Fated: The Alpha's Unwanted Luna-Chapter 127: Breakfast together
Zoe was parting her lips to complain that she had been here for over an hour, but Sebastian gave her a warning look from behind Viola. She pressed her lips together in annoyance at his threatening eyes and the Alpha energy that filled the room and practically choked her, yet in the end, she was completely defenseless against him.
Not wanting to put Vee in an awkward predicament by revealing that she had been in the house for quite some time and had overheard their conversation and playful banter from downstairs, she chose to change her words instead.
"I just arrived. Remember I told you yesterday that I would bring the sample? Not only the sample, I also brought you those specialties I promised!"
Viola let out a sigh of relief, knowing Zoe had only just arrived. At the same time, her heart felt lighter at the thought that Zoe had brought the specialties she had promised her days ago. "Really? Did you bring everything?"
Zoe bobbed her head enthusiastically. "Sure I did. They’re in my suitcase along with the dress sample! Let me go bring them out!" She hurried out of the room, eager to escape the Alpha’s piercing gaze, because if looks could swallow a person whole, he would have devoured her for interrupting them. She giggled quietly to herself at the thought of how clingy he had been with Vee.
After Zoe left, Viola quickly slipped into the bathroom as well, afraid the Alpha might stop her or trap her on the bed again to continue a conversation about herself.
A few minutes later, Viola stepped out of her closet and found the bedroom empty. The bed was awkwardly made, with the blanket folded neatly instead of being spread loosely the way she usually arranged it. She adjusted the bedspread with a faint smile, having a strong suspicion that the Alpha, no, Sebastian, had made that poor attempt at fixing her bed, the very bed where they had slept together.
But the smile soon faded at the realization that he had left. The mere thought of his absence suddenly made her heart feel strangely heavy and sad. She quickly shook the feeling off and muttered to herself, "You don’t expect him to stay here when he has responsibilities."
However, when Viola finished arranging her room and stepped out into the living room to join Zoe, she was utterly stunned to find Sebastian cooking in her kitchen!
He was wearing an apron she hadn’t even realized she owned, and the sweet aroma of food filled the living room.
It was a sight to behold, and she couldn’t help but wonder if this would also become a habit. Wasn’t he a very busy man, being the supreme Alpha? Should he really be cooking for her? she wondered, biting her lip. But then perhaps it was his normal habit to cook every morning, and this wasn’t something he was doing just for her.
Viola had no idea that the Alpha rarely cooked for anyone and that he was doing this solely for her, so he could make sure she ate properly and didn’t skip meals, which would eventually cause her to lose weight and grow unhealthy. It was his quiet way of providing for his mate, since it seemed that his food was the only thing she accepted more readily than his gifts.
Viola went to try on the dress sample, and she loved everything about it and how Zoe was progressing the dress, even though it wasn’t finished yet. By the time she and Zoe returned to the living room, Sebastian was setting the food on the table.
"Can we eat in the living room so I can unpack Zoe’s gifts?" Viola requested politely, not wanting to sound demanding of him when he had gone through the trouble to cook for them.
Sebastian was quick to nod, flashing her a disarming smile as he said, "Anywhere you want, sweetie."
"Thank you," Viola muttered, a faint blush rising to her face.
Zoe watched the exchange in amused disbelief, as she hadn’t realized their relationship had progressed this much. When exactly had this happened? She couldn’t help the giddy happiness bubbling inside her at the sight of them together.
She could hardly wait to become an aunt to their future adorable pups. The mere thought made her want to jump with excitement, especially since she had already held on tightly to Sebastian’s promise that he wouldn’t hurt her Vee.
Though she was still terrified of the future and every challenge Viola might have to face, she decided she would try to place her trust in him once again. He had given her his word that Vee would not be hurt, and she chose to believe him. She silently hoped their future would be bright, filled with laughter and many little pups she could proudly spoil as their favorite aunt.
