Extra's POV: My Obsessive Villainous Fiancee Is The Game's Final Boss-Chapter 39: Off To Underwood
Ren adjusted the straps on his bracers as he stepped to the middle of the tent.
The campfires outside burned low, the embers flickering like tiny stars on the ground. The aftermath of the raid had left the camp weary, but it also meant one thing. No one would be looking for or paying attention to him tonight.
Thorn, who sat on a nearby chair, sharpening his sword, glanced up with a smirk. "Off to your secret rendezvous?"
Two years ago, he had become strong enough to teleport to the coin he had left with Lilith and had been visiting her ever since.
He always timed his visits after raids, as the barbarians wouldn’t attack so soon after a raid. Coupled with the general weariness, he wouldn’t be missed.
He rolled his eyes as he turned to Thorn. "You say it like it’s some great affair for the history books."
"It might as well be." Thorn chuckled. "You vanish every so often, and when you come back, you’re always in a suspiciously good mood. I think I’m allowed to be curious about what happens during those… meetings."
"Not that I’ll ever tell you."
"If you did, then I’ll know you’ve gone mad."
Ren shook his head with a grin, fastening the clasp of his cloak. "I’ll be gone for the rest of the night. You know the routine."
Thorn leaned back, tilting his head. "One day, that girl is going to kidnap you, and I won’t even be surprised."
Ren smirked. "Then I’ll make sure I leave you a note."
He reached into his pocket and brought out a coin which he flipped to the ground. That would be his return ticket.
He mentally reached out to the furthest coin, and a small pulse of energy surged through him as he activated the link.
In a blink, he was gone.
The moment Ren reappeared in Lilith’s room at the Underwood estate, he knew something was off.
The room was dark with no candles lit and the bed before him was suspiciously empty. The room looked like there was no one in it but his senses told him otherwise.
He tensed slightly. "Lilith—"
A weight suddenly crashed into his back, knocking him slightly forward. Arms wrapped tightly around his shoulders, and a delighted squeal filled the air.
"You’re here!"

Ren staggered but laughed, catching himself. "Lilith—"
Before he could finish, the door slammed open and Elias burst into the room, hand already reaching for his weapons.
But before he could do anything, there was a flash of steel and a throwing knife embedded itself in the doorframe just inches from Elias’s head.
He inhaled sharply, standing frozen in place, his face pale from how close to death he had just been.
Lilith turned to Elias, her eyes dark with displeasure and another throwing knife already in her hand. "How dare you."
Her voice was cold, razor-sharp, and filled with a venom that made Ren himself pause.
She stepped forward, her presence overwhelming as her soul armor appeared to cover her, every inch of her seething with restrained fury.
"You ruined my moment, Elias." She hissed. "Do you have any idea how long I’ve been waiting for him? And you come barging in as if you have any right?"
Elias swallowed. "I heard movement. I thought—"
"You thought?" Lilith sneered. "You thought you’d come rushing in and what? Interrupt me? Question him? As if he isn’t allowed to be here? As if you have any authority over our time together?"
Her words lashed at him like a whip, and Ren saw the rare moment of discomfort on Elias’s face.
But what concerned him more was the sheer intensity in Lilith’s eyes, the possessiveness curling around each syllable she spoke.
Ren cleared his throat, stepping forward to place a hand gently on Lilith’s shoulder. "Lilith, breathe."
She stiffened under his touch, but after a moment, she exhaled, the dangerous edge in her posture softening, and her glare at Elias wavered.
Ren smiled, choosing his next words carefully. "That was some impressive control. Your reaction time is exceptional."
Lilith blinked, her expression shifting slightly as his praise registered.
He continued, speaking gently. "But remember what we talked about. Restraint is just as important as strength. There’s power in knowing when to strike and when to hold back."
She hesitated, then let out a slow exhale, rolling her shoulders as if shaking off the moment. "I suppose you’re right."
Then, without turning to Elias, she waved her hand dismissively. "You can go now."
Elias immediately gave a stiff nod and stepped out, closing the door behind him.
Lilith turned back to Ren with a bright smile and immediately wrapped her arms around him again like nothing had happened. "Now where were we?"
Ren chuckled, but inwardly, a part of him remained unsettled. This was definitely not normal behaviour.
Lilith wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing against him like she belonged there. "I missed you."
He chuckled. "We saw each other last week."
She huffed. "That’s too long."
He smirked, reaching into his coat pocket. "Then I hope this makes up for it."
She pulled away slightly, watching as he placed something in her hands. A scale, large, dark, and iridescent.
Lilith’s eyes widened. "This is—"
"A wyvern scale." Ren confirmed. "From the one I fought earlier tonight."
Lilith gasped, holding the scale like it was a priceless gem. "You fought a wyvern? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?!"
Ren laughed. "I was a little preoccupied."
Lilith ran her fingers over the smooth surface, looking at him with admiration. "You’re incredible."
He grinned. "I try."
And that was how they spent the rest of the night, seated together, talking about his fight, about the border, about everything they had missed in each other’s lives during the week apart.
And eventually, the conversation turned to something Lilith was pleased with.
"You’re going home." She said, a big grin on her face.
Ren nodded. "For the first time in four years."
She matched his nod. "I’ll come visit you."
Ren raised an eyebrow. "That might be complicated."
Lilith smiled sweetly. "Not for me."
Ren sighed. "Lilith—"
"No, really." She continued, cutting him off. "My father will let me go. And besides, I have another reason."
Ren gave her a questioning look. "Oh?"
"The King’s birthday." Lilith sat up straighter. "You said you’ll convince your father to send you to the capital as the Ross representative. I’ll convince my father to let me go too."
Ren rubbed his temple. "You’re really set on this, aren’t you?"
Lilith nodded firmly. "Obviously."
Ren exhaled, knowing there was no talking her out of it. "Fine. But if you start throwing knives at nobles, I’m not covering for you."
Lilith giggled. "No promises."
He glanced outside the window to see that dawn was approaching. With an exhale, he stood up. "It’s time for me to go."
"No." Lilith held onto him, refusing to let go. She clung to him, her fingers gripping his coat tightly. "Stay a little longer."
Ren sighed. "You know I can’t."
Lilith pouted, pressing her forehead against his chest. "You always leave."
Ren ran a hand through her hair. "And I always come back."
She grumbled but eventually released him. With one final hug, Ren teleported away, reappearing in his tent at the border camp.
Thorn was already asleep, sprawled out in his bed, snoring lightly.
Ren sat down, exhaling.
Lilith’s attachment to him had grown stronger. Stronger than he had thought possible. He had nurtured it, perhaps too much.
He would need to find a way to balance it.
And with what he’d just heard, he had a plan.
Once they were in the capital, he would introduce her to other female nobles, help her form connections, friendships beyond him.
He’d give her a support network of her own.
It’ll be a precaution.
One he hoped wouldn’t be necessary.
