Chapter 108: Cheap tricks

Viola, who had been crouching beside Angela only a moment ago, suddenly cried out and threw herself off the stairs, making it seem as though Angela had pushed her. Angela was still clutching the hem of Viola’s dress, her hand outstretched at the very instant Viola fell, a perfectly framed scene that the Alpha came down just in time to witness.

Viola tumbled, scraping her knees and elbows on the sharp edges of the steps until she fell the rest of the way from the stair landing to the floor. However, unlike Angela, she sustained more bruises and cried out in genuine pain, a sound that immediately made Sebastian’s heart tighten, and in an instant, he was racing down the stairs to reach her.

"Viola!" he called as he went down two steps at a time, reaching her side in the blink of an eye.

Angela’s eyes rounded in disbelief; she was more than certain she hadn’t pushed the bitch and had only held her dress, but Viola’s fall made it appear otherwise, and the Alpha had witnessed it.

She watched as the Alpha brushed past her without sparing even a single glance, and Angela’s heart broke. Not willing to give up, she also cried out, "My leg hurts..."

If Sebastian heard her, he blocked her out as he pulled Viola into his arms, preparing to carry her to the healing house immediately. However, despite her injuries, she pushed his hands away and groaned, "Don’t touch me," there was anger evident in her voice that stopped him short.

Viola was angry because she didn’t want to be the kind of woman who had to scheme just to earn attention, and if it hadn’t been for his ’woman,’ she would never have resorted to such a cheap and undignified act in other not to get accused of something she didn’t do.

She couldn’t believe he was such a shameless womanizer that he had another woman among his own workers, couldn’t he at least have some class and maintain a sense of professionalism? Alphas didn’t sleep around with their house helps precisely to avoid future problems of jealousy and possessiveness... not unless that woman was also one of his many mates.

Sebastian’s hand froze mid-air as she warned him not to touch her. His expression darkened at the cold look in her eyes as she glared at him. Just a while ago, they had been talking and laughing in the dining hall, but in the matter of minutes it had taken him to shower and change, she had grown distant again. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Viola never intended to fight for his attention by throwing herself off, she had just wanted to make the stupid omega realize that resorting to such cheap tricks was lame, and that she herself had done far worse in the past and could still do it far better than her. As for Sebastian, he could believe whatever he wanted to believe, as long as he didn’t punish her for his other woman’s injuries. He wouldn’t blame her for Angel’s injuries now that he had witnessed the girl ’pushing’ her off.

Anger boiled inside Sebastian when Viola didn’t even bother to look at him and kept her eyes averted, and he let out his Alpha energy, forcing every single person there into submission. Knowing he couldn’t take it out on her, he turned his focus on the person who seemed to have been the cause of all of this.

Angela herself sat there with tears in her eyes, looking pitiful, but if there was any sympathy within Sebastian, it was reserved for the frail but stubborn woman next to him.

"What the fuck happened here?" he demanded, his voice cold, his silver eyes hardened.

All the workers bowed down, including Angela, whose palms had turned sweaty upon seeing the soft look in the Alpha’s eyes disappear. He had never looked this angry towards her before. Did he believe that bitch?

"I... she, I mean I was walking by when Miss Viola pushed me off the stairs..." Angela stammered, tears streaming down her face. "I even apologized to her, but she wasn’t satisfied and threatened to kill me if I told you that she pushed me off, Alpha...everyone here is my witness, they all saw her push me and threaten me."

The omegas who still believed Angela held some special place in their Alpha’s favor were quick to nod, murmuring their support for her claims without hesitation. If it were to be weighed who was more important to the Alpha, Angela had been with him the longest, "Yes, we all saw her push Angela and threaten to kill her," they echoed.

Sebastian heard this and turned his eyes to the woman beside him on the floor, whose expression had now gone blank. She didn’t even bother defending herself, only staring at the floor, leaving him to believe whatever he wanted to believe, causing his frustration to mount again at the fact that she had closed up to him after he had thought they were making great progress already and that very soon she would warm up to him and trust him.

Why did it seem like the little progress he had made had now been shattered again? He felt his insides burn with a sudden annoyance toward what most had caused his setbacks in a matter of minutes.

Sebastian didn’t care what the other omegas and even Angela herself said, what mattered was what he had witnessed: his mate getting pushed off the stairs in a way that made his heart stop for a moment.

He wouldn’t tolerate anyone hurting his mate or causing her to distance herself from him again in his own house. Not to mention, he had been kind to Angela because his mother and hers had been close, and anyone close to his parents naturally received his kindness.

He had noticed more than once how Angela gave him subtle signals: sometimes wearing short dresses with no underwear and purposely bending where he could catch a glimpse of her naked butt cheeks, sometimes even wearing transparent shirts without bra, and leaving her erect nipples. Sebastian had seen all of that but had overlooked it because of her sick mother, who no longer worked for him.

He had ignored many of her advances, but now it seemed the time had come to put her in her place; she had just crossed lines she should never have come close to. He had given her too much freedom, to the point she believed she could create false accusations to harm a future Luna without consequence.

"Deltas!" Sebastian called, summoning the werewolf patrol guards in the quarters, and they hurried to answer his command.

Angela was internally rejoicing, certain the Alpha believed her over the bitch, who she thought had tried to scheme against her, but the Alpha’s next order made her go pale instantly.

"Take Angela away, and remove every single worker present here. Hand them over to the punishment system house, and after Angela serves her sentence, assign her to work in the pack factory. She is no longer welcome here. Let her sick mother still receive the special benefits, but Angela and all the others here will never set foot inside my quarters again. Burn every single piece of jewelry and every dress she owns!"

Immediately upon hearing this, the workers all fell down, bowing their heads and pressing their foreheads to the floor in apology, as it instantly became clear they had wronged their Alpha.

Angela, who had been pretending to be so hurt she could barely stand, attempted to run to the Alpha to beg as well, forgetting she was playing weak, but the Deltas apprehended her before she could reach him.

"No, please! Don’t send me to the factory! I will apologize to the future Luna if it will make you happy! I am sorry!" she cried, knowing the factory was a harsh and dangerous place to work. She had enjoyed the luxury of her position here and couldn’t imagine being thrust into the factory!

Silver Pack has many factories within its land, where things were made and the machines and chemicals used there were strong enough to ruin skin and disfigure a person if they were not careful enough. Angela didn’t want to go there! Her dreams was here, with the Alpha!

She wanted to beg the Alpha and even the bitch who was the reason she was now being dismantled, but the Deltas holding her didn’t allow it. She was dragged away, crying and screaming at the top of her lungs.

"Forgive me! I won’t do it again!" she shouted, her voice echoing through the mansion. "Don’t do this to me, Alpha!"
