Evolving My Mythic Legion With A Legendary Skill-Chapter 48: Makeshift Settlement
"Finally! We are here." After hours of travel, they had finally arrived near the survivors.
Around a distance of two hundred metres from the humans the vultures had seen, Neil halted his domain.
The surroundings seemed to have already been cleared up, there were no beasts around.
"I will be going first to talk to those humans, all of you wait here." Neil ordered.
"My lord... be careful." Ileana spoke, her beautiful face filled with worry.
Neil nodded, after giving a few instructions he walked out of the domain.
Putting the swords away, he kept the armor around his body and walked through the heavy snow.
"Hoo finally I am going to meet some normal humans, how long has it been, sigh." As he walked, he was leaving behind a trail over the snow.
After walking a little, he could clearly hear two men talking about their mundane stuff.
Hearing the faint sound, they became alert.
"Get ready, there might be danger around." One of the two spoke as his fists began to glow with a red glint.
"Hello, I am a human." Neil spoke as he approached the two with his hands raised.
They were both in the 2nd Origin, it was no surprise, this prison like place lacked anything but gene points.
A little more time and Neil himself would evolve.
"Who are you? Are you from this settlement?" the other guy was holding throwing knives as he eyed Neil suspiciously.
After all, it might even be a monster disguised as a human.
After taking a deep breath Neil spoke: "I am a lord, my domain was teleported here. I am... Lukas."
"I even talked with someone called Hiroshima from here." He added.
"Oh, check it, and you, don’t move!" the man with glowing fists warned while the other ran back.
It seemed communication through AI was difficult here too, that worked in Neil’s case.
He didn’t want to reveal his true identity, not when he might die right after getting out of there.
The wait stretched for a bit over five minutes, thankfully Neil could communicate with Nemo.
So he could get every update.
HUFF HUFF
As the man with throwing knives ran back, breathing out fog, he nodded.
"Yeah, just confirmed, he is telling the truth. Besides, it seems he is not even at the bronze class. Man, how did you even survive for this long?" putting away the throwing knives, the middle aged man spoke.
"Alright, welcome to this makeshift settlement. I am Joe, come with us to meet Hiroshima, the warden of this place." As he spoke, his fists finally stopped glowing.
Neil nodded, he knew very well that he was taking a risk, but this was necessary.
While making short conversation, the two guys walked towards the small settlement.
The fog around it seemed thicker, it was very well hidden.
After a couple of minutes, a wall as high as 6 metres appeared before them, it was made from bricks and seemed quite sturdy.
Several men were guarding the entrance.
"This place has over 1,500 people, now that we are stuck here with no rules or punishments, people could really go wild.
Only after Hiroshima took charge did this place become liveable, though food is still a big problem." Joe spoke, seeing Neil he didn’t look like those psychos.
"A new survivor? Hmm, go in." After slight checking, Neil was allowed inside and the sight surprised him.
Inside the high walls, several hundred domains were present close to one another, almost all of them were still made of wood.
They were all still at the 1st Origin, it was no surprise, finding domains would be quite difficult here.
With a domain at the 1st Origin, its lord could still evolve to the 2nd Origin, but to go to the 3rd Origin they would need to evolve their domain first.
But what surprised Neil was the fact that they were all present so close, it might be related to someone’s domain ability.
As they walked inside, he noticed the poor living conditions of the people here.
Even the clothes could barely protect them against this cold.
Soon he saw a building that had two floors, it was not a domain but seemed to have been made by the people here.
"This is Hiroshima’s house and office, let’s head in." Joe said, while the other guy left.
Right upon entering, Neil noticed the wooden house in one corner; the quality of domains here was much worse than his own.
But this one wasn’t as bad.
"This is Hiroshima’s domain, the centre of the settlement." Joe said, this floor was the warden’s living area.
They directly climbed up to the 2nd floor.
KNOCK KNOCK
"Enter."
As the two walked in, Neil scanned the room and finally his gaze landed on the two people inside.
"Are you Lukas?" one of them stepped forward, stretching his hand, with a friendly smile.
With short brown hair and a fit body, the man seemed to be in his thirties.
"Yes, and you are?" Neil shook hands with him, looking calm.
"I am Hiroshima, the current warden of this... settlement, and this is Zeke." Saying so, he pointed to the other guy who just nodded.
Zeke didn’t seem the type to speak much, he looked quite serious.
"Why don’t we talk while taking a tour of this place, I am sure you have many questions." Hiroshima said, he seemed like a nice guy and a good leader.
But appearances could be deceptive, Neil didn’t let his guard down.
’He is at the 2nd Origin Gold! He is quite strong.’ Neil thought, he stood no chance against him.
The feeling of wanting to get stronger faster grew in his heart.
"Okay." Neil nodded, as Hiroshima led them out. Joe left since he had other work.
"As you already know, this place is Carceral Citadel, a strange prison we know very little about. Some people have been here for more than a hundred years. Even I... have stayed here for over twenty years now."
Hiroshima’s words surprised Neil, but without interrupting, he just followed the warden outside the building.
"This place is filled with dangers, none of us can be sure that this settlement won’t completely disappear the next day. So we could only depend on each other to survive as long as we can while trying to find an exit." He said grimly.
Neil nodded, understanding the meaning behind those words.
"Anyway, tell me about yourself, did you abandon your domain? If it is within a range of a kilometre, then we can still pull it here."
Hiroshima suddenly changed the subject, as they walked through the streets formed between the domains.
"Oh, you can do that? Yeah, it’s not too far." Neil answered, but he still wasn’t completely sure he was going to bring his domain here.
"Yeah, with my ability I can pull any domain within a range of a kilometre, that’s how this settlement was created." Hiroshima then went on to explain other basic things.
There was a heavy lack of food and other supplies.
They could trade with the humans outside, and the human settlements actually helped them.
After all, this unknown territory was a great piece for research, and the only connection were these humans.
So food from outside was exchanged a bit cheaper, it was all just for personal interests.
It would be a great boon if they could locate this place.
