'Queen? What a bluff.'

Ruvina, trailing behind the four individuals—Kyle Arcutus and the other three—couldn't help but narrow her eyes, her mind brimming with amusement.

She recalled how this was the same man who, just moments ago, had declared that he would make Aleriana the queen of this kingdom.

Naturally, she understood that, perhaps due to subduing Prince Orion, he had come to believe it would be that simple.

But what he clearly failed to grasp was that this kingdom housed over a hundred million people.

Among them, a million were cultivators above the fifth layer, affiliated with sects, organizations, groups, and noble houses.

Each of these factions held warriors strong enough to flood an entire battlefield by sheer numbers alone.

And even if one ignored their collective strength, their overwhelming numbers could easily crush a seventh-layer cultivator at their peak.

No one—not even a powerhouse who achieved an early breakthrough—could subdue all of them alone.

Qi reserves had a limit, after all. Not to mention, several of these sects and organizations already supported candidates for the throne—primarily, the sons of the first queen.

So, after Kyle slaughtered so many members of the aristocracy during Prince Orion's banquet, he had essentially branded himself a threat to the entire structure. Assassination attempts would now increase a hundredfold.

If there were an assassination ranking list, even the Hurst Sect wouldn't make the top five anymore. And that's despite their once-famed legacy tied to the Black Swans.

The current top five assassin groups now worked directly under different heirs of the throne.

So forget about giving the throne to Aleriana. This was going to be a bloodbath—bloody enough that at least one among the four standing in front of her would end up dead.

None of them—Aleriana, Olea, Mialthara, or Kyle—had the endurance to withstand an onslaught designed not to overpower, but to wear them down.

Another massive miscalculation. Ruvina could only marvel at how foolish Kyle's words had sounded.

And yet, deep inside, something tugged at her.

It was the confidence in his voice—the certainty with which he spoke.

It echoed in her mind, stubbornly lingering even though she had initially dismissed it.

"This monastery's condition is terrible, Wife. Shouldn't we repair it?"

Kyle moved forward, hands folded behind his back as he veered along the rope, glancing around. He noted the scorched wooden marks, decaying structures, and broken molds clinging to the monastery walls. The entire place looked like it was falling apart.

"I don't have money," Aleriana replied firmly.

She had already blown through most of her resources trying to fulfill her husband's wishes—renovating the mansion, funding their extravagant wedding, and hiring a ridiculous number of servants.

Even though she fired them soon after, the cost had already spiraled far beyond expectations.

So yeah, not a single penny left.

'!?'

"W-Wait, then what about food?" Kyle suddenly halted after hearing his wife declare that she had no money. He looked at her, wondering if she was even planning to get them something to eat.

"...I have money for daily necessities and palace maintenance, but not to use on just any random place," Aleriana replied, observing Kyle's confused expression.

She gave a small smile before glancing toward the crumbling walls, already calculating how to balance their expenses.

She knew well that spending recklessly—especially on a place with no returns—was something she couldn't afford, not without a reliable income.

"Now that I think about it… if we need money, I can just ask Millena," Kyle suddenly recalled. The caretaker of his northern territory—he figured he could simply request funds from her and fulfill his role as a husband, at least financially.

"..."

Aleriana just stared at him with a blank look. Her intense gaze made Kyle flinch slightly before realization dawned on his face.

"W-Wait, Wife, that's the name of my territory's caretaker—" Kyle began to explain, desperate for her to not misunderstand.

Millena wasn't just any woman—she was the person in charge of managing the northern territory. But before he could finish, she cut him off.

"I know. I received a letter from her this morning," Aleriana said, glancing sideways at Olea, Mialthara, and Ruvina.

The three women exchanged subtle looks of confusion, clearly not understanding the implication behind her words—or the weight of the letter.

"A letter from the Northern Territories? Why? I definitely gave her my stone tablet of authority," Kyle muttered, narrowing his eyes. He clearly remembered leaving full control with Millena before departing. "What was in the letter, anyway?"

"She cried and begged you to return the gold coins you took from the territory's treasury. It's on the verge of collapse—she says territory won't survive another week," Aleriana replied with a cough, extending her hand in an almost awkward manner. She clearly didn't want to expose this truth, especially not after Kyle had so boldly declared her the future queen.

