Fated to the Alpha–And His Triplet Brothers-Chapter 292: White wolf
*~Leon’s POV~*
My group and I finally arrived at the perfect spot for us to rest. We have been trekking non-stop as our carriage stopped on the way. Unfortunately, Cayden forgot to tell the wolves back at home to feed the horses, and now the horses have collapsed on the way — and he was not even with us to bear the consequences, as we were sure his own carriage is still moving.
Caspian just kept cursing him all through as we finally found a large coconut tree for us to sit. Caspian was the first to crash down, while Alice, with the help of her spell, helped us gather water from the plants and niches all around us for us to drink.
Caspian drank the fourth round while Alice frowned.
"You know, if you keep drinking like that and I just run out of my powers, it’s not my fault that I am damn tasty."
"Well, it’s not also my fault that you are also tasty. My powers don’t need to suffer for it."
And she was mid-sentence when her mouth suddenly hung open. She held her stomach tight and she started shivering. Sweat was dropping down from her body. Her fingers started shaking.
"No... what’s wrong with me?"
I immediately rushed to her and I held her.
"Alice, are you okay?"
She nodded weakly. "It’s just... my stomach is hurting like crazy."
"Did you eat anything?" Caspian asked.
She shook her head. "No, no, I did not eat anything that can upset me. It must be Aurora," she said.
And my stomach flipped.
"What?"
"Yes. I connected myself to Aurora for me to know whatever she’s feeling and if she’s in any kind of pain. And I think she’s in pain right now."
"What could they be doing to her?" Caspian said, and my stomach shivered with the thoughts of Darius and co. doing something to her stomach. Her stomach for God damn sake.
Then we got her to sit down and I gave her my remaining water. She drank it and the pain relieved her — not because of my water, but because Aurora stopped feeling pain.
"What’s wrong?" she looked up. "I think Aurora is in trouble and we need to go there immediately," she said.
And we immediately began the journey.
Caspian grunted. "Oh, I think I’m a little too weak for us to proceed the journey right now."
"Well, Aurora is in trouble and we need to get to her as fast as we can," I said.
And he shook his head. "Damn Cayden, damn the demon, damn you, Leon, because you guys— because you take a huge fault in everything that is happening."
"Oh," I rolled my eyes. "Even though I had a penny for every time you guys blame me for this situation. I am not the moon goddess and I’m not the one making this situation very hard for us. It’s also hard for me as it’s hard for you guys. Even harder — the love of my life is right there in somewhere that I can’t possibly seem to reach anytime soon. And according to things now, her stomach is hurting her. God knows what those damn demons are doing to her and you guys keep blaming me."
Alice touched my hand and she gave me a supporting nod. "It’s fine. It’s fine."
We headed trekking until we reached a familiar city. Very familiar. I was looking around to know where I had been here before. At least I ended up here — until Caspian held my hand.
"Wait... isn’t that the city we found you and Aurora back then?"
And it clicked.
We’re in California.
What the hell are we doing in California?
I immediately used my hands to cover my face in case of anything.
And then Alice stunned. "Oh my God. Is that not posters of you and Aurora on the wall?"
I shifted my hands away from my eyes to see what they were talking about — and it was a huge painting of my face and Aurora’s face declared as wanted.
"Oh my God."
I immediately covered my eyes again as she said that. And then Caspian looked around and he smiled at a lady selling blankets. She smiled back, and then he blew her a kiss. She fluttered as he politely asked if he could take one of her blankets. She agreed, and then he wrapped it across me.
"What are you doing? Flirting with her, isn’t it?" I said. "I wonder how Hazel would feel if she heard this."
"I did that to save your damn life. Be grateful," he said as he pushed me forward.
We started walking — and then I saw a black cat jump out of nowhere toward me.
"Ah!" I said as I immediately let go of the blanket as it flew away from my head and I grabbed the cat.
I turned back to see Caspian and Alice looking horrified.
I turned around to see people gathered all around me. They figured out that I am Leon, the one on the wanted poster.
I immediately let go of the cat and I stood up.
"Hey, hey, I know I look familiar to that guy—" I pointed to the poster, "—but I’m definitely not him. I’m not."
"Grab him!" they let out a huge sound as all of them started approaching me.
Caspian immediately jumped in front of me and then hit the four wolves that jumped on me at once as they all crashed to the ground. Another one started coming— 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Versa!" Alice said as they all started levitating and their heads smashed towards each other like coconuts cracking on stone.
The wolves immediately knew that we were powerful, so they started coming in a large number, and I myself turned into my wolf form. My bones cracked, fur bursting out, claws stretching.
I growled, but before I even lunged, two wolves pounced.
I grabbed one mid-air and slammed it on the ground so hard the earth shook. The second bit my shoulder but I twisted and flung it into a tree. The tree cracked.
Alice was spinning spells like she was possessed. "Versa! Versa! Versa!"
One wolf flew into the sky. Another combusted into sparkles. Another slammed into Caspian by accident and Caspian roared, "Watch it, sorceress!"
"Then move faster, wolf-brain!"
Caspian ripped one wolf in half with his bare hands. He jumped onto another like he was riding it, punched it unconscious, and used its body to hit two more.
It was chaos. Wolves everywhere. Snarls. Screams. Magic.
I tore through a pack of them, blood splashing everywhere. Alice kept covering my blind spots, blasting wolves away every time one tried sneaking behind me. Caspian fought like he wanted to kill the entire state of California for existing.
Finally... finally...
Every wolf was unconscious. The street was a bloody mess. People hiding behind walls stared with fear.
Alice wiped sweat from her forehead. Caspian spat blood. I shifted back to human form, panting heavily.
"Okay," Caspian said. "We need to move before more surround us."
I nodded. "Let’s go."
We picked up the pace, walking fast... but the moment we reached the next corner—
We saw more wolves, and Alice released a sigh.
"Oh, please, I’m trying to reserve my powers, but guess I’ll have to waste it on this damn head," she said.
And I turned to her. "You are a Crescent, you can use your wolf."
And then she turned to me with a smirk. "Thanks for the good idea."
She started cracking her bones, as I and Caspian also started to shift. My claws were already sprouting, Caspian’s eyes glowing gold, Alice’s hair lifting like a storm was gathering inside her—
Then a figure stepped out.
Blonde hair. Blue eyes.
Absolutely ravishing that her beauty was confusing.
Is this a human? Or a goddess? Or what?
She wasn’t walking. She was gliding like she was born from moonlight. And then the girl—no, whatever she was—stretched out her hands, and out of nowhere, I, Caspian, and Alice all stopped.
We froze. Our bones cracked mid-shift. Alice’s magic sparked and died like a candle in rain. Caspian grunted as veins popped in his neck.
I felt my wolf retreating, choking back inside me like it was terrified.
"What... what’s wrong with us?" I managed to say as my knees buckled.
We were getting unconscious.
My vision blurred...My chest felt heavy, like gravity multiplied.
Then the people—those same damn people who were trying to grab me minutes ago—started screaming.
"ALL HAIL THE WHITE WOLF!"
Their voices echoed through the entire street like a war chant.
White wolf?
My mind barely formed thoughts before I collapsed. The world spun into darkness as I hit the floor first, then Caspian fell right beside me, and Alice’s body dropped last with a soft thud.
Everything went silent. My breath slowed. My fingers numbed.
The last thing I saw before I completely blacked out was the girl hovering over us, her eyes glowing bright gold like the full moon itself had possessed her.
"Oh... oh..." I whispered as darkness swallowed me whole.
