Eternal Love: The Billionaire's Relentless Pursuit-Chapter 678 - 671: I Really Like You
After dinner, Bai Yiran clamored to take a bath.
This place was very remote, without running water, and the water used was all from the well. Moreover, there was no such thing as a water heater, so every time Bai Yiran wanted to take a bath, they had to boil water first.
This was a large courtyard, with three houses inside, two large ones and one small one.
The small house was set aside by Yao Zhiqing for bathing. The men serving under her were all rough and unrefined, bathing once a week was considered diligent for them, especially in a place without water heaters, they were even lazier when it came to bathing.
But Yao Zhiqing and Bai Yiran were different, they had to bathe every day, or they’d feel uncomfortable all over.
So, every evening, there was someone dedicated to boiling water for these two women so they could bathe.
Speaking of bathing, it was actually about placing two buckets of water inside, one of hot water and one of cold water. Then they would give you a big basin to mix the hot and cold water yourself, after which you would simply wash yourself off.
When Bai Yiran bathed inside, the two people stood guard outside. The place was well-sealed, and since Yao Zhiqing also bathed there, Bai Yiran wasn’t worried about being peeped at while bathing.
Returning to the room after bathing, Bai Yiran was astonished to find Wu Chengzu inside.
Bai Yiran stood at the doorway, not wanting to go in.
Wu Chengzu looked up to see Bai Yiran standing there, hair still damp and eyes wide like a startled fawn, "Come in, close the door."
"Come in" was directed at Bai Yiran, and "close the door" was directed at the person responsible for watching over Bai Yiran.
Bai Yiran felt someone push her from behind, causing her to stumble a few steps into the room, instantly followed by the sound of the door closing behind her.
She glanced back at the now tightly shut door, then turned to look at Wu Chengzu, who was seated in a chair, instinctively hugging her bathing supplies tighter.
Seeing Bai Yiran’s wary reaction, Wu Chengzu gave a helpless smile, as if reverting to his previous gentle demeanor, "Yiran, I’m really sorry. Did my actions today scare you?"
In truth, Bai Yiran really wanted to feel Wu Chengzu’s forehead to see if he had a fever and lost his mind. The contrast was too stark, he didn’t seem like the same person.
Seeing that Bai Yiran didn’t speak and remained where she was, Wu Chengzu continued somewhat despondently, "The words you said echo in my mind all day long. I think you’re right. Jingjing’s suffering today was caused by me. I just didn’t want to face that fact or take on the responsibility. So, I shifted everything onto you." Wu Chengzu’s deep eyes fixed on Bai Yiran, "Consider my behavior earlier today as a father’s helplessness, can you?"
Bai Yiran raised an eyebrow, reducing his previous erratic actions to that of a helpless father in one sentence. If he became helpless again in the future, would he act out once more?
"Will you let me go?" Bai Yiran didn’t want to dwell on Wu Chengzu’s behavior, she only cared about this one question.
"No," Wu Chengzu replied succinctly.
Bai Yiran nodded knowingly, "Then there’s nothing more to say. I’m tired, please leave, I want to sleep."
Directly asking him to leave, Bai Yiran saw Wu Chengzu remain seated, unmoving.
"Wu Chengzu, before you came, everyone here respected my wishes, never giving me trouble!" That was indeed the case; Yao Zhiqing never made things difficult for her, nor did Yao Zhiqing’s men.
Wu Chengzu chuckled lightly, stood up, and slowly walked towards Bai Yiran, "Yiran, you speak as if you are a guest here rather than someone who has been kidnapped."
Wu Chengzu’s sudden movement towards her caused Bai Yiran to panic and shift to the side, but she was still a step too slow. Wu Chengzu, with his long arms and legs, had her pinned against the wall.
"Wu Chengzu! Get away from me!" Bai Yiran tried to break free, but Wu Chengzu held her firmly against the wall.
Wu Chengzu’s eyes gleamed slightly as he gazed unblinkingly at Bai Yiran, "Yiran, I like you very much."
