Fated to the Alpha–And His Triplet Brothers-Chapter 287: Kovu
*~Leon’s POV~*
Despite the warning of the demon about the forest of Varian, Lilith decided to dig more into the piece of information we managed to drag out of him, and then we finally got the location and possibly where Aurora could be. She turned to us and then she marked out the map, and Caspian picked up the map and then gazed at Lilith.
"Are you sure this is the exact location where Aurora would be?"
"I’m very much sure. The demon said she’s in the forest of Varian and according to the name it sounds familiar, and when I was in my prime I used to go around and it’s around— and I know someone that knows a piece of information. Yes, as I say, I clicked every puzzle together and I got this exact location and my information is on play," she said.
And Alice nodded. "Yes, I trust Lilith. Whatever she tracks down is always true."
Lilith then nodded back at her friend while Cayden collected the map from Caspian.
"Then that is it, we are going."
"Right now?" Hazel said.
"Yes, right now."
"But Cyrius has not arrived yet. I summoned him to come back home as there’s a little bit of information." She sighed.
Then Caspian turned to me. "This happens to Hazel. You know it’s not every time we have a situation you will go call Sirius, right?"
"I know, it’s just— what if all of us get busy? We need an extra hand."
Then Caspian raised his hand and Cayden did also.
"We have four hands available here. We don’t need six." Cayden grunted.
"Well, there’s never— we are never going to be complaining about too much hands," I said. "We really need Cyrius . And now that we found the exact location where Aurora would be, every single one of us will be leaving, and Cyrius will be in charge of the twins and the entire High House. We need someone to rule and it’s the perfect option because it’s just one alpha. It’ll be easier. I will not have to worry about the situation of things back at home," I said.
And Hazel nodded. "See? Leon gets it. We need Sirius."
"Yeah, fine, fine, fine," Caspian and Cayden nodded.
"Well, so what are we doing now?" they both said.
"The thing is," Lilith said, "we need to leave at once. Tonight, to be precise. The forest of Varian is not one easy journey. No wonder why he took all of my energy when we were transporting Aurora." She turned to Hazel and she nodded.
"So since you guys use magic, why can’t we also use magic to get there?" I suggested, and Hazel shook her head.
"No. Using magic would just completely drain all of us. It is definitely a bad idea for us to use magic to teleport ourselves there."
"Really?" I said. And Lilith and Hazel nodded.
"So we need to use road."
"Yeah. And it’s beyond fear if we teleport only one of us there and the one there will be waiting for the rest. It can take days, weeks, months," Hazel said.
And I almost lost it.
"Months? Weeks?"
"It’s just— it’s a lie, I’m just joking," she waved her hand. "But Lilith is right. We need to leave at once."
"Okay. So by evening, we should all be ready, and we shall be meeting downstairs at the center," Cayden said, and he looked at every one of us.
"Is it just all of us going?"
"Yes," Caspian said. "It would be a bad idea to involve any other person. We are enough. I mean, we have the Crescent." He pointed to Lilith, Hazel, and Alice. "We have Alphas." He pointed to himself and also Hazel. "We also have random wolves." Then he pointed to me and Cayden.
I scoffed.
"Random wolf?"
"Yeah. I mean, I don’t know where to class you in."
"You know you can just say wolf, right?" I corrected.
And he nodded. "Fine."
"Then we should all get ready," they said.
And then as we all disbanded, I was leaving the room. That was when one of the wolves stationed approached me.
"Beta Leon," he said, and I turned to him.
"What?"
"Someone wants to see you," he said.
"Someone?"
"No, no, it’s no worries. But one of the maids found the pet you and Lady Aurora brought into the meeting hall the other day. It is dead," he said.
And I blinked.
Kovu is dead.
And I can remember it came back weak from the mission we gave it last. But what—?
I immediately rushed to wherever he told me Kovu was, and I stood right in front of the dead body.
No way.
This is bad.
I turned. "Yes. Too bad we couldn’t save it, My Lord."
turned to the maids. "Go prepare a burial." She nodded, and then I controlled myself from letting tears fall from my eye. Aurora was so devastated to find out about this. Her precious Kovu, the vowed pet she took with her.
I followed the maid downstairs as they were digging the body. They were digging the hole on the ground while I just stood in front of it, controlling my emotions. That was when Lilith walked over to my side, and she turned to me.
"What’s happening? You should be getting ready. They want Hazel and Caspian to come and attack you for not being ready yet," she said.
And I shook my head. "No, definitely not."
"So what are you doing? Go get ready."
"Kovu died," I said.
Lilith’s brow furrowed. "Kovu? Who is that?"
Then I pointed to the cat’s body right inside the box they were about to put inside the ground, and her lips slowly parted.
"Oh, you mean this pet?" she said.
And I turned to her.
"Pet. This is not a real pet. I thought I told you and Aurora before. This is a form of sorcery. It was a sorcery-created spell."
Then I turned. "Do you mean you can still save it?" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Yes. But I don’t think I can trap it in the body of an animal again. The sorcery is already weak. It can’t work by itself again. It now has to be used."
"I don’t understand."
"What I’m saying is that I can remove the sorcery from this pet’s body and put it in a pot. Then, that way, you are still keeping the spirit of Kovu, and it’s still going to be alive for as long as you protect it," she said.
And then I nodded. "Can you do that?"
"Sure. Versa."
She snapped her fingers, and Kovu’s body slowly... a dark smoke slowly came out from Kovu’s body. And then the dark smoke was just hanging in the air, and she sent for a maid to grab her a pot, a very good one.
The maid came back holding a golden one, and then she trapped the smoke inside of it and then handed it over to me.
"That is your Kovu’s spirit. And so, can it still answer me like the way it used to?"
"I mean, it no longer has a body, but I feel it is now much stronger as it is now. It’s just that you will need power to command it, and you don’t cast spells, so I don’t really know," she said. "It depends on the spirit. If the spirit still wants to be alive, it will be. And if it doesn’t, then it will just remain in that pot."
"Kovu..."
I shook the pot, and then a dark smoke suddenly jumped out of the pot and then formed a lion, growling at me.
I jumped back, and she smiled.
"Oh, turns out this little cat still wants to be alive."
I smiled, and then I was about to catch it when it suddenly dissolved back into the smoke and then went back into the pot inside of it.
"Thanks," I said. "Aurora would be so grateful. I cannot imagine us finding her and then having to explain to her that Kovu is dead. It will haunt her."
She nodded. "Anything for Aurora."
Then she walked away.
Then I went back to my chamber and placed the pot right above the desk. My finger brushed it slightly, then I went ahead to start packing my things.
