Evil Mage Cultivation: The Immortal Enslavement Path-Chapter 84: Assassination Attempt
Inside the Han family territory, things looked different from the Luo plains or the rough peaks of the Flaming Cloud Sect. Here, thick forests filled with nature energy stretched in every direction. Bamboo groves, flowing rivers, and the constant clatter of wildlife surrounded you.
Where Luo ancestors tried to manipulate nature to their will, and the Flaming Cloud Sect fought against it, the Han focused on living in harmony. Some of the bamboo here had been growing since the day it was first planted, generations ago.
In the middle of a gravel sea stood the great house of the Han family leader. Han Shi danced with a blade in his hand. After taking Zhong’s advice, he switched his training method and advanced quickly in his sword art.
Each stroke cut through air like a brush swimming. As brothers, they shared the same water element. But where Han Suwen was a double vortex of tide, Han Shi flowed more like a gentle river.
When his sword moved, a thin layer of sword Qi rang out and carved the stone sea into a painting of a dragon. It refined the ground stone smaller, just as previous generations had done on this same soil.
Then he stopped. His sword pointed downward.
To think you would return here, after the mess you caused, brother."
The one he spoke to was none other than Han Suwen, who walked up from the secret passage beneath the gravel road. Feng Zhou followed close behind.
Using the former owner’s memory, Han Suwen could pinpoint the location of every secret passageway they had. Reversing the mechanism was easy work for him.
"That woman was always going to be your downfall. But I didn’t expect it to reach this level. You bring an enemy inside."
Han Rui was on his way to an emergency meeting with the Luo clan about Han Suwen killing Wu Han.
So right now, only the three of them were inside the house area.
Han Suwen made sure of that.
Unlike the strict formations the Luo clan used, the Han territory was easy to manipulate and set with traps. While they talked, twenty illusion arrays and formations were already active. Ready to misdirect anyone and stop them from leaving.
"Are you afraid? You knew this day would come." Feng Zhou sneered as he pulled his axe from his storage ring. The axe glowed with flame underneath the moonlight. Heat radiated from it and ramped up fast.
"I did. But I wonder why it was my brother who brought you here." Han Shi looked at Han Suwen, demanding an answer. "I know you always envied me. But this isn’t like you. Something must have happened."
"Sorry brother. I just wanted a change. But that would be impossible while you’re still alive." Han Suwen smiled and turned to Feng Zhuo. "Do you need help?"
"No need!" Feng Zhou blasted forward and rushed toward Han Shi, axe in hand.
Feng Zhou’s axe came down like a falling rock, fire trailing behind it in brilliant orange streaks.
Han Shi didn’t move to block. Instead, he flowed around the strike, his body moving like water coursing between stones.
The axe split the space where he’d stood a moment before, and the gravel beneath it exploded outward, molten droplets spraying in all directions.
"You’ll have to do better than that," Han Shi’s voice carried no heat.
His sword remained pointed downward, almost casual.
Feng Zhou grinned. "You!"
He pressed forward, each swing of his axe more savage than the last.
The fire element within him burned bright, and with each strike, the temperature in the courtyard climbed.
The bamboo nearby began to wilt, leaves curling and browning at the edges.
The gravel beneath their feet started to glow faintly in patches where his flames had licked the ground.
That kid improved a lot. Han Suwen commended Han Shi’s progression.
Training method always correlated with one’s element.
In the past, Han Shi focused on training hard, which matched people born with earth element to strengthen. But his true power lay in the ability and flow of water.
That was why, after he relaxed, his skill that had stalled for so long began to improve drastically in a short period.
Because even if it was the wrong training, it was still training.
Hard work always paid off one way or another.
What he did was just show the boy how to clear the dam that weakened his flow.
"How did you grow so strong?" Feng Zhou couldn’t land a single hit on Han Shi.
The other hadn’t even struck back once.
They were supposed to be tied, only below Luo Lan!
But now Han Shi had already gone a step above him.
"Hate to admit it, but that doctor is a legit miracle." Han Shi smirked.
"After I’m done with him, I’m coming for you next."
With disappointed eyes, he turned toward Han Suwen.
Even if they were brothers, they were too distant. Since the day their mother died, they hardly looked at each other’s faces.
Han Suwen couldn’t because he was ashamed of his path.
Han Shi wouldn’t because he hated what his brother chose.
Because unbeknownst to the real Han Suwen, Han Shi always saw his younger brother as the more talented one.
Could use both hands and perform arts flawlessly.
The only thing holding him back was a lack of responsibility to step up. He always hid behind his talent so he wouldn’t have to work hard for anything.
That way he didn’t have to carry anyone’s expectations.
A true waste of potential.
But that was what HE knew.
That was why he chose Han Suwen instead of Han Shi in the first place.
After confirming with his own divine sense when he healed Han Shi, it was fact.
Han Suwen could and always could have surpassed his brother.
And if he had done so, maybe he could have become a big obstacle for his goal.
Maybe you could have saved your wife. How does that make you feel?
Even if it was just a shard of consciousness left behind in the sea of soul, it still hurt the real Han Suwen.
"Can you afford to get distracted now?!" Feeling insulted seeing two brothers converse while fighting to the death, Feng Zhou blasted in with his axe.
A loud crack of flaming explosion followed, doubling the speed of his attack.
"See if you can dodge this!"
The axe blurred into a thin flaming line.
Han Shi sneered.
His feet carried him across the glowing gravel without apparent concern for the heat.
A thin sheen of sword Qi wrapped around his blade, and he faced the axe head on.
Flowing River.
The sword met the axe. The moment they clashed, Han Shi twisted his blade and pushed the axe arc downward. It struck the gravel and blasted rock into pellets of molten flame.
Feng Zhou’s axe got stuck in the ground. He couldn’t lift it.
Han Shi controlled the central point of force. Combined with his superior physical strength from all the hard training, the clash couldn’t bring Feng Zhou victory.
"Is that all you’ve got? You disappoint me for someone who was once my rival. Or should I be proud of myself? I might finally be able to stand against Luo Lan."
Han Shi smiled as he drew back his sword, preparing for a finishing strike.
But Feng Zhou smiled back. His eyes grew wide as his hand blazed with flame.
Blazing Cloud Palm!
The fire erupted from his hand and blasted toward an unsuspecting Han Shi.
Unlike the ring of fire that knocked out Wu Han, this time it was a cloud of flame spewing out like a roaring dragon. It burned everything in its path with fire.
Han Shi switched flow mid-stance. With the shift, its power halved. But with his new mastery, he cut through the roar of flame like splitting a wave. The flame and heat that still hit him burned away his flesh. The smell flowed out.
"I admit you’ve become stronger. But so have I." All this time he’d been dual cultivating to harness the balance of Yin and Yang within him.
So, he could use fire techniques to the fullest. But he never imagined he’d need it against Han Shi.
"Looks like this is going to bring me more fun than I expected." Han Shi switched stance. The flow of Qi steadied as it streamed out from his dantian and shimmered around his whole body, glowing like reflection under moonlight.
Feng Zhou sneered as he picked up his axe and engulfed his other hand in fire.
It spread around his body in the shape of flaming armor.
Han Suwen stood nearby, smiling as he observed.
This would be the first time he got to see how real cultivators fought. And it was a battle between the number two and three geniuses of the town.
He couldn’t contain his excitement.
Don’t disappoint me now, young one!
