," the man said, bowing down toward Bladedance.

Bladedance nodded and gestured for him to proceed.

The man brought out his ship and soon everyone got onto it.

The teleportation formation leading to the other continent was in the west, so they had to travel for a short period before they could reach it. During that time, Lighthaze spoke with Bladedance, explaining how the Wine God had been looking forward to meeting her again.

"Our meeting was sadly short back then, but I couldn’t help it," Bladedance said. "I had to start cultivating right away."

"Of course," Lighthaze said. "His Drunkenness understands that and has been waiting for you to come out of your cultivation session. He had planned on opening one of his best flasks in celebration of your arrival."

Bladedance said nothing and simply nodded a little.

The man turned toward Alex. He had been sneaking glances from time to time, but this was the first time he fully looked at him.

Alex imagined that his Half-God aura was pulling his attention toward him, but when the man said what he said next, it was clear that there was more to his glances than that.

"The last time I saw you, you were sent to the Immortal Prison realm. I honestly find it hard to believe that you are standing here today before me," the man said.

Alex raised an eyebrow. "You were there back then?" he asked. He didn’t remember the man at all.

"His Drunkenness decided not to go to the Alchemy Tournament, so as his Reverend, I had to go in his stead," the man explained. "I was included in the decision-making discussion that sent you to Hell."

Alex narrowed his eyes. "Am I to believe that you chose to send me to Hell?"

The man gave an awkward smile. "Forgive me, but you can hardly choose anything when it is clear that is what the other gods want as a verdict. We did not dare speak up against them."

Alex cocked his head to the side. "May I ask what your verdict would’ve been had it been only you?" he asked.

"Imprisonment," the man said. "I won’t deny that I would’ve done my best to capture you altogether. Killing you was out of the question, but I would try anything I could to impair your chances of impacting the world with your presence."

Alex couldn’t help but blink in surprise at the man’s candor. He did not hesitate in the slightest.

"That being said, I wouldn’t have sent you to Hell. Hell is already on the verge of being destroyed, if the Hell Emperor’s words are to be fully trusted. We cannot let loose anyone in there."

Alex smiled upon hearing it all. "The Hell Emperor wasn’t lying. Although I alone might not have been able to do much, anyone stronger than me would’ve created an imbalance. Strong cultivators are truly a bane for that world."

There was no lie there. Just Bladedance’s presence alone had disrupted life there in a way that anyone of fair skin and black hair was immediately considered to be an omen of death. Such a thing was not needed again.

"What about right now?" Bladedance asked. "What would you have done had I not been present here?"

The man hesitated for a moment, giving Bladedance a strange look.

"Don’t worry. I won’t take offense to anything you could say here."

The man nodded. "I know of your benevolence, senior, so I shall speak my mind," he said. "If he were not your disciple, I would’ve captured him and sent him to His Drunkenness and then negotiated a price with the Storm God."

Bladedance chuckled slightly and turned toward Alex. "You should be happy I’m around."

Alex gave a wry smile.

"Of course, I also wouldn’t have done anything if His Drunkenness had suggested I do nothing. Just like now, since you have his invitation, I would’ve upheld it to the best of my capability. I listen to my god before anyone else," Lighthaze said with a reverent look on his face.

"Your loyalty is to be admired," Bladedance said. "It’s clearly better than a certain someone who backstabbed me."

The man could hardly find any words to say in that situation, so he simply turned around and let silence fill the void for now.