Not to mention, Zoe was secretly looking forward to the day Sebastian would open up to Viola enough to tell her where he went every three months and why he had once broken his promise to not kill his twin. It would be comforting to finally understand the truth. He might not tell her, but perhaps he would tell the mate he loved.
"Hermano, I hope you made my meal as well because I’m eating too. I haven’t had breakfast!" Zoe said, batting her lashes and giving her brother her cutest, most exaggerated pleading eyes.
"No. Go eat at your place. This is only for me and Viola," he replied flatly, even though he had actually cooked her portion as well. He was still mildly annoyed that she had interrupted his time alone with his mate.
"Vee, did you hear him? He wants me to starve! Tell him to be nice to me," Zoe complained dramatically, glaring accusingly at her elder brother. Now that she had Viola on her side, she possessed the perfect weapon to make him bend to her will.
Viola reached out and held Zoe’s hand gently before turning to Sebastian with a small, placating smile. "The food is more than enough for the three of us. Let her eat with us."
Sebastian didn’t waste even a second before giving a firm nod of agreement.
---
"Wow, you got this for me?" Viola exclaimed in delight as she unpacked Zoe’s gifts in the living room where they were eating, her heart swelling with gratitude and warmth.
Viola and Zoe were sitting on the floor while Sebastian sat on the couch, sipping his cold drink and watching the two women praise his cooking while unpacking strange little items from the many boxes his sister had stuffed into her suitcase for his wife-to-be.
It seemed to be a regular habit of Zoe’s, buying silly, unnecessary, and sometimes impractical things for the people she cared about. He remembered a particular memory of Zoe buying something similar for Evangeline, his second Luna, once. Evangeline had barely given the gift a second glance after forcing out a polite thank you, only to discard it carelessly on the couch as though it meant nothing.
Sebastian had been slightly pissed off at the time because he had clearly seen how hurt Zoe looked when her thoughtful gift was received with little to no genuine appreciation. From that moment on, Zoe never returned to the High Tower to visit Evangeline again, or even him. She barely called, and most of the time she didn’t even pick up his own calls.
For a while, Sebastian had quietly hoped that Zoe would stop the habit of buying unnecessary little things for people, thinking it would spare her from being hurt again. But it seemed she hadn’t changed that part of herself. And if Viola made the mistake of rejecting the gifts or failing to appreciate them, Zoe would undoubtedly be wounded once more.
Yet only a few seconds later, Sebastian found himself utterly unprepared for the sight before him. He hadn’t expected Viola to look so genuinely happy that she hugged both his sister and the gifts tightly to her chest, as if they were the most precious treasures she had ever received.
Zoe chuckled as Vee hugged her. "Hey, don’t get so emotional. I made a promise to get them for you, and I even had them customized specially for you."
"But they’re just too beautiful, Zoe. I don’t think I can ever use such beautiful parcels and phone cases," Viola muttered, smiling through tears at the set of parcels and phone cases Zoe had given her.
They were customized especially for her, with cute anime characters designed to resemble her, with her glasses and all. Only this version was far more adorable, complete with bunny ears and pastel details, including a small bunny-eared parcel she could use to store leftovers in her refrigerator.
Sebastian eyed the gifts he had initially considered useless when Zoe first unpacked them from her suitcase. He had actually been far more interested in the wedding dress, but as per custom, the groom wasn’t supposed to see the bride’s dress until the day of the wedding.
He had given Viola a priceless gift worth millions, something no average person could ever afford or even dream of touching. A limited-edition necklace that she had refused to keep. Yet here she was, beaming and getting emotional over a piece of... what he had considered junk his sister had brought?
He blinked, finding it strange that someone would prefer something cheap over something glamorous. What was so special about parcels and phone cases with bunny ears?
Sebastian was well aware that Zoe’s room was filled with all sorts of cute, girly things that she sometimes forced onto him, making him accept and keep them just to make her happy. He hadn’t known that there were still other grown women who liked such things, as all the women in his life before had preferred expensive jewelry over items like these.
