Fated love: the unwanted bride-Chapter 2142: I’m Taking It With Me
Elder Axel was momentarily puzzled by what Jasmine Yale meant by her words, looking confused: "Huh? Why work hard?"
Jasmine Yale smiled, revealing two shallow dimples: "After working hard, I can afford a car. It’s inconvenient to travel with the baby, having a car is better."
Elder Axel first had an epiphany, then asked, "You can drive?"
"Yes, my skills are quite okay."
Elder Axel was silent. It seemed that Jasmine Yale and the boss really didn’t have any fate together.
It made sense, the boss liked Jasmine Yale, likely out of novelty. After all, Jasmine Yale had a good personality and was easy to like.
But to say he would marry her... that possibility was almost nonexistent.
No successful young man would want to be a stepfather.
"Next year I should be able to afford a car. Once this project is finished, I can get a bonus," Jasmine Yale calculated, sighing.
"Work hard and you’ll have one," Elder Axel said.
"Yes, I will work hard," Jasmine Yale was full of confidence.
Elder Axel lightly shook his head.
Fate seemed quite unfair to this young woman, but she never seemed to know sorrow, always bearing confidence and a smile on her face.
Such a young woman, one couldn’t bear to hurt her, not even with a harsh word.
Elder Axel and Jasmine Yale didn’t have much in common to talk about, and Elder Axel wasn’t good at finding topics of conversation. So, after talking a bit about work, the car fell silent.
With the light from outside street lamps, Jasmine Yale saw that her bear keychain was still in the car’s storage box.
She reached over, took the bear out from a pile of odds and ends, and blew off the dust.
It was an adorable and cute bear, always smiling foolishly.
Seeing it, Jasmine Yale couldn’t help but smile.
"Miss Yale, this is the boss’s," Elder Axel saw she liked it, "if you like it, you can ask the boss for it."
"No, this is what I gave to him."
"Oh, I see."
"I’m going to take it away."
"Huh?" Elder Axel was stunned for a moment, "This, isn’t this inappropriate? Although it’s just a keychain, you already gave it to the boss. Will you inform the boss?"
"No need, he understands."
Jasmine Yale put the bear into her pocket and removed the red string from her left wrist, throwing it into the storage box.
The red beans on the string shimmered with a gleaming luster, like rubies.
Elder Axel watched, feeling apprehensive. What had happened? But he dared not meddle in the boss’s personal affairs, so he remained silent.
After removing the red string, the faint scar on her wrist was revealed.
Scars are difficult to erase, and after the wound healed, she didn’t specifically buy scar-removing ointment, so the mark on her wrist was quite clear.
She pulled down her sleeve to cover the scar.
The car sped along the wide, deserted road, the roadside trees quickly retreating.
Sometimes Jasmine Yale looked out the window, sometimes she closed her eyes, her mind not wandering to unnecessary thoughts.
Soon, the car stopped at the entrance of her residential area.
"Miss Yale, we’re here. Let me walk you to the building, it’s late."
"No need. Our neighborhood is quite safe. You go ahead. Thank you, I really appreciate it."
"No need to thank me, you’re too kind."
Jasmine Yale insisted on not letting Elder Axel walk her, so Elder Axel could only watch her as she walked into the residential area.
It was indeed very late, nearly midnight.
The dark night was deep, surrounded by endless silence.
