Evil dragon has a warm heart-Chapter 142 - 141 Frost Titan Legend
Chapter 142: Chapter 141 Frost Titan Legend
Chapter 142 -141 Frost Titan Legend
The Beast King is a unique existence; perhaps their combat power is not stronger than an ordinary fantasy beast, but the ability to command the same species of ordinary wild creatures is a huge advantage indeed.
In the Glowing Valley, the King of Ebony-waisted Snakes, the Pangolin King, and the Great Horned Deer King all hold extraordinary value, providing territorial resources for the species.
Russell’s Red-eyed Rat King was also a Beast King, just at the beginning of developing its potential.
But even at the beginning of developing its potential, one could feel its extraordinariness.
The reason being, ever since Russell tamed the Red-eyed Rat King, Wuyao Snake Manor had never faced a rodent infestation again. The rats no longer stole food or destroyed furniture and instead sought food in the wild or went to “supply points” to eat.
In every settlement, Russell had people set up supply points, where food was offered at regular intervals to grow the rat population.
The Treasure-Hunting Rat Squad and Sentinel Rat Squad were under construction.
However, to truly take shape, it might still be necessary to wait until the contract with the Red-eyed Rat King was made, so they could communicate more clearly.
The team stopped briefly at Great Wind Manor.
Lady Ingrid had prepared a gift, entrusting her son and his family to deliver it to Merlin Rain-Longflower.
“I’m old now, I won’t visit Earl Merlin at Bluebird Castle this year,” Lady Ingrid prattled on, “Let the little sparklers, on behalf of grandma, deliver the birthday blessings to Earl Merlin and wish him to live to one hundred ninety-five!”
The founding monarch of Shadowflame Duchy, the Dragon Knight Quentin Shadowflame, lived to be one hundred ninety-five, the longevity record of the entire country.
Thus, wishing someone to live to one hundred ninety-five is a very auspicious saying.
“Grandmother, we will surely deliver your blessings to Grandpa,” said Roland, waving his hand, no longer lingering.
Having bid farewell to Lady Ingrid, the team continued northward into Red Bat Grotto, and passing through Red Bat Grotto, they entered a world of ice and snow.

This time there were no overwhelming Knight Regiments, just a small squad of Knights escorting four carriages.
They progressed slowly along the icy Great Wall.
Smoothly reaching the first Cold Spring Point, they rested briefly before moving on to the second Cold Spring Point, and by nightfall, they had arrived at the third Cold Spring Point—their speed much faster than the Knight Regiments clearing the Snow Demons.
Camp was set up for the night at the Cold Spring Point.
Servants, wrapped in thick clothes, busied themselves preparing dinner.
Baron Roman, with Lady Meryl wrapped in a coat, quietly stepped up to the patio above the Cold Spring Point, appreciating the night scene of the snowfield.
Russell had intended to rest, but Lola came looking for him: “Father and mother went to watch the stars, Russell, shall we go too?”
“What about big brother?”
“Roland went on patrol.”
“Alright, I’ll take you to see the stars.” Russell smiled and tousled Lola’s hair, messing up the hair she had finally managed to comb neatly.
“Annoying Russell!”
“Do you still want me to accompany you to look at the stars?”
“Hmph… Russell, no, brother.” Lola had learned to change her face, she used to call her brothers and sisters by their names, but now she had learned to call them brother.
“Let’s go!” Russell took Lola by the hand, leaving the Cold Spring Point.
In reality, the night sky over the snowfield had lost all attraction to him; during his time clearing the merchant roads, he had been on night watch and had grown tired of watching the stars.
However, now, watching the stars with his sister, he felt a different mood altogether.
The snowfield, too, had its sunny and overcast days; even when the sun was out, the wind and snow continued to howl, but the sunlight was brilliant. At night, the stars shone just as brilliantly, allowing a view of the endless, clustered stars across the entire sky.
“There are so many stars. I always thought the snowfield was overcast and you couldn’t see the stars,” Lola exclaimed in admiration.
“The blizzards of the snowfield are the workings of the Snow Demon from another realm,” Russell explained softly, “In actuality, the snowfield also experiences spring, summer, autumn, and winter.”
“Spring, summer, autumn, and winter?”
“Yes, those are the four seasons. Back in ancient times before the Snow Demon invaded our Dragon Sleep Continent, there were distinct seasonal changes…”
Most of the history of Dragon Sleep Continent is now buried under thick ice and snow. The Snow Demon’s invasion triggered a cataclysm that almost annihilated everything, and mankind struggled to survive for thousands of years, with almost all of its illustrious civilization lost.
It wasn’t until the dragons awakened that humanity began to rise again, creating the civilization we have today.
However, the opposing ecologies of ice and fire have been completely different from the seasonal changes of ancient times, with warm seasons and ice periods alternating.
For nearly half the year, or about six to ten months, the warm season prevails. This is followed by a relatively shorter ice period, which might last two months or stretch up to six months, and is not fixed.
During the warmest two months of the warm season, the term “summer” from ancient times is still used, known as the scorching summer.
The other seasons, spring, autumn, and winter, have been lost in the river of time, and only a few words that have survived to this day might contain remnants of their essence.
For a child like Lola, the meaning of spring, summer, autumn, and winter is no longer understood.
Even most ordinary people are unaware of the existence of the four seasons, with their concept being limited to alternating ice periods and warm seasons.
“The four seasons are formed by the power the sun provides us… But the power of the Snow Demon is so strong that the sunlight can’t penetrate the snowfield, leading to endless blizzards that howl for ten thousand years… Only the dragons can tear through the Snow Demon’s frost,” Russell shared.
“So that’s how it is!” Lola said, finally understanding, “But why did the Snow Demon invade the Dragon Sleep Continent?”
“That, we’ll have to ask the Snow Giant about.”
Roland, having walked over at some point, tossed a steaming baked sweet potato to both Russell and Lola and said, “You’d best eat it while it’s hot… Let me tell you, Snow Giants are nothing to worry about,” and didn’t proceed with his patrol.
He squatted next to the two, nibbling on his baked sweet potato and casually said, “To truly know where the Snow Demon comes from, we’d need to catch one of those legendary Frost Titans!”
“Frost Titan? What’s that?” Lola asked, eyes wide with curiosity.
Russell perked up his ears; there was very little information about Frost Titans, having only seen fleeting mentions in some knight novels, but the descriptions were vague and inconclusive.
Roland grinned and said, “The Frost Titan is the real source of the Snow Demon. The entire Dragon Sleep Continent’s freezing over is due to this Frost Titan. The frost that shakes off from it turns into those Snow Demons, and its spit becomes the Snow Giants.”
“That sounds just like what you would read in knight novels,” Russell said, somewhat disappointed by Roland’s story.
Shrugging, Roland continued, “Few have even seen a Snow Giant… Only Lord Utreras from our Glowing Valley has truly seen a Snow Giant… Well, to be precise, he’s seen a foot of a Snow Giant.”
One day, as Utreras battled in the vast snowy world, with the Shadowflame Dragon fighting a Snow Giant in the distance and their figures obscured, all Utreras saw clearly was a giant foot descending from the sky shattering the earth, and then he passed out.
If it hadn’t been for Count Merlin leading the remnants of the Knight Regiment on a retreat and incidentally rescuing him, Utreras might have frozen to death on the snowfield.
Attempting to dig deeper, Russell asked, “Big brother, do you know any more legends about the Frost Titan?”
Roland spread his hands: “That’s all I know; I’m not a scholar versed in mystical lore.”
“Meh, boring,” Russell yawned, stood up, and prepared to return to Cold Spring Point, “Let’s go, Lola, time to sleep…”
