Farmer or Cultivator? Why not both?-Chapter 47: An impressive regular human.
A mother and child stepped forward, asking if they could have a taste of this drink. The people had trusted Ren enough, and in a sense he was a local celebrity with news of his exploits and his riches having circulated about.
"Milk, it is my version of milk." He mentioned, perhaps they did not hear him, but he wanted people to know of it as milk and nothing else.
Ren poured a full cup, and handed it to the woman who collected the cup with a bow and a curtesy.
"Thank you," she stated before gulping down the entire liquid. Ren could hear the sucking sounds that were made when one sucked air from a container, she wanted every last drop of the milk.
"Oh by the gods! This is the sweetest milk I have ever had." She roared. Now, people had been watching her, and when she made the claim, they were instantly riled up, the milk in the bottle after all was limited and they all wanted a taste before it got priced.
"Is this truly milk?" She asked.
"It is, with a special ingredient." Ren said with a wink, and the young woman blushed. She pushed forward her child to take his cup. Unsurprisingly, the child loved the milk, downing all of it and almost seeming like he intended to swallow the cup alongside it. He wore a satisfied look, and smiled, not uttering any words.
It was all that was needed for the others to get even riled up about the prospect of trying this milk. Ren had not mentioned a price, but from the reactions of the two that had had it, the pretty unique hue, and the fact that it was quite a limited amount convinced the people well enough that it would be expensive, so best they try their chances and have a taste while it was free.
Soon a queue was formed consisting of Women and children. Too many people for little milk. They were even blocking the path right through the stalls.
Ren let out a sigh, he knew people would love it, but he had not anticipated this much traction. Widows and children most of them were, it would not look good to not give them a free taste when others had.
’I suppose I will have the make today’s bottles free.’
Eldrad soon heard noise from the clamoring and stepped out. He gazed at Ren’s stall with his hands on his waists, wondering what it was that incited the people so. Tunish was an incredibly dull place, for people to be gathered like this had to be a thing of interest. He crept closer, and so did Tuarine who had been watching all along until her father stepped out.
Child, woman, Ren tried to give everyone. He however was obstinate on having people take from the cup, he was not going to give his wineskins away, that, he was quite stubborn about. Some on the queue instead brought their cups. After about giving twenty people a drink, the bottles were exhausted. and Ren stood atop his table, and cried out to the people.
"My milk will be sold tomorrow as well, a wineskin will be sold for three copper coins so make sure you come to get some. To those of you who weren’t able to get a drink, I am sorry you could not, but like everyone you could come tomorrow to buy. Come buy before I run out of milk to sell."
Those that had waited in the queue groaned in dissatisfaction, but ultimately there was nothing they could do, and they soon began dispersing. Ren sat on the stool he had gotten and let out a loud sigh of relief. That had not gone according to plan, but it went well. He could imagine the profits he would collect tomorrow. It was good that he had discovered around this time where the milk sellers had not returned to seeking milk as their spouses were dead. If not, he certainly would have generated animosity from them as they would not sell and their milk would spoil, while people lined up for his own milk.
"I did not think that you were a merchant like so. You surprise me every time I see you." Eldrad commented. Ren looked at the smiling old man, and then looked up to his frowning daughter.
"I am many things." Ren commented and smirked. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Erigald could find you to be a competition if you get further. You are already making him quite rich with your sweet berries, I wonder how he’ll feel when you take his market."
"Erigald is noble, he will understand, and perhaps we could form a partnership. He knows the market is always fair, and it would always select the best."
"Fair point. How much for a bottle?" Not a wineskin, a bottle. Ren smirked, "I will give you one, it is on me."
Eldrad nodded, "Thank you Ren." He said, and walked past him. Whereas Tuarine just simply stood staring at him.
"Well...Would you say something?" Ren blurted once he got tired of waiting on her to say the first word.
She sighed, and arched back her neck, she brought it forward, her eyes meeting Ren’s.
"I don’t believe you are as special as father makes you seem, I don’t think for once that perhaps you are a chosen one, but you have remained quite the interesting character, I’ll give you that." She commented, and walked away before Ren could say anything.
Ren stood up, and cried to her, "Are you not going to buy some of my milk too? I could give you one if you ask." Ren said with a smile. Tuarine on the other hand did not give a response nor did she look back, she wore a large smile however.
Ren crashed on his wooden seat, he watched Tuarine go. He activated [Mana sense] [Mana perception] and he saw for himself her mana. Tuarine was no cultivator, but she was very capable of defending herself. Her mana burned calmly in her mana core, she had more than most. Should she flare up her mana, Ren would be able to tell of more qualities. Regardless, she was quite impressive already, for a regular human.
