Exploring Technology in a Wizard World-Chapter 182 - 181: Tentacle Monster
Chapter 182: Chapter 181: Tentacle Monster
“Roar!”
The giant blue whale cried out as it was entangled by tentacles, struggling to break free from their grip.
But with a “splash, splash,” two more tentacles burst through the surface from the depths of the sea, wrapping around the blue whale again and forcefully dragging it downward.
The blue whale, extremely panicked, struggled frantically, but its massive body, over 60 meters in length, couldn’t break free from the hold of the three tentacles.
“Splash, splash, splash,” three more tentacles emerged, a total of six blood-red tentacles now entangled around the surface of the blue whale, seemingly sealing its fate.
The blue whale seemed to sense something as well, turning its head toward the wizards on the giant ship, emitting a sorrowful cry as if pleading for help.
“Woo—woo—”
The four wizards remained still, only watching the tentacles on the blue whale with grave expressions. Initially, perceiving the blue whale, they were merely cautious of its attacks, but now they were deeply worried.
Handling the attack from the blue whale, they might have managed, but the owner of these tentacles…
“Roar!”
The blue whale screamed as the six tentacles wrapped around it exerted force simultaneously, dragging it into the depths of the water, the depth unknown.
With a splash, a spray rose on the water surface, then it returned to calm, a dead-like calm.
Many fluorescent jellyfish were still floating, but the people on the deck dared not even breathe.
The four wizards quickly exchanged glances, discussing how to respond.
Suddenly, Dempsey’s gaze sharpened, and he warned, “It’s coming.”
“Hmm?” The rest of the wizards and the people on deck were briefly startled but then sensed something.
“Squeak,” the entire giant ship seemed to be gripped by something, its speed drastically reduced, and then it started to slowly tilt to one side.
“Under the ship! Act now!” Dempsey shouted, reciting a spell the next moment and throwing a fireball into the water, a spell he had demonstrated a few days ago.
Visibly, Dempsey cast the fireball into the sea, rapidly boiling the water, then erupting.
The entire water surface shook violently, turning a pale purple.
The other three wizards quickly followed suit, casting several spells with various colors into the water, creating bursts of colors within the sea.
“Squeak!”
Their spells were effective, and the phenomenon of the giant ship being pulled ceased, the deck returning to a level state. However, the four wizards did not let their guard down at all, their eyes sharply watching the water surface, prepared for the next attack from the tentacled sea monster.
After a long search without any success, Dempsey once again recited a spell; his eyes suddenly turned crimson with a faint glow, then scanning across the water surface, under the ship, and all around.
After scanning for a while, Dempsey lifted his head, locking onto an area of the sea about a hundred meters away, pointing and saying, “It’s over there!”
Immediately, everyone looked in that direction.
With a splash, the water broke apart around it, revealing a ferocious figure – that of a squid.
Yes, a squid.
A squid may not seem like much, but when the squid is unimaginably large, it’s terrifying, extremely terrifying.

On the deck, Richard’s eyes flickered as he watched the enormous squid emerge, flashes of information about the modern Earth crossing his mind.
On modern Earth, the largest squid is the Giant Gun Squid, also known as the Giant King Squid. The second largest is the Giant Squid. The maximum recorded size of these creatures is around 20 meters in length, capable of rivaling some whales as natural enemies and sources of food.
But the squid that had appeared now, just by rough estimates, was over a hundred meters in length, with tentacles several hundred meters long, capable of treating whales as snacks. As for giant ships, it was fully capable of dragging them into the sea and grinding them to pieces.
This was no longer within the category of a monster, it was truly a sea monster.
As it broke the surface, it was akin to a lighthouse being erected in the sea or a mountain peak emerging.
The wizards’ faces turned exceedingly grim, clearly doubtful of their chances of defeating this opponent.
“Damn,” Wizard Louis exclaimed, “This must be an ancient giant squid, I didn’t expect there to still be one alive.”
Wizard Siv said, “It seems very interested in our giant ship.”
Wizard Quinton said, “It’s going to be tough to deal with.”
“There’s no choice if it’s tough to deal with,” Dempsey stated gravely, “If it dares to attack, then we kill it; otherwise, we just wait and sail to the shore. Even if we really make it back, we can’t justify all the students dying here. You understand that, right?”
The other three wizards fell silent.
With a “swoosh,” the giant squid launched an attack, swinging several of its tentacles viciously from a hundred meters away toward the giant ship, like whips ready to smash it to pieces.
“Take action! Block it!” Dempsey shouted, gesturing with his hand as the water around the deck surged up, forming into a giant arm which ferociously slapped towards the squid’s tentacles.
The other wizards also released spells, likewise using the water to form giant arms, aiming to slap at the giant squid’s tentacles.
“Crack, splash!”
The tentacles made contact with the formed giant water arms; although the arms were destroyed by the force of the tentacles, the tentacles also missed their mark and were slapped away into the surrounding water.
Angered by the failed attack, the squid’s tentacles vibrated in the water, emitting sharp noises.
“Hisssss—”
Then, even more tentacles attacked the giant ship, forcing the four wizards to use all their energy to counter. They continuously created arms out of sea water, slapping at the tentacles, repeatedly knocking them aside.
Everyone on deck watched in tense horror, feeling like they were witnessing a battle between gods, not even daring to think about offering help.
“Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!”
“Slap, slap, slap!”
The battle persisted relentlessly, with the squid fighting against four wizards, using its advantage in numbers of tentacles without showing any signs of weakness. The wizards, on their part, gave their all, forming a tight defensive line to fend off the squid’s attacks. But despite their efforts, suddenly a tentacle got through, viciously striking towards the deck. Even though Dempsey urgently manipulated the air to bind and all the wizard apprentices also took action, they couldn’t prevent the tentacle from crashing down.
“Slap!”
The tentacle, with a sonic boom sound, struck the deck, which violently shook and splintered, sending wood chips flying everywhere. Amid this, two unfortunate students just happened to be in the drop zone of the tentacle and were struck, their bodies brutally obliterated, instantly turned into minced meat.
The remaining students screamed in terror.
At that moment, wizards Quinton, Siv, and Louis jointly created a thick sea water giant arm, which grabbed the squid’s tentacle and fiercely threw it away.
After all this, Quinton turned to the students on deck and yelled, “If you don’t want to die, get down to the cabin below deck quickly!”
The students immediately ran towards the cabin.
But Dempsey shouted, “Everyone, stop! Stay on deck!”
Ah? What?!
