Chapter 173: Sensual night_Part 2

At Sebastian’s words, Viola stared at him with slightly widened eyes from where she lay on the bed. He wanted her to take off his clothes? She thought with pursed lips and a small, nervous gulp. How was she supposed to do that? But then if she didn’t, he would lie beside her all night in the same clothes Leni had pressed herself against him in, and she would have to endure an entire night inhaling the scent she despised.

She could tell him to go and sleep in the other room, of course, but she really didn’t want him going far away from her. She wanted him next to her. She wanted to feel this mate happiness and all its complex, overwhelming emotions before they disappeared come morning.

Viola’s body still craved and longed to be held in his arms, and to achieve that, and to ensure she could actually enjoy it without that torturing, foul scent of another woman irritating her all night, she pushed herself off the bed with a small, reluctant sigh and made her way around to stand directly in front of him, between his parted legs where he sat at the edge of the bed.

"Fine. I will take them off for you. I don’t want her scent anywhere near my things or my body, not even on yours. Now sit still." Viola grumbled as she reached out for his shirt buttons, a small glare in her blue eyes as she caught the glimmer of mischief and disbelief in his silver ones, like he genuinely couldn’t believe she was actually about to undress him.

Sebastian had said those words half expecting she wouldn’t go through with it, because knowing the woman he had married, she was a hard nut to crack and a fiercely stubborn little hellcat who wouldn’t do what she didn’t want to do, she would sooner pretend and bury her true feelings just to ruin his mood than give him the satisfaction. And yet here she was, jumping off the bed and positioning herself between his legs and slowly but efficiently unbuttoning his shirt.

Did she hate the scent on his body as much as he hated it himself? Watching how she had behaved all evening, Sebastian could already tell she was going to turn out to be a deeply possessive mate if her wolf ever awakened, and for some reason, the thought of her possessiveness sent a thrill of heat shooting straight through him and tugged a smile to the corners of his lips.

He watched her bend forward and work through the buttons all the way down to the last one with a look of deep concentration on her face, a small serious frown between her brows.

When she finished undoing the last button, she raised her eyes to look at him expectantly, waiting for him to take over from there. But if Sebastian understood what that look meant, he gave no indication of it and instead offered her a perfectly blank, clueless expression as he said, 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"Go ahead and remove it. Or is it fine if I just sleep like this now?" He questioned, looking up at her innocently.

Viola pursed her lips as she looked down at him, catching the barely concealed glimmer dancing in his eyes. He was making this difficult on purpose, she knew it!

She shifted her gaze nervously to the hanging, unbuttoned shirt. Undoing the buttons had felt easy enough, not so different from unbuttoning her own clothes, but actually making contact with his bare skin, and coming face to face with that ominous snake tattoo sprawling across his chest, made her inexplicably nervous in a way she couldn’t quite name.

But knowing that if she didn’t do this, her insufferable husband would lie beside her all night in those same clothes, she bit the inside of her cheek and reached out, grabbing either side of the open shirt.

She slowly drew it away from his hard chest, easing it back from his strong shoulders, and because he made absolutely no effort to help her by moving his arms, Viola had to lean further into him, pulling and tugging the shirt free from hard, muscle-corded, vein-lined biceps covered in the tattoo’s snake scale pattern that made her skin prick with awareness.

When she leaned in closer still to reach for the sleeve trapped beneath his hands where they rested flat on the mattress, she felt, with a sharp jolt of surprise, Sebastian’s nose graze against her already oversensitive nipples through the thin fabric of her pajama top, and she nearly lurched backward.

But the arm that had already slipped free of one sleeve came around her waist instantly, keeping her exactly where she was in front of him, his nose shamelessly and thoroughly buried between her braless breasts through her pajama shirt.

Caught completely off guard and flushed so deeply she could feel the heat all the way to the roots of her hair, Viola released the shirt and placed both hands lightly against his hard shoulders as though to push him back, looking down at the silver head pressed against her chest as she asked,

"Wh — what do you think you are doing?" Wrong decision to ask him that while his head was still embarrassingly exactly where it was, because the moment his lips parted to respond, the movement of his mouth grazed against her sensitive flesh through the thin fabric, tickling and sending an unbidden curl of sensation through her that made her toes curl against the floor and her fingers tighten involuntarily into his shoulders.

"I am taking in your scent to replace the foul one that has been clinging to me. It has been an exhausting few days leading up to our ceremony, meeting with Alphas, arranging further meetings, signing documents, I haven’t slept nor properly rested in days. I am simply trying to relax with my mate’s scent, love. And you smell like absolute heaven." He said, his voice warm and low and muffled against her as he drew in a slow, deep inhale that turned Viola’s face an even deeper shade of red.

She genuinely wanted to push him away, the position was mortifying, but then she found herself thinking about the faint dark circles she had quietly noticed beneath his eyes over recent days, and about the mate bond warmth she had felt earlier that evening that had calmed her mind so completely.

She understood, then, that she could do the same for him. And his words weren’t untrue, he hadn’t slept properly, not a single full night, not since the day he had last spent the night with her. She could attest to that personally from their nightly video calls.

A sudden, deep wave of tenderness washed over her, a feeling that reached all the way down to her core at the weight of how demanding and relentless his life truly was.

Letting out a quiet sigh of surrender, she stopped fighting it and allowed him to keep his face where it was. Then she slowly lifted her hands and threaded careful, gentle fingers into the silky, already disheveled strands of his hair, stroking from the crown all the way down to the nape of his neck in long, unhurried passes. She felt his arm tighten around her in a brief, involuntary squeeze, before he suddenly pulled her downward and sat her firmly on his lap.
