Chapter 265: Aidan Silvernight

A large portal opened in the center of the corridor, ten meters from them. The edge of the vortex was black, streaked with purple lightning. A silhouette slowly emerged from it.

He stood a little over 1m95.

He wore light armor over his shirt. Then suddenly, a force crashed down on everyone present in the space. The pressure was so intense that the weakest fainted in a fraction of a second.

"Who the hell are these bunch of monkeys?"

His white hair, swept back, framed a face with perfectly symmetrical features. His golden eyes, shining with an arrogance that nothing seemed capable of shaking, swept over the entire group with contempt. The aura he radiated, even though he was not at one hundred percent of his capacity, easily rivaled that of S+ ranks.

"It was Aidan Silvernight, the patriarch of the legendary Silvernight family..." Julian murmured in shock.

He knew him quite well, since his duchy was their ally.

Behind him, the rift continued to spit out its share of individuals. The Fallen, unmistakable, advanced with mechanical steps. They were numerous, all bearing the insignia of the organization The Spectrum, which the Holy Cathedral had officially declared heretical.

Their gazes, empty of any humanity, seemed saturated with corruption.

Kaiser felt his heart skip a beat. He immediately realized a brutal truth. The Kaelen family had been wiped off the map for heresy. And now, right before his eyes, the Silvernight, a legendary family, appeared alongside Spectrum forces to back the Draken. The pieces of the puzzle were fitting together with ruthless logic.

He clenched his fists so hard his knuckles turned white. "Shit," he muttered through gritted teeth, his jaw tight with tension. "If the Silvernight are with the Fallen, then the Draken... they’re definitely part of Spectrum too."

Aidan, from his vantage point, let his disdainful gaze sweep the scene. "Look at these insects squirming," he drawled.

"It just so happens that Pandora gave me a little report about you. The emotionless elf trash from the Luna clan, the sadistic lab rat of the Walpurgis witch, the sociopathic hotheaded piece of shit from the Frostvine duchy, and this sneaky little bastard who created an illegal organization just to fuck with us... aren’t you just a quartet of lunatics trying to stir up shit?"

Kaiser swallowed audibly. How did Aidan have so much information about them?

But it seemed Nox didn’t really care.

"Hey guys, Aidan or whatever his name is just gave us a name for our group!"

"Huh!?" Julian turned his head to look at Nox.

"What the hell are you talking about, Nox? What kind of nonsense is this now?" Jasper asked.

Nox struck a thoughtful pose: "Since we’re forming a group of friends, I figured we should have a name."

Kaiser shook his head: "Nox, this really isn’t the time."

"Yes it is! Like Aidan just said, we’re all a bit off, and if we add the tetrade he mentioned... we could have a cool name like Dark Tetrade!? What do you guys think??"

As Nox spoke, Julian’s face grew darker and darker.

"Shut your fucking mouth, Nox!"

"Yeah, you should stop acting like a kid in a situation like this," Jasper added.

But Nox wasn’t convinced. He pulled out a lollipop: "If you’ve got any other cool names, I’m waiting for suggestions."

"Shut your fucking mouth! Just shut your damn mouth!"

While Julian’s patience was being pushed to the limit.

Suddenly, before anyone could follow his movement, he vanished from the fighters’ field of vision, leaving the others whipping their heads around trying to locate him.

"See what you’ve done, Nox..." Jasper sighed.

That was a fatal mistake. In a flash of light, Aidan materialized behind Kaiser, barely a few centimeters away.

"Behind you!"

When Kaiser finally sensed his presence, his blood ran cold. He started to turn, reflex faster than thought, but it was already too late.

A repulsive force, as sudden as it was invisible, struck him full force. He was hurled backward, crashing to the ground several meters away with a dull thud.

"He’s using Arcane light mana!" Julian shouted.

Nox, seeing the scene, immediately tried to project his Anti-Magic. He raised his hands, but Aidan barely turned his head in his direction. With a simple flick of his wrist, he compressed the gravity around the young man.

Aidan didn’t even need to use his Arcane mana; his mere aura was enough to crush them.

Nox felt a colossal pressure slam down on him. Within moments, he was crushed to the ground, face in the dust, his bones creaking and protesting under the invisible force that threatened to reduce him to pulp.

Julian Frostvine didn’t hesitate for a second. Taking advantage of Aidan’s attention being diverted, he activated his Frostvine art. Instantly, ice thorns erupted from the ground, wrapping the patriarch in a sheath of frost.

The frozen vines climbed up his legs, his torso, freezing him in place. Aidan didn’t move. After a few seconds, pure mana exploded outward, making the thorns vanish.

The next instant, he stood in front of Julian. The latter didn’t even have time to blink before a hand closed around his right arm.

Aidan squeezed, and a sharp crack tore through the silence.

"AAAAHHHHHH!!!!"

Julian’s mouth opened, but the scream that came out no longer sounded human. The humerus, snapped clean, pierced through the flesh; skin and muscle gave way under the internal pressure, spraying blood and bone fragments.

Unfortunately, the others were all busy killing the Fallen and had no time to help Julian.

The pain was so intense that Julian felt his consciousness waver. Yet Aidan wasn’t finished. An angelic smile stretched his lips. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"Pain is an excellent teacher, isn’t it? Your father must have failed in your education~" he murmured.

Suddenly Aidan pulled out a vial and threw it onto the wound.

A green glow suddenly emanated... Julian felt something warm course through his broken arm. With a sickening sucking sound, the bones realigned themselves, the torn flesh closed as if time were reversing. The brief, intense relief overwhelmed Julian. For a moment he thought the ordeal was over. But Aidan’s smile widened.

Without warning, he tightened his grip again. He broke the same arm once more. This time, he didn’t settle for a clean fracture. He crushed the bone in several places, savoring with undisguised delight the wet sound of tissues tearing and shards grinding together.

Seeing Nox and Julian subdued in an instant, Jasper attempted one last desperate move.

As Aidan approached, he drew his bow in a survival reflex, aiming at the patriarch’s throat to fire a mana arrow at point-blank range. However, Aidan sensed the movement before the string even vibrated. With an almost casual backhand, he swept the attack aside.

The impact was so violent that Jasper flew through the air before smashing into the rocky wall. A sinister crack echoed in the cavern.

Before Jasper could even realize what was happening, Aidan was already on him. Without a word, the patriarch methodically crushed both of his legs under his heel, and another crack ripped through the air.

"Shit!"
