Chapter 438: The Ghost of the Past (5)
"Sir, they've found him"
"Good, there's still five more minutes till the agreed time. Tell our men to keep an eye on him and don't lose him"
They calmly passed through the roadblocks on the road without any problems since the checks for vehicles entering the city are a little looser compared to those leaving the city where police performed thorough checks on them, which is actually a little careless on the side of the authorities as they seem to have assumed that the kidnappers are hiding within the city.
Clearly, they had forgotten to factor the chance that they could be holing up deep in the mountains to evade their eyes.
Missing the chance of getting them under their radar as they moved through the city, which would have made their job a little easier than blindly looking for them.
"They've set up checkpoints at every road and barely inspected the cars coming in. What was the point of even doing it if they would just do such a lousy job?"
Seeing how they easily went past the checkpoints, Nash, who was driving the second vehicle, couldn't help but criticize the authorities.
'That might be so, and seeing that there's not even a single news outlet reporting our deeds of kidnapping the kid. It seems the news that my uncle had really hooked up with Olivia is real. That bastard didn't even know he had married someone with influence and actually left her for a younger girl, who eventually also left him in the end, but thanks to that, I managed to find my super nice uncle'
Nash's boss didn't hear him though as he was lost in his own thoughts, while at the same time, he also wondered, does Randy know that it was him behind everything tonight?
Soon, the two cars went their separate ways. One continued along the road towards the direction of Central Park, while the other car following behind it turned into a corner and was headed somewhere.
Meanwhile, at another corner of the city.
Two feminine figures could be seen standing on the rooftop of a tall building with binoculars in their hands, and in the corner, a sniper rifle can be seen leaning on the wall in an upright manner.
"Why are we doing this when it's not even our business?"
When the light from the only source of light on the rooftop lightly shined on one of the women, it revealed that it was actually Tony complaining in a frustrated voice towards the other woman beside her.
"Shut it, what Michael brought up to me has a point. If that Randy really spares his nephew and that latter still doesn't let go of his hatred. Just imagine what would happen if that bastard starts looking for people to work with him? Do not forget that we also have enemies of our own, and if he happens to encounter even one of them, it's not just going to be a simple revenge"
The other woman, who was obviously Miya, scolded her friend. She didn't even elaborate what she meant by her words but Tony could already imagine the resulting events if those bastards manage to catch even a glimpse of their tail.
"Dammit! This is why I told you guys before that we should have eliminated them one by one before retiring. Now, you're just realizing that you should have listened to me back then when someone had come to take Randy's life"
"Shut up!"
Tony furiously scratched her head while complaining to Miya, and the latter was clearly annoyed as she couldn't help but raise her voice towards her.
"Should we start keeping tabs on them?" asked Tony after a short silence between them.
With a thoughtful expression on her face, Miya walked towards the rifle and picked it up while saying, "Hmm, I guess we should start doing it from now on. The events that will take place tonight can easily be hidden from the public eye and the authorities can just blame it on any of those terrorist organizations, but I'm sure those people hiding in the shadows would certainly get wind of the truth behind it, and if they dig enough, they'd certainly learn that Randy is involve with the events tonight"
"I'll contact Silver Fox right after this. At the same time, don't you wonder how that little bastard even managed to know Randy's whereabouts?" said Tony with doubt painted all over her face.
Miya turned towards her and looked at her face, and she couldn't help but giggle, "Don't do that, it doesn't suit you"
Hearing her words, Tony glared at her and said in anger, "Shut it, I'm smart! Only you fools think that I'm not! But jokes aside, how did a brat like him even find Randy?"
Miya just sighed and covered her face with her palm and said, "I didn't say anything about you not being smart, and you don't need to delve too much on how he did it. Clearly, Olivia's ex-husband and Randy's nephew must have had some connection with each other even before Randy entered Olivia's life. He might have mentioned his ex-wife's new boyfriend in passing and the kid got curious about it. After all, we can't deny the fact that Olivia is one beautiful woman, and any man, young or old would certainly be curious of what kind of a man managed to snag a prized fish like her"
"She's a fish? How come I didn't know?"
Tony looked at Miya with shock painted all over her face! Her expression was so real that it would seriously confuse anyone if she was actually being serious or just plain…dumb.
Miya stared at her friend, then just turned her head away with a sigh.
'Sometimes I really just don't know if she's just plain stupid or she's just acting like one'
"Hey, is she really a fish? Why didn't anyone tell me? Shouldn't we warn Randy what she really is?!"
Miya just didn't say anything, she just tried to block her off from her surroundings while Tony kept chattering about Olivia being a fish.
Shaking her head, Miya used the scope of the sniper rifle and watched the surroundings of the building where Randy had taken his position, especially towards the people she deemed suspicious.
"Look, they're here. Over there, that white SUV stopping in front of Starwacks"
While Miya was doing that, she suddenly heard Tony say something, so she quickly moved her scope towards the place that she was about talking about, and Miya did saw a group of suspicious people disembarking from a white SUV, and it become even more apparent when she saw their target getting down from the vehicle.
Smiling, Miya muttered, "Show time"
