This is evident from their mobilization of a large number of farmers from the Komeer Kingdom to go and reclaim the land. Without the cooperation of local Noble Lords, it would not be an easy task for a mercenary group, even a strong one, just as without Zalanda’s cooperation, the number of immigrants Gaven could mobilize would be greatly reduced.

In this matter, they have invested unknown amounts of manpower and resources. How could they easily let someone else take it over?

Now in the Royal Court Conference Hall, the opinions of Komeer’s nobility have mainly divided into three factions.

One faction is the maximal benefit faction, represented by Lord Makser. He believes that binding the Conqueror Gaven to Rocklands is a very cost-effective deal, not only giving hope to the pacification of Rocklands, but Komeer Kingdom can also use the influence of this strongman to expand externally. This would be a win-win situation benefiting the whole nation, and in the process, only a few families would need to set aside their self-interests.

The supporters of this faction are few and far between. If people were without self-interest, the world would have been at peace long ago, and they would have reached a consensus by now, so why would there still be such intrigue and argumentation here?

The second faction is for the re-delineation of the Rocklands map. They believe that the original delineation of the Rocklands is outdated and must take the opportunity for a new division. The focus is on Tivandun and the surrounding Red Spring Reclamation Area, which should be carved out as a separate district. This would not only protect the vested interests of the Kingdom but also effectively check the ennobled lord of the Rocklands.

The proposer of this idea is Alaselene Qiuchang, the City Lord of Tivantum City, a typical beneficiary of this situation. If Tivandun is tied to the Rocklands and presented as a dukedom to the Conqueror Gaven, where would she, who has just taken office less than three years ago, position herself?

She is the one least hoping for the pacification of the Rocklands - or at least, she does not want it to be pacified by anyone else. This task should be hers to complete. Aside from Gaven and the Red Crow Mercenary Brigade, she is the third most concerned about the pacification of the Rocklands but is currently powerless to act.

Although she comes from a noble family, her family fortunes had been in decline for years, and in her earlier years, she was even forced to join mercenary groups to make a living. It was only after joining the Purple Dragon Legion that her situation improved, and she was eventually recommended as the City Lord of Tivantum City, aiding in her family’s revitalization.

But Tivantum itself is not a peaceful land. As an outsider engaging in endless power struggles with the local forces there, she had exhausted all her energy over the past three years. Let alone pacifying the Rocklands, even the comparatively affluent Red Spring Reclamation Area was beyond her developable reach. This allowed the Red Crow Mercenary Brigade, backed by Abel City, to get the upper hand.

The third faction opposes the re-delineation of the Rocklands map and also opposes ennobling Gaven as the lord of the Rocklands, instead following the original agreement: whoever pacifies the Rocklands first shall be the one ennobled, regardless of their background.
