Chapter 474: Abandoned Cave (2)

'What a troublesome situation!' She thought madly inside her as her eyes kept darting around her surroundings trying to find a breakthrough point through the pack of zombies closing in on her!

'There has to be another way out of this!'

In a moment of inspiration, she finally remembered a new skill she had recently acquired but had yet to use – Shadowmeld!

This ability allowed her to blend into the shadows, becoming nearly invisible to her enemies!

Though there's a lot of drawback on its use since it only lasts for a couple of seconds, but those few seconds are enough for her!

Without hesitation, Solitary Tempest threw the torch she was holding to the ground near her and immediately activated Shadowmeld and held her breath as her body slowly melted through the shadows produced by the light coming from the torch on the ground.

Darting through the shadows, Solitary Tempest arrived inside a small crevice on the cave wall that she saw earlier, which was just enough to fit one person and quickly darted inside.

The monstrous pack searched for her, their noses sniffing the air in frustration when their prey suddenly disappeared before them.

A few moments later, the zombie pack began to slowly disperse in multiple directions. She stayed inside that crevice for a few more minutes before she dared to come out and poke her head out, looking left and right for any signs of them.

'I didn't expect that I would be so unlucky to encounter such a scary bunch' she thought with a shiver while thinking that she had almost died earlier from an unlucky encounter of meeting another lone zombie after the first one.

Her confrontation from that following zombie unlucky attracted the attention of a zombie nearby, until those two zombies turned into a pack of flesh hungry monsters chasing after her!

She could only sigh at her bad luck and continued her search for the mithril ore.

'Since it clearly mentioned on those monster descriptions earlier that those zombies were reanimated due to the influence of miasma, the chances that there's mithril around is high, though I hope that this one won't be a bust! Now, where's that damn mithril!?'

Mithril Ores, such rare metals can only be found in places blooming with life that it would be like paradise on Earth, full of life energy!

Another sign of their existence is finding areas affected by Miasma. Since miasma is also another type of energy, which is also the exact opposite of life energy, the dark energy!

Solitary Tempest was feeling hopeful because of the existence of miasma, since she has a pretty high resistance against dark energy, making the current situation favorable for her. Even though she can only run away if she encounters two or more monsters.

Finally, after navigating through the treacherous tunnels and battling nightmarish creatures, Solitary Tempest, with her luck towering through the skies, finally stumbled upon a hidden chamber! The walls were lined with veins of shimmering mithril ore, but instead of the usual soft silvery glow that should be illuminating the areas around them, these ores on the other hand are devoid of that glow.

Instead, they just softly shimmered like stars in the night. Anyone that has no profound knowledge on this kind of ores would probably just ignore them and walk past them.

'I found it! First ever cave, and I've already found not one, but a whole vein!' she thought, elation coursing through her. 'All this danger and hardship was worth it! But I need to gather these ores quickly – who knows what else lurks in these tunnels?'

Solitary Tempest set to work, carefully extracting the precious mithril from the chamber walls. As she did so, she couldn't help but reflect on her harrowing journey and the trials she had faced along the way.

'It was a tortuous journey! And even though I've only killed one monster and just escaped from the rest, I've already gained a lot just from the size of this ore vein, I've also managed to record a rare zombie variant, and found this amazing place to grind levels! Let's also not forget about my confrontation against Dark Fel, someone who I haven't seen in a while, and even though she still wants to kill me, it was nice knowing that she's still a crybaby when she loses against me' She thought and thinking about Dark Fel made her chuckle.

'And in the world of Fate Online, strength really is everything. I need to become more stronger, acquire more powerful items and surpass the current Shadow, and this is my chance to surpass him while he's busy on his MT!'

With her pack filled with the valuable ore, Solitary Tempest began the treacherous journey back to the surface, determined to forge her newfound wealth into a powerful weapon – one that would secure her place among the players of Fate Online, that she, Solitary Tempest is still the most powerful player in the gaming community!

Though on the other hand, if Dark Fel actually happened to hear about what took place after she died. She would probably become gobsmacked since she didn't even see any signs of life when she explored that abandoned mining cave!

Unfortunately for her, she would never know that her intrusion into that mining cave actually triggered something, causing a huge change when it was Solitary Tempest's turn to explore the place!

Solitary Tempest was also fortunate, oblivious to the fact that there are far more dangers if she had gone deeper into the cave tunnels. She was incredibly lucky to have stumbled onto that Mithril Vein.

Deeper into the tunnels, a mysterious figure sat leaning against the cave wall with their right hand resting on their right knee.

"Another human, and a promising one at that. Seems like the Humans and the other races managed to triumph against the Sea Race after my slumber, and this familiar smell, it seems like they are starting to stir again"

After saying those words in such a muffled deep voice, the mysterious being once again descended into a stifling silence.
