Chapter 89: Cabin in the woods.

"Sir, there’s a situation. We have to leave." A security detail in normal clothes said, coming up beside Theo, trying to ask as inconspicuously as possible.

"What do you mean there’s a situation, Samuel?." Theo spoke in a low icy tone, holding Bethany tightly against him.

"We spotted a group of men hiding in the crowd, holding small pictures of you. I think they’re either here to kidnap or ambush you, Sir." Samuel said calmly, despite Theo’s menacing aura.

Theo took deep breaths, thinking for a few seconds.

"Have you informed my brothers?" Theo asked. freewebnσvel.cøm

"No, Sir. We haven’t. We had to let you know first." Samuel said, a bit tentatively.

"Have someone call and inform them right now." He barked, keeping his tone really low.

"Yes, Sir." Samuel said, whispering into a minuscule radio.

"How do we leave?" He asked, subtly sniffing the air for sour energies.

"There’s a shadow door north of here. I’d lead you." Samuel said.

"Lead." Theo spat, already walking north.

Beth followed him silently, not remotely able to comprehend what was going on.

First off, they hadn’t come with any security, so how did the Samuel guy suddenly exist?

Secondly, why were they being chased? Why would anyone want to ambush them in an open place?

’Probably because they know he wouldn’t want to transform in an open space.’ Maria responded, a little antsy.

’But they could have done this in a parking lot or alleyway. Not in this kind of place, M. There are children here.’ Beth complained. She was having a really hard time understanding what the stupid hoodlums were thinking.

’Whatever it is, just stay calm. They’d protect us, that’s why you wanted a strong mate right?’

Bethany didn’t reply, she just turned her out.

They were now approaching a wall, and just as she was about to ask why, a portion of the wall opened, letting them pass into a very narrow hallway.

Samuel led the way with a tiny flashlight, even though she didn’t need it, and she was sure Theo didn’t as well.

They walked for a while then finally got to the end that opened into an equally narrow staircase.

Samuel kept leading, while they kept following quietly. She could feel Theo’s frustration building, the lower they went. Not knowing what else to do, she squeezed his hand, reminding him of her presence, hoping it was going to help because he helped her.

They’d finally made it to the end of the staircase and stopped before a red door that had a huge sign on it.

Apparently, they’d used a fire exit. Although honestly, she thought it was too narrow for such.

"Behind this door is a car and a driver waiting to take you out of the premises, Sir," Samuel said, not meeting Theo’s darkening eyes.

Bethany could only hope it was out of respect, or else ...

Theo just nodded in response and Samuel stepped aside letting them open the door.

True to his words, a black Audi was waiting for them. Theo quickly opened the door, letting her into the back seat, then shut the door, going to the driver’s side.

Seeing him come over, the driver immediately opened the door and stepped out, leaving it open for Theo to step in. As soon as his ass hit the cushion, he sped out of the parking lot and out of the area, causing Bethany to squeal briefly.

"Sorry, Princess." He muttered so low under his breath that she wouldn’t have heard if she was a werewolf.

"It’s okay." She managed to say, trying to keep her mind intact.

He drove around for some time, always looking into all the mirrors once every few seconds, making sure he wasn’t followed before driving out of the city.

Silence washed over them as their minds raced. Bethany’s wasn’t racing actually. She didn’t know what else to think other than how her quiet mate was okay.

Or was going to be.

They drove for a while, surrounded by nothing but very tall trees that provided shade from the fading sun rays until they got to a clearing.

Bethany looked out the window, her wolf suddenly prancing in joy in her head when they spotted two very expensive vehicles packed outside a very exquisite-looking cabin.

It gave a very sophisticated yet calming and homey vibe.

Theo parked in between the two cars, turning off the engine. He sat put for a few seconds, taking deep breaths, his gaze on the steering, but Beth knew his mind was far away.

"Will you be okay?" She asked, moving closer to him, rubbing her palm up and down his arm softly.

"Yeah. I will be." He said sighing quietly, squeezing her palm lightly. "How about you? Still shaken?" He asked, concern in his eyes.

’A bit.’ She wanted to say but reasoned that that was only going to add more problems to his plate.

"No. You were there with me." She said softly, kissing his lips lightly.

"Thank you." He said, releasing her hand and looking up to his worried brothers on the porch.

"We have to get out of they might get in soon." She joked, squeezing his arm a bit before withdrawing, heading to her door.

"Princess." He called just as she was about to open the door, causing her to turn back to him. "I’d take you there again, and this time, there would be no one there to distract us. I promise." He said softly, even though his eyes glinted fiercely, worry and anger swirled in them.

She wanted to tell him that she’d had enough and that he didn’t have to promise, but something in his eyes made her understand that it wasn’t just for her, but for him as well.

"I’d look forward to it." She said softly, giving him a small smile, opening the car door.

The delicious scent of her other mates found its way into her senses, already comforting her before she turned to them.

Without being able to hold back any longer, They came down from the porch, Troy running to her, while Tristan went to Theo.

"Princess." He whispered into her hair.
