F-Rank Soul Eater-Chapter 141: Tommy’s Mark
"HUH!?" Pencil stood speechless.
Polystar adjusted is glasses, "What!? You think we have the time to wait for them to search for us?"
"Go on," he gestured with his head.
Pencil nodded, still nervous. While the idea was an efficient one, it was still crazy.
However, Bloodshine took him by his hand, "dønt hurry. I want like to watch husband’s battle."
As she pulled him into the building, Vass turned to Polystar. "Noble brat, are you sure this will work?"
"It will," Polystar replied confidently. "Sunce we arrived, I have been protesting against the use of Shades.
Trust me, when it comes to nobles, I know how the blood flows in their veins... How their pride works.
Have you ever heard of the Commoner War of 7?"
Vass shook his head. "No, what’s that?"
Polystar did not reply instantly, simply shaking the can of Red spray paint as he began his work on the walls of the building.
"Of course, you don’t. No Noble family would let it slip into the history books you commoners learn from.
Quick, paint a ’W’ over there."
Vass nodded and began.
"The Commoner War Of Seven till today, remains the biggest middle finger ever given to Noble blood, and is said to be the reason why the Second Emperor began knighting Commoner Soulbound warriors.
While the nobility title of knight cannot be inherited by commoner children, it can cage the will of their hearts."
Soon, they were done.
’W7’ painted everywhere.
Vass still did not get it. However, the moment an instructor arrived, face frowning like he was about to shit an Ostrich egg, Vass realized the severity of the situation.
He could not help but think, ’maybe this was too far.’
Getting into the detention center was the easy part. Getting to the same cell Tommy had been imprisoned was the hard part.
The detention center, unlike the prison Soren was thrown in—did not have a lot of cells. Cadets were not always on ruly, even the commoners.
After all, being thrown in the detention center sent negative signals to one’s Sponsors, or any potential sponsor for that matter.
Most were on their best behavior.
Most.
—Regardless of its few cells, the detention center had enoug for the two unruly figures.
They were immediate thrown into a cell.
Vass fell on the ground, shivering like the winter had suddenly arrested him, while simultaneously sweating.
"Is this the first time you’ve been cut from your Shade¿" Polystar asked rhetorically.
Vass nodded, gritting his teeth, as she folded himself.
Polystar nodded. "Don’t worry, you will get used to it."
"Usee... used to it?" He stammered.
Polystar did not elaborate. Instead, he reached for the roof of his mouth, and removed a piece of leaf.
He had placed it there before the red sword disconnected him from his Shade.
"The cell Tommy was in has been sealed for investigation purposes.
Of course, its a front. But this is good. Because it means that it has not been tampered with."
As he spoke, he folded the leaf in a pattern. Then inserted it into the ket hole of the cell door.
He twisted.
Clank...
It opened.
"—and we can get the information on the wall."
"How... is... that... even... possible?" Vass asked, wide eyes.
"Oh, the leaf? The vegetables I produce from my body are not normal."
Gently, Polystar opened the cell door. "Just wait here, I’ll be right back."
The hallway was dimly lit by the aether lambs above.
Polystar looked left and right. There was no one watching.
He had noticed that even when the instructor had brought them to the detention center, the Third year cadet, and Red Sword on duty had been busy watching Soren’s match with Goldsworth on a large screen.
Everybody seemed to be interested in it.
Polystar did not mind. It only meant that the Red sword and third year cadet were distracted.
It was the only reason they had not rushed over to throw him back in his cell,—as their eyes was not on the CCTV.
Polystar traced the way they had been brought— through the hallway.
And finally, he was in front of the cell.
It was crossed out with a yellow tape that said ’CRIME SCENE—DO NOT ENTER’.
"Yeah, definitely calling my name."
Polystar proceeded to removing the Yellow tape and hacking his way into the cell, just like he had done his own.
The cell was semi dark.
A normal person would have found it difficult to see.
But a Soulbound warrior was different. Even better, his sight was extra enhanced as a result of the nature of his Shade given ability.
Soren had told them that Instructor Eagle-wing eyebrows said all Tommy left behind was a message.
Polystar did not know Tommy well. In fact, after what happened with Instructor Ivory, he had not interacted with him—unless it was general drill class.
But Soren on the other hand, he had come to develop a semblance of understanding for.
If Soren was saying clues were left here, then they were.
He first looked on the bed for something—anything, but he did not find.
Just then, he noticed a kind of dried paste on the wall.
He got closer to it.
It was written in different patterns.
When cadets were thrown into the detention center, they were usually stripped of everything except their cadet issued wristwatch.
Then again, the signal from their wristwatch to the outside world was restricted to just the walls of the building.
Polystar could not help but wonder what Tommy had used to make this mark on the wall.
And the fact that it was still there till now pulled his curiosity.
"It looks green and like it was sticky." Polystar thought out loud.
Was it a vegetable meal or...
He sniffed.
No exact distinct smell.
And then he used a finger to slightly peel a part, and taste it.
Instantly, memories of all the times he had seen Tommy flashed in his mind.
Nearly each and everytime, Tommy’s finger was in his nose.
Realization dawned on him...
