Chapter 32: Take The Bait, Little Fish

Augustus staggered through the village roads, watching the people evacuate from the outer rim, his eyes wandering around the area, "Did I make a mistake in my judgements?"

He'd retrieved his sword from his quarters and was heading towards the battlefield, an intense gleam in his eyes. He looked from left to right, the entire village was in a big mess.

'This wasn't part of the plan. The village is a panicking mess now.' Augustus turned to the side, then paused, drawing his blade. He saw the village militia marching to the gates.

Augustus caught the fleeting trace of Aaron leading the army, and his eyes twitched, 'I guess he was too late to the party. That means Lily's the one in charge of the main forces!'

Augustus felt a cold shiver run down his spine, but he could care less for that now. It'd be a shame if she could not handle the enemy forces alone, but he could not give any help.

He turned to follow them, holding his blade with a strong gleam in his eyes, 'They will have a high level threat with them, but Aaron should be more than enough in handling it,'

'I on the other hand would go have myself a chat with their commander.' Augustus felt the biting cold increase as the stench of blood filled his nostrils, 'I will lure out the target.'

Enryon. It was high time he completed that quest, wasn't it? If the village reached the verge of collapse, then Enryon would show up to claim all the glory with his feral beasts.

Augustus walked through the village, then reached the gates. His pupils narrowed to needlepoint seeing the village militia engaged with moon palace knights, looking boorish.

In face of the higher trained men with better equipment, the voluntary fodder division of the main force was getting slaughtered. Lily on the other hand battled the commander?

'Thankfully, I had Fredrinn duplicate enough armour for the militia.' Augustus did not reveal himself, 'This would give them more of an advantage as the battle extends further.'

He didn't have all the members of the village resistance use the duplicated armour for a reason: he wanted the commander to underestimate the village forces, just for a second.

Once the moon palace devoted to an all-out slaughter, they wouldn't be able to escape their onslaught. Augustus joined the militia in spreading out, blending into the battlefield.

'I wanted to inform Melissa of my absence, but I guess one or two from the village saw me leaving and would report to her.' Augustus clicked his tongue and shook his head, 'Tsk.'

The bastard Lily fought against seemed to be using «Acupuncture Weakening», as his sibling's attack efficiency was reduced even with her enhanced speed, balancing the fight.

Without her killing edge, Lily and the golden haired man who looked severely injured got locked in a battle of attrition. Augustus remained calm, watching as Aaron advanced.

"I wonder who is in charge of this big fuss." Augustus muttered to himself, seeing the young auburn-haired man step into the limelight, "Man, I hope Aaron doesn't disappoint."

He watched in silence, seeing Aaron draw his blade and pointing at the golden haired man but a weird silver haired giant stepped out, charging directly as the observant Aaron.

Aaron swung his blade, collided with that of the giant, and the ground cracked under them, shattering to a million pieces. Aaron leaped away, and the giant dashed backwards.

As the duo put distance between themselves, the battle entered its boiling point. Both sides engaged in a fierce massacre, while Aaron stood and observed, his gaze calculative.

"They aren't committing to the battle. Did someone catch on to my plans?" Aaron felt a cold shiver run down his spine as the thought entered his head, "That's not interesting."

An arrow tore through the crowd, flying for his face, but Aaron reached out his hand and caught in mid-air. He paused, glaring in the direction the arrow had flown out from.

Augustus's aura emerged, watching as some soldiers of the enemy team ganged up to attack him. As they swung their blades, he took in a deep breath and stepped backwards.

Augustus dashed forward, swinging his own blade as he evaded theirs, cutting through their armour and flesh like butter, and moving behind them, towards the giant challenger.

"Ylil, they've caught on!" Augustus yelled, twirling to the side to dodge a stray arrow as he dashed past Aaron, his gaze locked on Ylil who was right behind the giant, "Stop it!"

"Stop what?" Ylil turned to him, raising her brow. At that instance, both the giant and the golden haired man swung their weapons in her face, aiming to punish her with death.

At that moment, Aaron stepped forward and slashed at the giant's leg, causing him to tilt backwards, ruining his blade's trajectory. This gave Lily a chance to retreat from them.

"The skirmish. They are no using their full force." Augustus joined Lily, his gaze as icy as the heart of an avalanche, "Someone in there has gotten how we are planning to win."

"Gotten it how? Was it really that obvious?" Lily frowned, watching as both the gold haired man and the silver haired giant turned to face them, "Why's that one gold haired?"

Augustus frowned, just as confused as Lily was, but the battle has reached a stalemate between both forces. Until one of them made a crucial mistake, the tables would not turn.

"I can finish them all off with a single combo." Aaron proposed, turning to glare at the thoughtful Augustus out of the corner of his eyes, "Give me your word, Prince Augustus."

Augustus narrowed his eyes, then sighed. He straightened his spine, lifted his chin and pointing his blade to the silver haired giant, "Why don't we put an end to this madness?"

Although Aaron's burst was strong, it wouldn't be enough to finish off these armoured knights. Augustus needed bait, to draw out their defensive skills first, before Aaron struck.

"How do you propose we do that, worm?" Pius glared down upon Augustus, towering nearly double the young man's size, his chiselled face was seemingly carved out of rocks.

"I will let any of you challenge me to a duel. If you kill me, you win. If I kill you all, I win." Augustus waited as Lily and Aaron parted from him, "You can all rush me at once."

An irresistible trap, was it not?
