Chapter 60: Filthy Rich

The group chatted and drank until late into the night.

That day, Neil didn’t receive a single beast corpse.

But he wasn’t troubled by it. In this prison, he was their only and best option, and all of them had gone to hunt.

Despite his high tolerance against poison, Neil was a bit tipsy after drinking for the first time.

The wine they purchased was of very high quality and made for powerful lords.

He returned to his room and again, Ileana made up some random excuse to find her way into his bed.

...

It wasn’t late in the morning when Neil finally woke up.

He felt warmth and softness pressing against his body, it was a comfortable feeling.

But the headache and the slight discomfort in his belly took all the comfort away.

’Ugh, hangovers are really annoying, I should hold back on drinking.’ He thought, rubbing his eyes open.

He was instantly greeted by the beautiful sight of Ileana’s face, her voluptuous body pressed against his.

Under the sheet, she wore a thin night gown, so he could almost feel the sensation of her warm and smooth creamy skin.

Entangling himself from her tight grasp, he sat up.

The movement seemed to stir the healer from her sleep, with her lidded eyes she looked at him.

Even in her sleepy state, she seemed to know about Neil’s hangover.

Extending one of her hands, she gently pressed her soft palm against his cheek.

There was a faint glow and the uncomfortable feeling disappeared completely.

"Are you okay... lord?" she questioned and fell asleep right after.

Neil laughed lightly seeing this, it was almost as if she had made taking care of him a life goal.

"Thanks..." he whispered, caressing her head before finally getting out of bed.

After freshening up, he woke Ileana up and soon they headed towards the kitchen together.

She was actually quite talkative and energetic, filling the depressing environment with a cheerful one.

Right as they were all eating breakfast together, Neil heard noises from outside.

’They are here!!’ he exclaimed.

After finishing up quickly, the group got to work.

There were still so many troops he needed to purchase and he needed a whole lot of shards.

And this time’s haul was going to be higher than Neil’s expectations, way higher!

"Alright everyone, no need to crowd up. Everyone will get the food, so just line up." Neil said in a loud voice that made everyone quieten up.

"Good morning, Lukas. There are more than 800 people who hunted the whole day and night yesterday."

Joe greeted Neil, his job was to guard the territory during the day.

"Morning, is the beast tide really so dangerous?" Neil asked, he planned to make appropriate preparations for it as well.

"Yeah, we stay in the settlement with only a few guarding from the walls. Survival outside is impossible, all beasts go mad and attack one another.

Quite a lot of links open during this time as well." He replied.

Neil frowned.

This shouldn’t be normal.

There was something frightening here that could even hinder them from using their abilities, global lord chat, and even the trading centre.

Neil had a feeling that this whole thing must be ’its’ doing as well.

This was the reason he wanted to get out of here, despite the fast growth here.

Fast growth with death could never be better than being alive with slower growth.

He glanced back at the sea, then at the enormous iron bars, and finally at the silhouette of a castle or mountain.

All three of them gave him chills.

"I would suggest you move into the settlement, otherwise surviving will be difficult for you out here." Joe suggested.

Neil just nodded.

There was still around a week, based on his growth he would make the decision.

"Anyway, let’s start trading up!!" he announced loudly.

Since he had asked Hiroshima to convey the message yesterday, quite a few people had brought alive beasts with their limbs chopped off and unconscious.

And many had even brought 2nd Origin ones.

The dwarves and the elven troops all got to work, quickly taking away the beasts and making proper lists.

Their task was to write who submitted how many corpses and what they wanted, and later on deliver it with Ray.

Neil just stood there, watching as more than 800 people submitted the beasts and their lists.

The pile of corpses was so big it couldn’t even be arranged inside the domain.

Neil felt excited, he waited until all the beasts were taken.

He had handed 3,570 shards to Ray already so he could start working without any delay.

[Shards: 0]

Glancing at his shards, he moved towards the big pile of corpses and first began to kill the beasts.

Only 1st Origin bronze and silver were brought back alive, others were too dangerous.

Just the alive beasts amounted to more than 400, he was just one step away from upgrading his armor to 2nd Origin.

’Collect the loot!’ he thought excitedly.

[Extracting loot...]

’There are even corpses of the 2nd Origin, will I get extra loot for them?’ Neil wondered as the pile of corpses started to disappear.

Only the ones he had killed were left behind.

After this was done, he left Leon and others to carry on with their tasks and headed inside.

This collection was from over 800 people after hunting for a whole day, it was way bigger than his expectations.

He sat on a stone near the campfire and took a deep breath, calming his heart.

Then he looked at his spatial storage.

It was flooded with gene points, thousands of them!!

’Sigh, I can’t even use them all.’ He thought with a big smile.

[3379 Bronze, 2533 Silver, 194 Gold, 1 Diamond 1st Origin Gene Points!!]

[431 Classless, 453 Bronze, 205 Silver 2nd Origin Gene Points!!]

Neil jumped to his feet in surprise, this was... a very big profit.

The people still weren’t sure about the food they would get from 2nd Origin corpses or the live ones.

According to the scale Neil was using, for every 100 points he spent he would return 10 points.

So he was making a profit of around 90%, and he kept it the same even for 2nd Origin, to keep everyone motivated.

And too much greed is never good.

He didn’t want to be the second Arlo.

"Ray, announce this. In the 2nd Origin, classless beasts are worth 20 days’ worth of food, bronze class beasts’ corpses are worth 24 days’ food, silver class corpses are worth 30 days’ worth of food."

After a slight pause, he added, "As for the alive beasts caught, give food worth 2 extra days for each one."

"Yes lord!!" Ray nodded.

After making the announcement, he returned to Neil’s side in a hurry.

Neil did quick math in his mind and was flabbergasted.

He needed to spend a bit over 300,000 points just to purchase food for everyone, an amount he had not even earned before.

Without wasting any time, he collected the shards, and the numbers skyrocketed.

[Shards: 2,977,870]

First, he gave Ray the needed shards so he could carry on with the purchases.

[Shards: 2,670,000]

After giving a few extra, Neil was still left with such a big number, it really felt like a dream.

Just before, he couldn’t afford a single troop.

He had to collect for so long just to purchase one giant and one elven archer.
