Evolving Classes In The Apocalypse-Chapter 29: Second of Many
"Hey boy... I’m going to have to ask you to stop that."
Archer said it with a small, uncomfortable frown on his face.
I twisted my head in an eerie manner and gave him a lifeless look.
"Stop? He is going to kill you and me if I stop."
As the first stone landed, I threw another. His hands lunged up to catch it as his head snapped back, but the stone grazed his pinky finger and slammed against the corner of his lips. I had aimed for his teeth, actually.
Another one followed immediately and closed in on his throat. He caught that one and swung it back at me, but his trajectory was completely off even though the stone whistled with a cold and dangerous sound.
I could only stare in envy before I flung yet another stone.
"Hey! I said stop!! What you’re doing is wrong!!"
"You need to pick a side..."
I threw again without stopping, still speaking through the motions.
"You hate what he’s doing. And yet you hate that I’m fighting to protect myself. Wrong? Would you stand and watch him kill you if you were in my shoes?"
The stone flew again, this time two. I threw them in succession, tracing the same red line.
The first one smacked the corner of his eye, and as his head rocked back, the second slapped the same point. Finally a little tear appeared and a line of blood slowly trailed down across his eye.
I paused when I saw it. Light exploded from my eyes.
"Goodness! What took you so long? I was starting to think you were incapable of bleeding!"
He glared at me. His gaze was like that of a tyrant being torn down, heavy and full of hate.
He didn’t say anything for a moment. And just glared.
Then he turned to Archer... his gaze tired and weary.
At that moment Archer looked at him... and gritted his teeth.
From where I stood, I spoke while throwing another stone.
"Don’t you dare release him."
The stone met his ear and tore the edge. Blood poured out.
’Nice! Another score!’
I bounced two stones in my hand and threw them. Then turned to Archer.
"He’s doing this to garner your pity, he is a shameless man. The moment you release him, he’ll make you stop moving again and kill you this time, after which he will kill me."
The stones flew through the air like arrows and slammed against his temple and cheek.
He did not turn away from Archer. Did not say anything. He merely held that stare.
And it was working... making Archer very uncomfortable.
They were after all comrades that worked together. They served the same motherland.
He finally opened his mouth.
"Archer..."
Another stone slammed against his teeth before he could say anything more.
Archer turned to me and shouted.
"I said stop!!"
I chuckled with a corner of my lips raised.
"Yea, make me."
The stones flew again.
Three landed in quick succession, all on his face. Then five followed, battering him and throwing his head back.
He hadn’t moved from his initial position and was still stuck in Archer’s liquid.
However, the liquid began to crack.
Archer flinched the moment he saw it. Galahad’s eyes dropped and they glinted.
His malevolent grin returned that instant and he pulled harder against the solidified honey.
The cracks began to spread.
Seeing this, I turned to Archer and yelled.
"You retard! What do you think you’re doing?!"
Archer faltered for a moment, staggering back and looking at his breaking honey fearfully.
"I... I, I didn’t do this! My stamina, my stamina must be running low!"
I rolled my eyes. There was nothing I hated more than people who didn’t pay attention to themselves.
’Oh well, time to run I guess...’
As I turned to break into a sprint, fragments of the solidified liquid burst into the air and Galahad was gone.
The next thing I knew was a heavy blow the size of a rock slamming into the back of my head and taking me down, my face biting into the stone below.
Archer had also tried to move but couldn’t at all. He was stuck in his position, unable to do anything but stare.
The Ascended Adept grabbed my hair and pulled me up by it.
"Strange... you truly are strange. I had thought your ability was related to being able to reduce your weight. But I was wrong... you got a fragment from the attack. And your Class skill, it has to do with nullification, doesn’t it?"
He brought my face close to his and looked me in the eye.
I grinned and spat on his face.
He snapped his head back, eyes closing and expression contorting in irritation, all within reflex.
He wiped the spit away with the back of his hand then he grabbed a part of my face and pressed his thumb against my left eye.
"Wai... wait! Ahhh!!"
I didn’t know as this guttural voice tore out of my throat, what I knew was that the retarded bastard truly dug his thumb straight into my right eye.
"A damage or two won’t hurt. I’m sure the clients will understand when I explain to them how much of a foe you are. Besides, they can just heal you."
He dug his thumb even deeper, blood pooling out of my eye socket.
"Aahahhhhh you bastard!! I’m going to kill you!! Haaaaaa!!!"
From crying and yelling from the pain, I didn’t know when I started laughing. Laughing and laughing like a psycho.
The man laughed too.
"Well it looks like you’re having fun, might as well take the second one, eh?"
While he angled his hand toward my second eye, I suddenly felt something enter my hand. I flinched when I noticed it.
I didn’t care what it was... I drove it straight at his throat without a waste of time. Only then did I notice what it was.
It was a fragment... a pale-yellow fragment. And it was the pooling honey beneath my feet that had extended it to my hand.
The fragment punched into his throat and immediately blood began to pump out. He staggered back holding his throat, pressing the fragment there.
He glared at me with cold pain in his eyes, then glanced back at Archer too. Who was finally wrenched from his grip.
Archer broke into a run and flowed with his honey in liquid state.
I lurched forward and exploded in the air, raising a knee to his face. His head flew back. I grabbed it and fell into the momentum, crashing him to the ground, then I grabbed the fragment.
He placed his hands on it, trying not to let me take it. And I truly couldn’t contest against his strength.
As Archer appeared behind us, Galahad moved one hand to grab my hair, but Archer caught his wrist with both hands and was struggling, trembling behind me.
I glared and grinned viciously at him.
"Since you want death so badly, how about I serve it to you with your own hands!"
I slammed my hand against his own, using his strength against him.
And the fragment pierced further into his throat, causing blood to spray outward like a burst spring.
His movement slowed... and then stopped.
Archer was also relieved, falling back onto his rear.
As for me, I stayed on the man, staring at his gutted throat with a cold expression on my face that was now splattered with blood.
Then a torrent of messages hit me.
