Chapter 64: Lily’s Ice cream.

"You seem to be in alot of thought." Theo pointed, glancing at her for a brief second.

"Could say the same for you." She said after sighing, glancing briefly at him as well. "Although, you seem to no longer be in thought. You done thinking?"

"Yeah, I am." He said nodding. "I’m sorry I ghosted."

"It’s okay. It can be like that sometimes." She replied, her eyes still taking in her surroundings.

"Soo.. you like what you see?"

"Yeah, actually. It’s.. it’s nice. It’s feels really nice to be here, feels like I’m in another world entirely. It’s very very different from the pack, I’m even getting used to their scent." She explained, smiling a bit.

"Yeah, it’s very different here. No one really cares about you here, unless you give them a reason to, or they feel they have to." Theo explained.

"Yeah, I noticed. All they did was compliment my outfit. It made me really happy. No one has ever done that at the pack." She pointed.

"Well, this isn’t the pack. But it can be like the pack."

"Really?" She asked with arched eyebrows. "They are so many, you can’t even count." She tried to explain.

"It’s actually possible to count, but would need more resources and all. And we are not so different from them actually. We are the way we are in the pack because, we are too familiar with each other, and over familiarity most times fosters contempt. So contempt is pretty normal in park life, you’d need to be very intelligent emotionally."

"Hmmm, okay." She said, nodding in understanding.

"Mmhm. But pack life doesn’t favour everyone. Some people are quite unlucky at it, especially when they think differently from the majority. It doesn’t make them emotionally dull, though. It just means their own people are yet to come. And it happens everywhere, even in human families, cities, countries, everywhere, Princess." He pointed out so she didn’t have to think she was emotionally dull.

He knew her story. Almost everything. And he knew very well just how judgemental people can be. Even though he saw their reasons for hating her as stupid and just a projection of their weaknesses, he didn’t see them as important.

Being a third triplet and an Alpha, he had heard tons of things about him, a lot of people discriminated him and his brothers, while some preferred his brothers to him.

Luckily, he had developed a very sharp, assertive and independent mindset, so he only heard and observed what people said and did around him, but never absorbed any.

And that was what he wanted for Beth. He wanted for her to not just be intelligent emotionally, but to be strong and smart as well. He wanted her to know that no matter what she did, or said; people would always be what they want to be.

"But do people really have to be that way? Do they have to judge other people just because they are not like them?" She asked, her mood abit deflated.

"That’s life, dear. It’s not really because they don’t like them. But we are naturally opposed to things we don’t understand." Theo pacified, placing his arm around her shoulders.

"C’mon. Let’s get our ice cream. There’s one last place I want to take you to before we go home." He said softly, pecking her forehead.

He led her into the ice cream parlor, a bell ringing above their heads as they walked in, gaining the attention of the attendant.

They walked to the transparent counter that housed their different flavor variants.

On seeing so many varieties, Bethany walked faster, ahead of him, to the counter, greeting the attendant absentmindedly as her eyes scanned the variants, wide as saucers.

When she was done, she turned to Theo, gleaming like a kid.

"This is so cool! I didn’t think it was going to look so good." She purred, her cheeks tinted as she blushed.

In a swift moment, Theo swiped out his phone, quickly taking a picture of her gleaming face.

"Hey! You’re supposed to ask for permission!" She whined.

"Come force me." He said, already sending it to the group.

She just hit his arm as hard as she could muster, before turning back to the attendant who watched them with a soft smile.

"Hi. I’m Bethany." Bethany said, arms crossed on the counter.

"I’m Lily. It’s nice to meet you, Bethany." Lily said without holding a breath, giving Beth a gleam of her own.

"It’s nice to meet you too, Lily. Your place is gorgeous." Bethany sweet talked, all her teeth on display.

Theo just leaned on the counter, watching Bethany do her thing, sneakily taking more pictures of course. Not entirely because he wanted to, but because Tristan wanted more.

"So, what would you like to have, Beth?. You have numerous choices." Lily pointed.

"I know right." She squeaked. "He’d be the one ordering, though. I only know three flavours, you have over ten." She said.

"Okay, then." Lily agreed, turning to Theo.

"Uhh..." He stuttered, sighing when he realized he wasn’t able to choose either. "Just give us a large bowl of your special. She has a sweet tooth." He ordered and teased Beth, who just smiled and shrugged.

"What can I say?" She said smiling.

"Alright then, large bowl of Lily’s special, coming right up." Lily said beaming, immediately getting to work.

Bethany watched her do her thing with wide eyes, while Lily enjoyed her audience, once in a while, telling her the various flavors she was mixing effortlessly, and even though Bethany didn’t understand shit, she just kept smiling and nodding.

When Lily was done with their bowl, she packaged it properly before placing it on the counter before them.

"Your order is ready." She said to Bethany who was beaming.

"Thank you so much, Lily." Bethany said, taking the bag, but it was collected by Theo who came to stand beside her.

"Thank you, Lily." He said, nodding lightly at the other woman.

"Anytime, Sir." She said, nodding. "Oh wait." She said, reaching below, taking out two small cups.

She filled them with chocolate chip ice cream, putting a bit of sprinkles on one of them.

"Here." She said, placing the cup before them, inserting two spoons.

"Umm, Lily, you didn’t have to. We already bought a large bowl." Beth pointed, looking abit solemn.

"No, love. That is for being my best customers this month." Lily explained.

"Are you sure?" Bethany asked.

"I’m serious. Your kind of people are hard to come by, so that’s my gift to you." Lily said, giving Bethany a kind smile.

"Thank you, Lily." Beth said softly, taking the two cups, while Theo slid her his card.

"Thank you too, Bethany."
