Extreme Pampering-Chapter 73 - I want to meet him

Chapter 73: Chapter 73: I want to meet him.
Shen Zhiyi paused for a while before she understood the meaning of “solitary confinement room.” She knew some parents used “the dark room” to discipline their children, making them face the wall and reflect, but the solitary confinement room here represented something more formal and more cold.
Locking a child in such a cold, dark, and narrow place was unimaginable to her.
Shen Zhiyi was lost for words for a long time, and Pei Yu touched her cheek with the back of his hand, “Scared?”
His hand was also cold, but Shen Zhiyi had no intention of pulling away. She frowned, “How many times have you been in here?”
Pei Yu didn’t answer immediately.
Many times.
Among his siblings, he undoubtedly best met Father Pei’s expectations. Still, he always disappointed his father. The solitary confinement room had been prepared for him from the start, and Pei Yu had spent most of his childhood here.
It was too dark, too cold here. Being in this place, his thoughts seemed to freeze as well. Pei Yu couldn’t recall what he reflected on here, nor could he remember the reasons for being locked up.
All he remembered was when he would walk out and try to snuggle up to his mother, that woman would look down on him, as if evaluating a substandard piece of work.
Frowning, she seriously asked, “Why do you always disappoint Dad?”
Why did he always disappoint Dad…
“Not many times,” Pei Yu casually glossed over the topic, “It’s very cold, right? Let’s go out.”
The sound of the door locking echoed in the empty corridor, Shen Zhiyi turned back for a glance, “Don’t come back here anymore.”
He clearly did not like this place, she could tell, but she couldn’t understand why he would still come here if he disliked it.
“Yeah,” Pei Yu didn’t explain his unusual behavior. He equally loathed his past self that always seemed to surface here, “Tomorrow I’ll accompany you on the movie set.”
“Accompany me?” Shen Zhiyi looked up at him, “Aren’t you busy with work?”
Why suddenly accompany her on the movie set.
“It won’t delay,” Pei Yu rubbed her earlobe, “Don’t you want me to go?”
“No,” Shen Zhiyi was just surprised, “I won’t have much time to spend with you while I’m filming, won’t you be bored by yourself?”
Moreover, the resting area on the set was terrible. He’d have to stay in the car the whole time. How suffocating.
“As long as I can see you, it’s alright.”
As they were about to leave the pitch-dark corridor, Pei Yu stopped, his voice low, “I want to kiss.”
As he spoke, he was already lowering his head to kiss her. Shen Zhiyi’s back was against the wall, her face upturned in a receptive stance. He was indeed not himself today, kissing fiercely, with an indescribable restlessness and urgency. She wanted to dodge; Pei Yu, however, relentlessly pressed on, making her unable to escape his embrace.
The darkness made the sounds clearer, Shen Zhiyi couldn’t see Pei Yu’s face, only the kisses on her lips let her glimpse his emotions. Confronted with this unusual and unfamiliar Pei Yu, she chose to accept, merely clenching his shirt.

But Pei Yu’s unusual behavior continued into the next day.
“Are you really coming with me to the set?”
In the morning, as Shen Zhiyi was buttoning up Pei Yu’s shirt, she noticed two new bite marks on his collarbone. She was still hesitant, repeatedly questioning.
Pei Yu gave a hum, dispelling her concerns.
“I won’t cause any trouble.”
He just wanted to be by her side.
Shen Zhiyi sighed silently. She actually felt that this would distract her.
Pei Yu’s arrival obviously surprised Xiaodong too, even though Shen Zhiyi had warned her in advance, but she hadn’t expected him to really show up.
The originally spacious and comfortable nanny van became cramped and bumpy because of his arrival. Xiaodong had to be extremely careful even while driving.
“I’m going,” Shen Zhiyi had discussed it with the crew beforehand and parked the nanny van in an open space on the set, otherwise, he couldn’t just be left waiting in the parking lot, “I’ll come over whenever I have a break.”
“Mm.”
Pei Yu appeared calm, but the moment Shen Zhiyi left, a dark shade enveloped his eyes as he could not suppress the anxiety and restlessness.
Meeting Father Pei had impacted him far more than he had anticipated.
Things weren’t going smoothly for Shen Zhiyi either. She indeed got distracted several times, but the bigger problem lay with the actress she was acting against, who, after multiple takes, still couldn’t perform well, prompting Director Meng to nearly drive her to tears.
Xiaodong dared not stay in the car, so he took a small stool and squatted nearby, seizing any opportunity to bring water, and said sympathetically, “I heard she’s going through a breakup, and it’s affecting her performance.”
In the end, they couldn’t get the shots, the set was dismantled and replaced, which delayed a lot of time, and Shen Zhiyi fortunately got some time to rest.
She returned to the car, saw Pei Yu with his eyes closed, and immediately lightened her movements.
Last night, it seemed like Pei Yu had insomnia till late. She awoke blurry-eyed a few times to find the space beside her empty.
Pei Yu hadn’t fallen asleep; his headache made him open his eyes upon hearing movement, just in time to see her attempting to step over to the next seat from alongside his leg.
Dressed in ancient costume, with her hair coiffed high and cheeks lightly blushed, she looked even more radiant, capturing Pei Yu’s gaze as he watched her, somewhat spellbound.
Not letting her pass, Pei Yu drew her close, “Just sit here.”
“You haven’t slept, have you?” Shen Zhiyi noticed he didn’t look well. “You should sleep for a bit, I’ll stay with you.”
Pei Yu was silent, quietly resting his head on her shoulder as Shen Zhiyi also remained silent, gently flipping through the script.
The two sat quietly for a while until the crew came to hurry them. Shen Zhiyi then left to film.
Midway, Xiaodong had to return for some items, his heart pounding and his steps slowing even before reaching the car.
Huo Heng saw this scene.
“Are you Zhiyi’s assistant?”
Xiaodong wanted to frown as soon as he saw him, “What are you doing here, trying to harass Sister Zhiyi again?”
That a mere assistant dared to speak to him like that displeased Huo Heng immensely; he suppressed his temper, “I’m here to deliver props to your crew.”
Both crews were shooting period dramas. Director Meng needed a few props, so they borrowed some from beside, and since Huo Heng was free, he brought them over.
He couldn’t say he had no ulterior motive, but Huo Heng was more interested in making an appearance in front of Director Meng than in coming specifically for Shen Zhiyi.
He turned his head to see a car nearby and recognized it, “Is Zhiyi inside?”
No wonder he hadn’t seen her earlier.
“No,” Xiaodong began vigilantly, “Sister Zhiyi has gone to film.”
Huo Heng was speechless, “She asked you to lie to me like this?”
Xiaodong was speechless too, “Who’s lying to you?”
He folded his arms, standing aside, “Fine, if you’re not lying, then open the car door and let me see.”
Xiaodong was nearly sweating, That person inside isn’t someone you can just look at.
“No,” Xiaodong was exasperated, “Can you stop being so persistent?”
Huo Heng frowned fiercely, “Who are you to talk to me like this?”
Xiaodong also got angry, “I might be nobody, but the person inside is not someone you want to mess with.”
Huo Heng glanced towards the car, realizing something, nearly grinding his teeth, “Inside is Pei—”
What was that person doing on set?
He swiftly made up his mind, “I want to meet him.”
