Fairy Tail Destiny-Chapter 208: Ch : Seven years later
Chapter 208 - Ch 208 : Seven years later
Consciousness gradually settled, as if trudging through a swamp—every step forward required exhausting all of one's strength to struggle, just like the contradictions in Noel's heart.
Everything in sight was a deep, chaotic abyss, with no discernible boundaries.
It seemed as though even the one proof of existence—the sound of a beating heart—had been swallowed by the infinite darkness.
This place could erode everything: sound, color, body, memory, personality, and even the self.
Yet, even so, Noel continued to move forward.
It felt as if, without doing so, he would be lost forever in the abyss of his consciousness, never able to find his original self again.
He did not know how long he had been struggling—so long that he had almost grown numb—when the unchanging darkness finally began to shift.
Before his eyes unfolded a scene of pure carnage, a hellish battlefield.
Thick, viscous blood had stained the ground a ghastly crimson.
Countless shattered and scattered corpses lay piled upon one another in utter disarray.
A red crescent moon hung in the sky, casting a faint, blood-tinged glow over the land, making the already terrifying scene even more nightmarish.
And at the center of that mountain of corpses and sea of blood, a golden-haired boy knelt.
His head was tilted upward, gazing at the crescent moon in the sky.
He remained motionless, his body stained with blood, frozen in that eerie, unsettling posture.
Noel silently watched the scene unfold, saying nothing.
"Are you going to run away again?" the kneeling boy spoke.
He continued to gaze at the blood moon, his body remaining completely still, his eyes never shifting toward Noel.
His face was covered in bloodstains, yet the unmistakable mocking smile at the corner of his lips remained clear.
"....."
"After all these years, you haven't made any progress at all—still just as cowardly," the boy continued speaking to himself without waiting for Noel's reply.
"Back then, you sealed your sister away, repeatedly telling yourself it was the best choice. But in the end, it was nothing more than self-satisfaction. Even after all this time, you are still the same powerless, weak-willed Nord. Your time stopped that night ten years ago."
After finishing his words, the boy fell silent.
Noel, too, said nothing, and the space around them was engulfed in an eerie stillness.
No one knew how much time had passed—perhaps just a moment, perhaps several days.
At last, Noel, who had remained silent all this time, slowly lifted his head and spoke in a low voice, "I know... I know it all too well. I've never truly escaped from the shadow of that night. Maybe, just as you said, my time really did stop ten years ago... I have carried far too many sins, and I have no right to seek forgiveness, nor to forgive others. But even so... even someone like me, at this moment, wants to move forward. If I cannot take this step, then I will never be worthy of standing before Lia again."
Noel lifted his foot and took a step forward.
It was a small step, yet it triggered an extraordinary transformation.
In an instant, everything in the space shattered like glass—the blood moon, the mountains of corpses, the rivers of blood—all vanished.
Only that small, solitary figure remained.
"Have you finally let go?" A faint voice reached Noel's ears.
Noel shook his head. "No, I can't let go. But... it's precisely because I can't let go that I can clearly feel the need to move forward. If I don't move forward, nothing will ever begin, and nothing will ever end."
The boy smiled.
This time, it was no longer a mocking smile but one of quiet relief and peace.
"I'll leave the rest to you. This time, you can do it."
Noel nodded.
The boy's figure slowly faded away, and the entire space collapsed completely, dissolving into nothingness.
Watching it all disappear, Noel let out a soft sigh and murmured, "Thank you... my past self."
..............
Noel slowly opened his eyes, and his vision finally focused, allowing him to see the figure calling out to him.
"You are... Arzak?"
Noel asked hesitantly.
The man before him bore at least an eighty percent resemblance to the Arzak he remembered in both appearance and demeanor, but his hair had become a neat, short cut, and he seemed more mature overall.
That slight change made Noel hesitant as he spoke.
Upon hearing Noel's words, the man—who appeared to be Arzak—showed an expression of pure excitement, with tears even welling up at the corners of his eyes.
"Noel! Is it really you?! Are you really okay?!" frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
"What exactly happened? I only remember us being defeated by the Demon God's Soul, then that black attack struck Tenrou Island... After that, everything went blank."
Arzak took a moment to compose himself before speaking, his words disjointed and fragmented.
Though his explanation lacked coherence, Noel was still able to grasp the general meaning.
"You're saying... seven years have passed?!"
Noel's eyes widened in shock, struggling to process this staggering truth.
He even suspected that Arzak was joking with him, but the serious look on Arzak's face suggested otherwise.
Moreover, Arzak's appearance was indeed different from what Noel remembered.
Though he was reluctant to accept it, he had to admit that this explanation was the most plausible given the current circumstances.
"What about everyone else?" Noel suddenly thought of his companions and looked around.
To his relief, his comrades were also awakening, and other guild members who had arrived with Arzak were explaining to them that seven years had passed.
Seeing that everyone was safe, Noel finally had the chance to process the reality of those missing years.
"What exactly happened...?" he muttered in confusion.
As soon as the words left his lips, an ethereal voice suddenly echoed, as if answering his question:
"At that moment, I converted everyone's bonds and feelings of mutual trust into magic. Those emotions triggered one of the three great Fairy Magics—Fairy Sphere. This magic protects the guild from any evil force and serves as an absolute defense. However, in exchange, everyone was sealed within it. By the time the seal was lifted, seven years had already passed."
"Who are you?" Noel looked at the golden-haired, feather-eared girl standing not far away and asked softly.
"I am the first master of Fairy Tail—Mavis Vermillion," the girl replied.
This revelation nearly stunned everyone present.
"It was the First who protected us?" Makarov was the first to regain his composure and spoke with gratitude.
Mavis gently shook her head, denying Makarov's assumption.
"No, I am merely a spirit. Converting everyone's strength into magic had already exhausted my power. But unwavering faith and strong bonds can even bring about miracles..."
Fairy Tail has become a truly wonderful guild, Third Master."
Mavis said, her face lighting up with a joyful smile.
