Falling into Her Trap: Don't Cross the Line, Mr. President-Chapter 143: I’m Hitting You, Scumbag!
Claire stretched out her toe and nudged his trousers, the hint was quite obvious.
Ethan Blackwood was just about to lean down when his phone rang.
He sighed helplessly, "Sorry, there’s a lot going on recently."
Claire was also a bit resigned, "Go ahead, take care of what you need to."
Ethan gently patted her head, "Don’t wait up for me tonight, go to bed early."
"Alright."
He hurriedly left, and Claire knew he hadn’t officially taken over the Blackwood Family yet, this was his busiest time.
Claire looked at the spacious room, sitting on the soft mattress, really felt like a canary kept by Ethan Blackwood.
She knew she couldn’t go on like this, being slowly eroded by a man’s sweet talk, over time she would gradually lose herself.
Initially, she was supposed to report to the company at the beginning of next month, but Claire decided to visit the mall the next day to inspect jewelry brands.
Having been out of the loop for two years, if she didn’t get familiar with the market and just talked big, it could lead to failure.
Getting that seven million wasn’t going to be easy.
Once Claire made a decision, she became decisive and straightforward, no longer worrying about when Ethan would be done, she fell asleep right away.
Just before dawn, she felt a tickling, cool sensation on the sole of her foot, and vaguely felt someone changing her dressing.
When she woke up, the pain in her foot had significantly reduced, and Ethan had already headed to the office.
Claire shook herself awake, and this time she learned her lesson. When she went shopping with Mia Hughes, she brought along bodyguards, having Wyatt and Leo follow at a distance.
Mia whispered nervously, "Claire, I always feel this mall is a bit eerie, I heard there’s something that follows closely behind people."
Claire couldn’t help but laugh, "That’s just your imagination."
"By the way, the other day Mr. Blackwood suddenly called me, he sounded really urgent, did he need something from you?"
Claire found an excuse to gloss over it, "Hmm, he was asking about some matters concerning Mason."
"But I feel like he..."
Mia wanted to ask more questions, but Claire had already pulled her over to SN’s counter, the company Claire was about to join.
The store spanned five floors, and the lobby looked like a palace; one could see their reflection clearly in the tiles and glass.
This even made the usually fearless Mia wilt instantly, "Claire, you’re resigning, not getting a divorce, there’s no rich ex-husband giving you a hefty settlement..."
Claire chuckled lightly, "Just take a look."
A sales associate approached, Claire was wearing a cheongsam custom-made by Ethan Blackwood, and with their looks, at first glance, they seemed like daughters of some wealthy family, the sales associate was very enthusiastic.
The higher the floor, the different the clientele it catered to, SN’s entry-level products start in the six-figure range.
Mia was dazzled by the jewelry on the first floor, while Claire patiently asked the salesgirl about the sales situations, and when other customers were choosing, Claire would listen in.
The salesgirl sensed professionalism from her words, secretly guessing her identity, wondering if she was sent from above for an undercover visit, and dared not slack off.
Claire browsed from the first to the fourth floor, standing at the stairway, "I want to take a look at the fifth floor."
The fifth floor only served supreme card customers, ones whose sales exceeded nine figures, not for the general public.
But suspecting Claire’s identity, the salesgirl took the liberty of bringing her up.
"Miss, the styles here are all exclusively designed by our brand designers, released globally in limited editions, specifically for supreme card customers."
"Please introduce them to me."
"No problem, if you like any series or want an exclusive custom piece, you can tell me."
Mia shielded her eyes when she saw the prices, "Claire, let’s go back downstairs, these pieces cost more than the days I’ve been alive, they’re giving me dizziness."
"You go sit for a bit, I’ll look around more."
The salesgirl was very patient, detailing everything from design concepts to sales.
Claire’s eyes landed on a set of pink diamond necklaces, "Miss, you have a good eye, this Rose Garden set is a classic from our chief design brand’s high-end series, the vivid pink is bright and vibrant, perfect for someone like you, currently, we only have this set left in our store, if you’re interested..."
Before Claire could refuse, a lazy voice sounded beside her, "I’ll take this set."
"Mrs. Blackwood! You’ve come, I’ll get it ready for you right away." Another salesgirl rushed forward.
Claire turned to see the arrival, and it was Owen Crawford’s aunt.
The two had crossed paths before, back then she, like Mrs. Crawford, didn’t think much of Claire.
When she saw Claire appear, she was momentarily taken aback, "I say, is SN going bankrupt? This is the supreme area, not the street, why are they bringing anyone up here?" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
The salesgirl looked awkward, bringing forth refreshments, "Mrs. Blackwood, sorry for the inconvenience, please have a drink and rest, my colleague will assist you."
Yvonne Crawford wasn’t satisfied, directly pointing at Claire’s nose, "How did she get here? Does she have a card? Sharing the same space with such riffraff, I feel like a pauper."
Claire couldn’t understand why trouble always found her whenever she went out.
The salesgirl who brought Claire quickly apologized, "Mrs. Blackwood, you’re pregnant, please don’t get upset, I’ve already chased up your pre-ordered bracelet, it should arrive in the next few days."
"It’s not about the bracelet now, it’s about her, do you know who she is?"
Yvonne Crawford looked high and mighty, "Her mother was a mistress..."
Suddenly, everyone in the store turned to look at Claire, Mia, who was eating macarons, jumped up, "You’re pregnant, tell your child to watch their words or face the consequences one day."
"And who are you? Dressed like a rag-picker, aren’t you people going to throw these two pieces of trash out?"
"My dear aunt, who’s upset you?" Owen Crawford’s voice echoed.
When he saw Claire not far away, back when they were together, Claire rarely wore dresses, let alone a cheongsam, and he was captivated by the sight.
"Isn’t it your shameless ex-girlfriend, don’t know how she snuck in, looking this shabby, she dared to compete with me for something, I was having them thrown out."
Owen quickly settled Yvonne into a seat, "Dear Aunt, she’s still a woman after all, why be so aggressive, have you made your choice?"
"Look at this, the pink diamond set looks nice; I’ve heard your uncle’s little wife is quite young, and young girls probably like these bright diamonds."
When Claire heard this, a shiver went down her spine; could she be referring to her as the "little wife"?
Ethan had mentioned taking her to his brother’s home for dinner, seemed they did not win over Ethan, now they wanted to cozy up to her.
Claire found it a bit funny, they didn’t realize the person they wanted to get close to was standing right in front of them.
Owen responded quietly, but his eyes fixated on Claire, "My dear aunt has an exquisite taste, whatever you decide."
He dismissed the salesgirl, "She’s a friend of mine, it’s alright now."
As he walked over, Mia shielded Claire protectively like a mother hen, "What do you want?"
"I just want to have a few words with Claire."
Claire stood gracefully, her back straight, with a newfound dislike as she looked at him, "Mr. Crawford, is there anything else?"
Owen held a necklace, "Do you know how much this is worth? That man you’re with couldn’t afford even one of these diamonds if he sold everything he owned, Claire, while I’m still slightly interested in you, you can still..."
"Slap!"
Claire raised her hand and slapped Owen hard.
"You dare hit..."
"Slap!"
Another slap, this time to the other side of his face, "I hit you because you’re such a scumbag!"
