Exiled!? Ha! I have An Infinite Space-Chapter 114 -
The door opened quickly, and Fu Sheng stepped in with hurried steps, his eyes immediately searching the room before settling on me.
"What happened?" he asked at once, his voice low but filled with urgency.
I did not panic.
I only looked at him and answered calmly,
"He has a fever, and it came suddenly, but I have already given him medicine and started cooling his body."
His gaze shifted immediately to the bed, then back to me, as if confirming my words against what he could see.
"Come here," I said softly.
He did not hesitate.
He walked over at once.
At that moment, Fu Jin was leaning close to me, his body pressed against my side as he held onto his brother’s hand, unwilling to let go even for a second. His face still carried traces of fear, though he tried to stay strong.
Fu Sheng bent slightly and reached for him.
"Come," he said.
Fu Jin looked up at him for a brief moment, then allowed himself to be lifted.
Fu Sheng carried him carefully and sat down on the bed, placing him on his lap in a way that would not disturb Fu Jun. One of his arms supported Fu Jin’s back, while the other rested lightly, steady and protective.
Fu Jin did not resist.
He only leaned into him quietly, his eyes still on his brother.
I turned back to Fu Jun and adjusted the cloth on his forehead again, then wiped along his neck to keep the heat down. His body was still warm, but it was no longer as alarming as before.
"He will be fine," I said.
Fu Jin nodded slightly, though his fingers still reached out to touch his brother.
Fu Sheng remained silent, watching everything closely.
After a moment, he spoke again.
"What do you need?" he asked.
"For now, nothing," I replied. "We just need to watch him."
He nodded once.
"I will stay," he said.
I did not argue.
I moved slightly and sat on the bed beside them, making sure I was still close enough to reach Fu Jun easily. The space was not large, but we adjusted without speaking, each of us finding a place without disturbing the others.
Time passed quietly.
I continued to wipe Fu Jun’s skin gently, checking his temperature from time to time, making sure the cooling patch remained in place. His breathing slowly became more even, and though the heat had not completely gone, it had begun to settle.
After a while, Fu Sheng spoke again.
"If you are tired, you should rest," he said. "I will take over from here."
I turned to look at him.
There was sincerity in his voice.
But I shook my head slightly.
"Fu Jun is my child," I said softly. "Whether I am his birth mother or not does not change that."
My voice was calm, but steady.
I shifted slightly on the bed and leaned closer to Fu Jun, as if to show him without needing more words.
The moment I adjusted myself closer—
Fu Jun reacted.
His body stirred faintly, and his brows tightened as if disturbed.
I paused for a brief moment.
Then I leaned in a little more, letting my hand rest gently against him again.
Almost immediately—
He settled.
His breathing eased, and the tension in his small body faded, as if he had found comfort in that closeness.
I watched him quietly.
Then I adjusted the blanket again.
"He is calmer like this," I said.
Fu Sheng had been watching.
There was a change in his expression when he saw it, something that softened slightly, something that looked like relief.
He leaned back a little, his posture easing for the first time since he entered the room.
For a while, neither of us spoke.
Then—
I noticed Fu Jin.
He had fallen asleep.
His body had relaxed completely, his head resting against Fu Sheng’s chest, his small hand still loosely reaching toward his brother.
I looked at him.
Then at Fu Sheng.
He looked down at the boy in his arms, his expression quiet and soft.
"He fell asleep," I said gently.
Fu Sheng nodded.
"He was worried," he replied.
I reached over and adjusted Fu Jin slightly so he would be more comfortable in his arms, making sure he was properly supported.
Then I settled back again.
The four of us remained there.
And as the night stretched on, the tension that had filled the room earlier slowly faded, replaced by something steadier, something calm.
...
Somewhere in the middle of the night, the room had grown completely still.
Without realizing it, I had fallen asleep.
My body had remained leaning slightly toward Fu Jun, one hand still resting near him, as if even in sleep I had not let go completely.
Fu Sheng noticed first.
He did not move immediately.
He watched quietly for a moment, making sure both boys were stable, his eyes shifting from Fu Jun to Fu Jin, observing their breathing.
Then he moved, slowly and carefully.
He adjusted Fu Jun first, making sure the blanket covered him properly without trapping too much heat. Then he shifted slightly and guided Fu Jin, who was still resting against him, lowering him gently onto the bed beside his brother.
Fu Jin stirred faintly but did not wake.
Fu Sheng placed their hands close again, letting them remain connected as they had been before, then pulled the blanket over both of them, covering them carefully.
Only after that—
He turned to me.
For a brief moment, he simply looked.
My hair had fallen loosely around my shoulders, some strands resting against my face, slightly damp and soft. My posture was not comfortable, and the way I had fallen asleep made it clear that I had not meant to rest at all.
His expression softened.
He reached out slowly and brushed a few strands of hair away from my face, his touch light, careful enough not to wake me.
"You are also someone’s child," he murmured quietly.
His voice was low, almost a whisper.
"...If I do not take care of you, then who will?"
