Extra Borne: Transmigrated Into A System Apocalypse Soulsborne Novel-Chapter 78 - 76 – Exoskeleton Bio Armor
At first, I thought it was dangerous.
Not the gaping hole itself, nor the ominous weight of the sky pressing down. No, the real danger was the thoughts I couldn’t silence.
The massive wound in the heavens stretched wider, swallowing the dim light above like a slow-breathing beast. There was no edge, no clear boundary... it simply grew, unraveling the sky itself. It wasn’t just an opening. It was a gateway. A passage leading somewhere.
To another world?
No.
Another universe.
Celia’s footsteps were quiet but calm as she approached, her gaze locked onto the expanding void. The usual glint of curiosity burned behind her eyes, but her posture was tense, her fingers twitching slightly.
"What kind of airdrop will it bring?" she asked, voice measured, but carrying the undercurrent of something more.
I exhaled through my nose, letting my lips curl slightly.
"I’d call it a nuke drop rather than an airdrop."
A sharp knock landed on my head before I even registered her movement.
"Ow!" I rubbed the sore spot, gray strands of my hair shifting under my fingers. The hit wasn’t hard, but there was enough force behind it to make her point.
"No funny jokes at a time like this," she chided. The words were firm, but the small laugh she failed to stifle ruined her attempt at seriousness.
I smirked, nodding in mock surrender. "Alright, alright, I’ll try, but.."
Another knock.
Another ow.
I hadn’t even finished speaking.
I sighed, rubbing my hair again, but the grin still tugged at my lips. It was a rare moment of normalcy, one that didn’t quite belong in this world.
But then,
"Look, Agon," Celia interrupted, voice shifting back to focus. Her arm raised, pointing upwards. "Something’s dropping."
I followed her gaze.
And saw them.
Small orbs.
Glowing.
Descending slowly, flickering with faint pulses of light.. gentle, but unnatural, their soft radiance stark against the oppressive sky. They weren’t uniform. Different colors, scattered across the landscape like falling stars. Each one drifting toward a purpose, seeking a destination.
Seeking someone.
Wanderers.
Two veered toward us.
One for me.
One for Celia.
My fingers instinctively reached out. The moment I caught it, the sensation flooded through me.. a coldness, but not harsh. A warmth, but not suffocating. For a brief second, everything felt still.
Like something soothing had wrapped around me.
A contrast to this world.
A contrast to everything Echoes of Agony stood for.
Then, the light dissolved... seeping into my skin, moving through me like liquid radiance.
A sharp chime rang out in my head.

ACQUIRED: EXOSKELETON BIO ARMOR
+
As the words faded, the sensation changed.
Darkness crept over my limbs... something solid yet fluid, coating me in layers, reshaping itself to fit my form. It wasn’t metal, nor was it entirely organic. The texture pulsed with an almost imperceptible life, as if it were breathing in sync with me.
A bio-armor.
I muttered the words under my breath, flexing my fingers as the material shifted seamlessly with my movements.
It bonded instantly.. no rejection, no incompatibility.
It recognized me.
Understood me.
Adapted.
"This armor Isn’t just a protective shell. It’s something deeper, one that bonds with your DNA, thereby molding itself in response to my trait"..
"A perfect synchronization." I concluded, barely having any time to analyze further before I noticed Celia’s stare.
Her eyes trailed over me, her expression unreadable... except for the slight quirk of her lips, the barely restrained amusement lingering beneath the surface.
I chuckled, shaking my head slightly.
"I already know what you’re going to ask," I said, my voice carrying the slightest hint of amusement.
Celia raised an eyebrow, intrigued but skeptical. Before she could speak, I mirrored her potential reaction... tilting my head slightly, adopting her usual sharp but curious tone.
"What? How do you know that?"
For a second, she just stared. Then she burst into laughter, shaking her head in disbelief.
"You’re right," she admitted, grinning as she nudged my arm.
My eyes flickered to her exoskeleton bio-armor, taking in the details. It was a deep, iron-touched blue, almost metallic in its sheen, but layered with a certain organic texture. A flowing white robe extended from her waist down, shifting slightly as she moved, blending with the armor as though it had always been part of it.
I pointed at the fabric. "Can that robe be removed? Or deactivated?"
She looked down at it, blinking once before closing her eyes. A breath passed. Then, as if responding to her silent command, the robe dissolved... retracting into the armor itself.
She opened her eyes again, glancing at her now-sleek armor before looking back at me.
"Yeah," she confirmed, giving me a thumbs-up, a small but satisfied smile on her lips.
I studied her armor for a moment longer. Faint blue glows lined certain parts of it, subtle but pulsing in sync with the overall design. It wasn’t random. The light seemed integrated, almost like veins carrying energy through a living body.
I turned my gaze downward, inspecting my own armor.
There it was. The same effect. But unlike hers, my glow was a bright, ashen hue.. soft, yet noticeable against the dark shell of my exoskeleton.
I wondered if I could turn it off.
The moment the thought crossed my mind, the glow flickered... then vanished.
A chime echoed in my mind.
[TERMINAL BOOST DEACTIVATED!]
I frowned slightly, the words lingering in my vision. "Terminal Boost?" I muttered under my breath.
I had no idea what it was, but if it was active when the armor first appeared, then it had to serve a purpose.
Better not risk unnecessary complications.
I reactivated it. The glow returned instantly, pulsing with its previous rhythm.
While I was lost in thought, Celia had already deactivated her exoskeleton bio armor and began removing her previous armor..
Piece by piece, she removed each, the sound of metal falling on the ground, sounding with a light thud.
Underneath, she was left in her usual dark long-sleeved top and three-quarter loose trousers, the fabric slightly creased from being under the armor.
She didn’t say anything. Didn’t even glance my way.
She just kept moving, focused, as if the act of removing her old armor was nothing worth mentioning.
I sighed internally.
She could have at least told me she was going to change. Not that it mattered much.. she was only taking off the armor. But still.
Before I could stop myself, I lifted a hand and knocked her lightly on the head.
"Ouch!" She flinched slightly, rubbing the spot with an indignant look. "What was that for?"
"Next time, ask for privacy." I exhaled, glancing away as if irritated.
She blinked at me, confused at first. Then...
"But it was just the armor?"
I didn’t reply, keeping up the act, arms crossed, gaze purposefully distant.
Not because I was actually annoyed.
No.
This was just payback.
For all the times she had corrected me.
For once, I had a reason to be the one scolding her.

And it felt good.
Her lips parted slightly, realization dawning.
I kept my expression firm. Kept my stance relaxed but detached, waiting to see how long it would take her to figure it out.
She stared.
Longer than expected.
Then, at last..
A knowing smile tugged at her lips.
"So that was payback, huh?" she said, tilting her head slightly, her blue eyes narrowing.
Damn. That was fast.
I scratched the back of my head, smiling sheepishly. "Well..."
Didn’t get to finish.
Her expression shifted instantly, mock offense twisting into sudden pursuit.
"Hey, come back here!"
I took off.
Her footsteps followed, quick than I imagined, the faint shift of fabric rustling behind her as she lunged forward.
I didn’t slow down.
Didn’t give her the chance.
Mist seeped from my body, curling outward, swallowing my form in an instant.
A voice rang behind me.
"Hey...! That’s cheating!"
I laughed, dissolving further into the haze.
Cheating is fun.
