Eternal Life: I Have the Favor System-Chapter 127 - 120: Node 3
"But what?"
Chu Lingguang asked curiously.
"Take this stack of rough paper with you. After you get to the academy, write down everything you see and learn on it. When you come back, just give the paper to me."
Hei Hu pulled out a roll of rough paper with two charcoal pencils tucked inside.
Hei Hu vividly remembered the trade Chu Lingguang had made with Da Wang at the Martial Arts Hall. Chu Lingguang had learned Skillful Force from Da Wang but had failed to teach him Hundred-step Piercing Willow in return. It wasn’t that Chu Lingguang was holding back; he simply didn’t know how to teach it.
That was why Hei Hu had prepared this roll of paper long ago. Whether or not Chu Lingguang had sought his help today, he had planned on giving it to him to take along.
"Alright, I’ll take it."
Chu Lingguang didn’t overthink it. He untied his pack and placed the rough paper inside.
He then went to the docks with Guo Wei and the others.
"Remember what I told you before. When you get to the academy, listen more, watch more, and speak less."
Guo Wei reminded him again.
"I understand."
Chu Lingguang nodded. Carrying his pack and holding the Lightning Spear, he boarded Feng Junyi’s ship and waved to the small group on the shore from the stern.
"Junior Brother, remember to draw the stances of the techniques too!"
It had suddenly occurred to Hei Hu that he might not understand Chu Lingguang’s written notes, so he quickly shouted after him.
"Alright!"
Chu Lingguang called back.
"Draw what techniques?"
A familiar voice came from behind him.
It was Lin Longde.
He was a disciple from a prominent local family in South City who had placed third in the Daoist Examination. He would be joining Chu Lingguang at the academy for a month of immersion in Martial Arts.
"My senior brother is worried I won’t remember what the teachers teach at the academy, so he told me to take a lot of notes."
Chu Lingguang explained.
"Your method may be clumsy, but it’s practical."
Lin Longde said with a nod.
"Young Masters, Lord Feng requests your presence."
A Deputy came over and said.
Although Chu Lingguang and Lin Longde were only Martial Scholars, their top-three placements in the examination suggested their futures were limitless. Moreover, they were young men full of possibilities.
The Deputy treated them as equals.
"Please lead the way, sir."
Lin Longde said, clasping his hands in a salute.
Chu Lingguang, remembering Guo Wei’s words—listen more, watch more, speak less—simply smiled and nodded at the Deputy before following behind Lin Longde.
The ship had three decks.
Besides the two of them, everyone else on board was part of Feng Junyi’s retinue of guards. Several of the Martial Artists among them had an extraordinary bearing. Led by the Deputy, the two arrived on the second deck and saw Feng Junyi practicing his Sword Technique.
’If the chief examiner of the South City Daoist Examination didn’t know Martial Arts, wouldn’t he be a laughingstock?’
Feng Junyi’s Sword Technique was as agile as a snake, fluid and soft, accompanied by the continuous hum of his blade.
SWISH!
Suddenly, he flicked his wrist, and the tip of his longsword thrust toward the two of them.
Chu Lingguang saw that Feng Junyi’s thrust was like a blinding flash of light over the Canal. Guo Wei had said that the resonance points for Unity of Man and Gun varied greatly; Feng Junyi’s resonance point for Unity of Man and Sword seemed to be the fusion of his longsword with the morning light.
WHOOSH!
Lin Longde swept his spear out, unleashing the power of second-level Skillful Force, intending to entangle Feng Junyi’s longsword.
The young man had seen that Feng Junyi’s Sword Technique was a feint, a test for the two of them. Thinking about Feng Junyi’s high status and unfathomable strength, he chose to resist with his spear, hoping to receive some guidance from him.
Chu Lingguang took a step back.
’Lord Feng is just and strict; he won’t mind Lin Longde’s impoliteness, especially since he intended to test us anyway.’ He set down his pack to carefully observe the changes in Feng Junyi’s Sword Technique. ’When his sword presses forward later, I should also take the opportunity to ask for some pointers if I can.’
(Tomorrow is an auspicious day for Feifei to move into a new home, and there’s a lot to help with, so today’s and tomorrow’s updates will be later than usual. But I definitely won’t stop updating, and I’ll continue with explosive releases. There will be another large Chapter before midnight tonight.
Sorry to keep you all waiting. I’ll get back to writing. For those of you who go to bed early, you can read it tomorrow morning. Thank you all!)
