Extra's Perfect Ending-Chapter 318: Long dream
The skeleton felt a bit pleased with Holen’s words, even though it knew that this was just a scam to keep their lives. He didn’t mind the emperor was not a petty person after all. He controlled his mystic power to retrieve the book that was rightfully his.
However, something shifted within the skeletal vision. It moved quickly, just fast enough to evade his hollow eyes. He gestured with his hand to harness his mystic power to slash at whatever approached him. The pristine floor cracked in a straight line as if it had been slashed by a sword. His mystic power struck the thing that was coming toward him directly.
Upon closer look, it was a collection of vines that wiggled on the floor after it was cut.
"What is this...."
However, before the skeleton could gather ed what was going on, the vine came in from all sides. Approaching him from the empty space like a ghost. The skeleton took a second to understand how such a large object appeared out of nowhere, and then he found it.
The vines had no mystic power before, so if he was not focused on it, then it was practically invisible. He only saw Holen and the group of knights because they were holding an important item and was very noticeable.
The skeleton’s eyes moved to judge the situation, firstly it judged the three people before him. In that split second, he could see the surprise on their face. So he could rule out the possibility that they were cooperating.
The vines seem to be acting on their own or at odds with these people. He then turned his attention to the blessed one beside him. However, he forgot that he had turned the guy into a floating meatball and could glean any useful information from that.
After careful consideration, he just needed to evaporate this pest before it could do anything. His mystic force moved to assist him what that.
The emperor didn’t use any power that needed to pay the price, in his time he was able to master the art of controlling his raw mystic power to fight, even without turning it into a special power. However, to use mystic force this way, one would need a considerable amount of mythic power and an excellent understanding of your mystic. After that, the technique used too much mystic force to produce results.
However, it also offered something very valuable. For one it’s very inconvenient to use. Without any condition, the mystic power was truly another limb when they mastery controlled it.
It could become a weapon for a mystic user who did not have any damage-type mystic power. The emperor was among the best in his time in using this technique.
In ancient times people called it Mystic aura.
The vines that approached him stood no chance when facing the might of his mystic aura. ti shed through any vines that came remotely close to his body. However, he quickly discovered that this was an endless amount of vines.
There needed to be a source of all of the vine. He started looking for it when he got an endless amount of vines under control. After searching a bit he finally came upon an irregularity in the vine formation. There was a place that didn’t look the same among the collection of vines.
He quickly controlled his mystic aura and cut through the vines. The mother, whose power was significantly lower than before, was helpless when facing this technique. The only thing she could do was move her core away, but she knew it wouldn’t be enough. The aura followed her where she went.
The mother felt like this was getting worse and worse every minute. This tased was way harder than it used to be. From catching three useless people to fighting with an ancient skeleton that had a troublesome technique.
She could only blame herself for not using mystic power when fighting the three helpless guys earlier. Now the task seems even more impossible than before. Moreover, her contractors were in captive by the skeleton.
"I remember you." The skeleton’s voice sounds all over the place. "You pesky thing that ruined my day. How did you get this weak?"
"..."
"It’s fine. Let me liberate you from that state"
A more mystic aura is generated by the emperor, all aiming for the vines, trying to cut them to pieces.
When all of this was happening, Holen and the knights felt like this was a perfect situation for them to escape. Both of their biggest adversaries are distracted and the exit door is right beside them.
Holen signal to Oven to make a move. The knight did as he was signaled to and tried to interact with a door-shaped distortion.
"Hurry.." Holen muttered loudly, feeling anxious as he observed the battle unfolding. From what he could see, the skeleton posed an even greater threat than the vines. It seemed likely that the vines would lose quickly. They needed to get out of there before that happened.
"It won’t work...."
Oven also muttered loudly. His voice was as shaken as Holen’s, especially when he heard the battle from behind. His hand tapped on the nonexistent door, trying every position often door opening that he knew. However no matter what the thing wouldn’t budge.
"Let me help"
Jell saw the whole thing and decided to help Oven. However, after a bit, he discovered the same problem as Oven. The thing just wouldn’t open.
"Help me!"
Jell turned to the detective for help. Holen wasn’t sure how he could contribute to something that two nights had failed to accomplish, but he decided to try anyway. He pressed his shoulder against the door, joining the knights as they used their full strength to push against it.
Kanku also joined in, hoping to make a difference. from the outside perspective, it was just 3 adults and a kid pushing against the air and not moving. Realizing that it was properly futile, Heoln focused on another thing...
They were able to use this door to travel through the dimensions. What was different between them when they went through the door and now? He could only think of one stark difference.
"Maybe we needed the Book of Earth"
"What?"
This surprised both of them. Oven was about to yell out but when he thought about it that was the only differnt they had. They didn’t get hurt here and it wasn’t a long time here either, the only real difference they had was really the Book of Earth that Holen had with him.
"How do we get it?"
Jell also thought up to that point and asked Holen. From his perspective, it is pretty much impossible for them to get a hold of it. Both the skeleton and the vines were dangerous. Just by looking at their battle, they could not fathom how to fight it.
"We need to grab it while they are distracted"
"Sometimes it’s hard to think of you as the best detective"
"Then you properly catch on that both of them couldn’t really see us right?" Holen said with a deadpan expression. This was his guess, judging from their reaction and the monster from earlier when they were rescuing the kid.
"What?"
"The monster couldn’t see us before, remember? After the skeleton engaged with the vines, he didn’t comment on our escape when he should have been chatting. Think about it: if you’re an old skeleton who just walks up and assumes that we are the first people he has encountered, then he should be more friendly, right? From what we’ve seen, he constantly talks to us. He’s not talking now because he could not see us. At least not clearly."
"That’s a long shot." Jell felt like the detective was on some kind of drug when he said that.
"And the long shot is all we had," Holen said, fiddling with his shirt, trying to think of a plan. But no matter how much he thought about it, he couldn’t see much of a way to reliably steal the book. The only distraction they had was the vines and the guess that they were invisible to the skeleton.
"Fine, do you have anything then? All I see is death in there sir,"
"Kid" Holen turned to Kanku "Who did you survive in the monster’s mouth? If we couldn’t move even a stone, then the monster should’ve crushed you the moment it ate you"

The knights and Holen looked at Kanku, who by this point clam down a bit. But he’s not in a good condition. The kid was still scared out of his mind and the usaully cheerful attitude turned meek.
"I.. think it was my... necklace? I don’t know..." Oven felt very bad for the little guy, he could see how much trauma that event could inflict.
"Hey don’t ask that to the kid"
"Sorry, I just needed to know," Holen said, they were in a hurry micing word would be wasting time. "Could I borrow that necklace for a second? I will bring us out of here"