This wasn't the kind of information one casually shared in front of others—it was enough to make them start speculating about Kyle's weaknesses.

"Eh? What?" Kyle's eyes twitched. He was certain he hadn't taken a single coin from the treasury. In fact, he even remembered borrowing money from Olea at one point. But then—his eyes widened.

The real Kyle. The one who had originally lived in this body—he must've looted the treasury before fleeing the territory, after sending Leon in his place.

'Shit!'

Kyle swiftly opened his inventory, his fingers moving rapidly through the air. The sudden gesture caught the attention of the others, who watched in mild confusion.

One by one, three rings materialized in his hands. Without a word, he handed all three over to Aleriana, his hands trembling slightly.

He had obtained a total of six dimensional rings—taken from the six individuals he had killed upon his arrival in this world.

The original titleholder, the old man who brought him here, and four exorcism sect members. After looting them, he had six rings in total.

One he had given to a slave.

One to Olea. freewebnøvel.com

One had already been checked by one of the Empress' dolls—Prista.

Which meant… the remaining three rings he held now had the highest probability of containing whatever money was left.

"...None." Aleriana with the three rings stepped back, her expression calm yet tinged with disappointment.

She had already known Kyle's weakness—and his true identity, which he'd so willingly revealed.

Channeling her Qi into all three of her dimensional rings, she found nothing of value. No money. Only old training manuals from the Exorcism Sect and a few minor artifacts.

"Huh? Olea?" Kyle turned to her, his eyes glinting with a hopeful gleam, like a hungry cat staring up at a full bowl.

He was expecting something—anything—from her.

Perhaps those gold coins the original Kyle had taken and hidden inside the ring he'd given her.

"Hm? I—I mean… if it's about repairing this monastery, I'll do it," Olea stammered, catching his gaze.

Confused by how Kyle had just moments ago pulled a ring out of thin air, she assumed he must've been short on money.

Touched by his need and recalling the pitiful budget their ghost sect can offord, she gave a hesitant nod.

"No, not that—I meant, does that ring—ah, never mind. I get it." Kyle sighed midway, trying to explain he was asking about the ring's contents. But then he stopped himself.

If there was money inside, she would've offered it already—especially considering how desperate she was for revenge. That alone would have outweighed any concerns over finances.

"If you—" Ruvina cut in, sensing an opening.

She was already spinning schemes in her head, thinking to offer Kyle a high-interest loan filled with hidden clauses.

If it worked, she'd secure access to the elixirs and herbs from the Northern Territory—his territory.

But before she could even begin, Kyle raised a hand. His palm, firm and clear, silenced her instantly.

"No," he said firmly. "I'm a man. I can earn for my family."

He believed in equality—but there were moments when pride demanded its due.

He was no longer just invincible; he was broke. In conclusion, he was now a broke, penniless, invincible MC.

Yet even in this vulnerability, a plan was forming in his mind—something that could rebuild this place, earn money, and secure support for Aleriana.

This world might have cultivators, but the mortals still outnumbered the cultivators.

And to influence the crowd—even those who looked like ants to higher beings—what he needed was faith. A symbol. A sanctuary. He would make this place that symbol.

"What kind of logic is that?" Mialthara frowned, arms crossed. She had no money either, yet never made a fuss. Why was he acting as though it was his duty alone to bring in coin?

"Shut up, old woman. First, let's meet the priest of this place," Kyle shot back, already striding toward the open plaza where they'd entered earlier.

"Wh-who is the old woman!?", Mialthara stammered, clearly hearing such ungrateful words expected from humans, especially mortals. She had just a moment ago saved his life by keeping his blood flowing, and here he was referring to her in such a bad tone.

'What?'

And then Kyle saw it.

A cat.

No, the cat.

Seated like a tiny monarch, flanked by two men in priestly robes, both bowing in reverence.

'Wait… are they worshipping an undead?!'

His face contorted in a mixture of disbelief and comical horror. Because perched atop that smug little feline was none other than Valeriana—that useless, unfit reaper.

The last person—dead or alive—who deserved worship in any world.

'I need to teach these people properly…' Kyle thought before stretching his hand as he looked towards the head priest kowtowed on the ground before calling out, "Ermis, it's funny to see you bow down in front of my pet when I, the god, am here."
