Exiled!? Ha! I have An Infinite Space-Chapter 117 -
"We leave now."
I had just finished speaking when a voice suddenly rang out from behind us.
"Wait—!"
It was Fu Li.
Her tone carried surprise, almost disbelief, and it made everyone turn at once.
I paused and looked back.
Then I saw it.
Someone was standing at the entrance.
For a brief moment, no one spoke.
Even the Zhao brothers turned slightly, their attention shifting toward the gate.
Then—
Bai Ming froze.
Her eyes widened, and the expression on her face changed before she could hide it.
Han Fuji.
He stepped into the courtyard as if nothing was out of place, as if he had always belonged there. In his hand, he carried a small bundle, loosely wrapped, and his posture remained relaxed.
There was even a faint smile on his lips... a mischievous one.
He glanced around at all of us, taking in the silence, the stares, and the way no one moved to greet him.
Then he spoke.
"You are all looking at me like this," he said, his tone light, almost amused. "I thought I would be welcomed here."
Still—
No one answered immediately.
The air felt different.
Fu Tong blinked first, clearly caught off guard.
"...You?" he said.
"Good morning, everyone... ha! You all are still quiet... well, I guess I’m not welcome here after all."
He said this as he pouted with a smirk, ready to turn around and leave, but Fu Tong quickly called out to him.
"Wait... we didn’t say you should leave."
Fu Sheng walked toward him. "You finally decided to come live with us... I wonder what changed your mind."
Han Fuji smirked and swept a look around everyone in the compound until his eyes landed on Bai Ming.
Then a smirk appeared on his lips.
"If I didn’t come... someone would have tried to force me out in a very unpleasant way... so I just surrendered."
I smiled and walked toward him.
"It’s good that you are here... you can tag along with us... we got a farm."
"Ah... is that so?"
While the three of us talked, Madame Fu stood up and looked toward Bai Ming, who was just standing still, her eyes fixed on him.
"Ma, where are you going to?" Fu Fei asked, but Madame Fu did not reply. She just went into the kitchen, and after some time she came out with a small basket and walked toward Bai Ming.
"Madame Fu... what’s this?" Bai Ming asked, confused as she looked at the basket Madame Fu had stretched out to her.
"Your guest seemed to have come earlier than you expected... he probably didn’t get anything to eat today. You should give him this since he would be heading out with Fu Sheng and Su Long."
Bai Ming stared at the basket in Madame Fu’s hand for a moment, as if she did not understand what she was being told.
"My... guest?" she repeated slowly.
Madame Fu did not change her expression.
"He came looking for you," she said calmly. "That is enough."
Bai Ming’s fingers tightened slightly at her side.
For a brief second, she did not move.
Then she took the basket.
"...I understand," she said quietly.
Madame Fu nodded once and turned back as if nothing unusual had happened.
But the courtyard was no longer calm.
Fu Li leaned closer to Fu Fei, her voice low but unable to hide her excitement.
"Did you hear that? Guest," she whispered.
Fu Fei gave her a look.
"Do not start," she said softly, though her eyes still flicked toward Bai Ming.
Fu Tong crossed his arms, watching openly now.
"This is getting interesting," he muttered.
Fu Teng said nothing, but his gaze lingered on Han Fuji, thoughtful and sharp.
I glanced once at Fu Sheng.
He had already stepped back slightly, his expression returning to normal, but he was still paying attention.
Bai Ming walked forward.
Each step was steady, but there was a stiffness in her posture that did not go unnoticed.
She stopped in front of Han Fuji and held out the basket.
"This is from Madame Fu," she said. "Eat before you leave."
Han Fuji looked at the basket.
Then at her.
He did not take it immediately.
Instead, he said,
"You are giving it to me just like that?"
Bai Ming frowned slightly.
"Do you want it or not?" she asked.
A faint smile appeared on his lips.
"I do," he replied.
Only then did he take the basket.
Their fingers brushed briefly.
Bai Ming pulled her hand back almost immediately.
"...Do not misunderstand," she added. "This is not from me."
Han Fuji glanced at the basket again, then back at her.
"I did not say it was," he replied.
But the look in his eyes said otherwise.
Bai Ming turned her face slightly, avoiding his gaze.
From the side, Fu Li covered her mouth, clearly trying not to react.
Fu Tong elbowed her lightly.
"Do not laugh," he whispered.
"I am not laughing," she whispered back, though her shoulders trembled slightly.
I looked away from them and spoke,
"We are leaving."
Han Fuji lifted the basket slightly.
"I will come along," he said.
Fu Sheng glanced at him.
"You just arrived," he said.
"And?" Han Fuji replied calmly. "I cannot stand around doing nothing."
Fu Sheng did not argue.
Instead, he nodded once.
"Then come."
That was enough.
The Zhao brothers had remained silent the entire time, but they stepped forward again, ready to move.
I turned and walked toward the gate.
Fu Sheng followed beside me.
Behind us—
Han Fuji walked as well, the basket still in his hand.
Bai Ming remained where she stood.
She did not follow.
But her eyes followed him.
Until he stepped out of the gate and disappeared from view.
"Bai Ming!" Madame Fu called out, and it was at that moment Bai Ming turned around and returned back inside.
Entering, she saw Fu Tong had already carried the bundle Han Fuji had brought.
"Since Han Fuji will be staying here, then he will stay downstairs... in the empty room next to Bai Ming and you two," Madame Fu said to her girls.
"Alright, Ma... I’ll go clear the room and see if there are more clean blankets. If there aren’t, I’ll go wash some," Fu Fei said as she immediately went to work, with Fu Li tagging along. Fu Tong also followed her so he could drop the bundle.
With them gone, Fu Teng muttered, "I’ll be heading to work soon... I have to go get ready. Excuse me, Ma." With that, he also left.
"Madame Fu, I heard the boys fell sick yesterday... I’ll go and see if I can make them some herbal soup. I saw some ingredients in the kitchen that might help."
"Alright... you go do that." With that, Bai Ming turned around and left.
With her gone, Madame Fu sighed slightly and went to sit with her husband.
"That Bai Ming isn’t all that bad," Master Fu said, as his wife nodded.
"And there seems to be something going on between her and that Song Shi man... I’ll find out what’s going on. Leave it to me."
Just then, the sound of a carriage was heard from outside the gate.
"It seems that An Yu fellow is here for Fu Teng," Madame Fu muttered, just as Fu Teng came downstairs.
Already dressed, his hair was neatly tied, and he wore a dark brown attire, with a small leather bundle strapped to him.
"Oh... you got a uniform... it looks quite good on you."
Fu Teng turned slightly red as he bowed to his parents.
"Ma, Pa... I’ll get going now. Take care."
With that, he turned and went outside as his parents watched him leave.
"Oh my goodness... they grow up so fast, don’t they?"
