False Villain : Anunnaki System vs Demon Contract-Chapter 64 - 061. Ritual? What Ritual?
Chapter 64: 061. Ritual? What Ritual?
A week has passed since Gilgamesh’s world-shaking speech. The situation is getting worse and military forces are now mobilized to contain the rebellion movement by the system users.
There were even rumors of some powerful system users starting to unite and form their own movement.
Of course that was not something Reizel wanted to worry about. Although he was also a system user, he couldn’t imagine the frightened face of his little sister.
Reizel, his father and his little sister moved to the outskirts and lived in an old house made of wood.
The house had been abandoned for a long time and there were many plants and bushes surrounding it. Suitable as a hiding place.
Unfortunately, that alone would not guarantee their survival and now, they had almost run out of food.
Although it was a bit hard, but Reizel intended to look for food supplies that hopefully still hadn’t been looted.
Just as he was about to leave, his father, Herman, told Reizel to find two pairs of chickens to raise as their food stock.
Reizel was a little hesitant about his father’s statement considering that chickens are quite noisy animals and could expose their hiding place. But Herman was very clear that Reizel didn’t need to think about such trivial things.
Although a bit hesitant, Reizel still obeyed his father’s orders and looked for 2 roosters and 2 hens.
It was not an easy thing, plus he had to look for them without the help of a vehicle because the gas tank of his motorcycle had been empty since two days ago.
He set out in the morning and continued searching until noon. He went through a lot of chaos that was compounded by the lack of boundaries and laws. Coupled with the lack of usable resources and people leaving their jobs, there was nothing to look forward to.
All the shops had been looted and soon, they would probably loot the farms and plantations.
After wandering around for a few hours, Reizel found a simple chicken farm. But unfortunately, it was guarded by a few locals armed with machetes that were covered in blood.
Reizel hid behind the bushes while watching.
Had those people killed someone else?
It was possible. And this made Reizel’s situation even more difficult. He could either try to steal the chickens as directed by his father at the risk of being killed, or he could try to negotiate his way into the group.
For a moment, Reizel wanted to negotiate with the group, but then he realized that their machetes were covered in blood. What guarantee that his life would be safe?
Reizel immediately stopped his steps and rethought his actions.
While he was still contemplating with the steps he should take, someone suddenly approached that group of chicken farmers.
That person was none other than Gilbert. A bald-headed man with a muscular body and wearing no shirt.
At first glance, that person looked like an ordinary person, but Reizel still didn’t realize that the bald man was an alchemy-type system user.
Reizel remained silent and watched from behind the bushes and watched Gilbert who seemed to want to talk to the chicken farmers.
The wavy-haired man could not hear their conversation clearly, but at least he could see their body movements.
At first, their conversation seemed smooth, but suddenly everything changed. Reizel didn’t know what Gilbert said, but the chicken farmers seemed angry and cut the bald man down.
Sadly, it was a wasted effort, as their machetes didn’t manage to scratch Gilbert even a bit.
The collection of sharp weapons only scratched the black layer above the surface of Gilbert’s skin.
Carbon, a complex layer of carbon that was strong enough to withstand attacks like machete slashes.
That was when Reizel realized that the person he had been watching was a system user.
After the attack, Gilbert no longer spoke, he switched to a counterattack strategy and slashed everything.
The bald man turned his hand into a strong and sharp carbon blade and slashed at everyone there.
While the two parties were busy killing each other, Reizel took the opportunity to steal a pair of chickens. 1 rooster, 1 hen.
He originally wanted to take 2 pairs of chickens, but the situation was too dangerous to do so.
Reizel managed to take 2 chickens from the farm and ran away.
Unfortunately, his escape was not as smooth as he thought and instead gained the attention of Gilbert who had just finished slaughtering those who would not cooperate with him.
The wavy-haired man ran as fast as he could, but the sound of the chicken he was carrying made the situation as worse as possible.
There was someone chasing him and that someone was Gilbert.
Reizel had neither the time nor the opportunity to fight Gilbert and win. He was also a system user, but the bald man’s system was on a different level.
He could only run away and pray that he wouldn’t get caught.
Reizel kept running but he kept getting chased. Only 100 meters away from the hiding place and Reizel suddenly stumbled.
He fell on the ground covered with short grass.
Reizel could only lie down while looking at Gilbert who was walking closer and closer.
When Gilbert was a few meters in front of Reizel, the bald man looked confused. He looked left and right. He looked up and around as if looking for something.
But what was he looking for?
Wasn’t he chasing Reizel?
Why was he acting as if he didn’t see Reizel who was a few meters in front of him?
Reizel didn’t understand what was happening but he was relieved because now, Gilbert turned around and walked away.
Reizel breathed a sigh of relief and lay down to stare at the sky. "What’s going on? What’s really going on?"
The wavy-haired man stood up and continued the rest of his journey on foot.
Once he arrived at the safe house, Reizel met his father and told him what happened. Everything, from the beginning of the journey to find the chicken to the strange incident he had just experienced.
Herman smiled slightly. "It worked, the ritual worked."
Reizel couldn’t understand more. He tilted his head while raising one of his eyebrows. "What worked?"
Herman didn’t answer and instead chuckled and laughed.
Reizel didn’t want to deal with his father’s madness at the moment, he had enough of strange things in one day.
The wavy-haired man went to the room where his sister was and was immediately surprised when he saw Lana sitting against the wall with a pale face while next to her was a kalomba eating coconut pulp.
Reizel did not understand what was happening, but he immediately picked Lana up while continuing to stare at the kalomba.
"Lana! Are you okay?" Reizel shouted.
Lana who looked pale could only respond in a low tone. "It’s okay, big brother, I’m just sleepy."
Lana then fell asleep and the situation did not calm Reizel down at all.
In the midst of the panic, Herman stepped into the room with a big smile.
"Take it easy, no need to worry. The ritual worked," Herman said, making Reizel felt a sudden goosebumps.
Reizel stared at his father with wide open eyes and trembling lips. "A... What... What does he mean by the ritual was successful? What ritual?"
