Chapter 69

~Author’s POV~

Troy didn’t wait for Pen to respond. He ended the call immediately, tossing the phone onto the bed in frustration.

"Time to call this bitch and make her pay," Troy muttered darkly to the empty room. "Not only am I lying in a hospital bed suffering, but my father is ruined, and our entire livelihood is destroyed because of her. I’m not the only one going down for this."

He snatched the phone back up and dialed Silvie’s number. The line rang once before it was abruptly ended, sending him straight to a busy signal.

He called again. Ignored.

He called a third time. Ignored.

Finally, on the fourth relentless attempt, the line finally connected.

"What do you want?" Silvie demanded, her voice dripping with ice and absolute rudeness.

Troy scoffed loudly in disbelief. "You have the nerve to speak to me like that after everything you just did to me?"

"You are bugging me, Troy," Silvie replied flatly. "If this isn’t important, I am ending the call."

Rage exploded inside him.

"Important?!" Troy bellowed, ignoring the sharp pain radiating through his chest as he sat up. "Because of your stupid, reckless plan, I was nearly beaten to death by the Alpha Triplets! My father beat me until I was unconscious for three days! His company has taken a massive hit, he was exposed, and everything is going awry!"

There was a brief pause. Then she spoke calmly. "So? And how exactly is that my business?"

Troy froze. "What?"

"Yes," she continued, her tone completely deadpan and utterly devoid of sympathy. "Do I know you?"

His grip tightened around the phone as he screamed into it. "You bitch! You set me up for this! You gave me the files, you told me to post them, and now my entire family is suffering!"

"No," Silvie countered sharply, her voice turning lethal. "I did not set you up, and I did not force you to do anything. Your own greed and stupidity won the day. And besides, your father’s fall was his doing entirely. He was caught smuggling illegal drugs, Troy. It is no wonder the apple doesn’t fall far from the rotten tree."

"Why you—"

"Save your sorry tantrums for someone who actually cares," Silvie snapped coldly, cutting him off completely. "I hate dead weight. From this exact moment on, you do not know me, and I do not know you." Her voice dropped colder, sending a chill down his spine. "Do not ever call this line again."

The line went dead.

Troy stared at the phone in disbelief, his grip tightening as rage burned through him stronger than the pain in his body.

Everything was collapsing around him. And someone was going to pay for it.

Miles away, standing just outside the bustling coffee shop on their way to school, Silvie lowered her phone from her ear.

A cold, dismissive smirk played on her perfectly painted lips as she ended the call. Troy was a weak fool, a pathetic loose end she had cleanly and effortlessly severed.

Her eyes hardened, calculating her next move. She turned her head slightly, glancing through the large glass window of the coffee shop. Inside, Isadora—Jade’s supposedly loyal best friend—was standing at the counter, waiting for the expensive drinks Silvie had graciously treated her to before they headed to school.

Silvie let out a sharp, frustrated sigh.

"Seems I need to do better," she muttered to herself, her eyes tracking Isadora’s every movement. "I need to get her friend completely on my side. Then, I can use her to slowly get inside Jade’s circle and ruin her completely."

Unlocking her screen again, Silvie dialed her mother’s number. The line rang twice before it connected. Instantly, the cold, lethal edge in Silvie’s demeanour vanished, replaced by the soft, frustrated tone of an obedient daughter.

"Mum," Silvie complained softly into the receiver. "Xavier and his brothers cannot seem to leave Jade alone. No matter what I do, nothing is working. The rumours barely made a dent in their obsession with her."

A heavy, elegant sigh echoed through the phone. "Hello, daughter, nice hearing from you," Lady Autumn greeted.

Silvie groaned. "Mum, I’m being serious here."

"Doesn’t excuse your manners, child."

"Fine! I apologise," she threw her hand in the air. "Now, can we get back to me?"

"Yes. You only just got there, Silvie. Of course, a simple high school scandal would not work on the Triplet Alphas. You need to try better. You need to actively sow discord."

"How?" Silvie asked, her manicured nails tapping against her phone case.

"You need to spend time with them," her mother instructed coldly. "Remind them of your shared history. If words do not work, use your body. Drug one of them if you must, and fuck him. Make absolutely sure it is during your ovulation cycle so you can get pregnant."

Silvie inhaled sharply, a wicked thrill running through her veins at the thought.

"Out of every male in the werewolf and Lycan kingdom," Lady Autumn continued in her commanding tone, "they are the most eligible bachelors. And more importantly, you grew up with them. If you can trap even one of them, your position as the future Luna is completely secure. Just trust me, and we shall succeed."

"Yes, mother," Silvie agreed, her eyes lighting up with renewed ambition.

Suddenly, a loud car horn blared from the busy street behind Silvie, momentarily drowning out the call.

Her mother’s voice turned stern. "Where are you right now?"

"I am just outside the coffee shop, on my way to school," Silvie explained smoothly, watching Isadora pick up the two steaming cups from the barista. "Since Jade returned, she has been entirely too busy wrapped up with the Alphas, and she has completely neglected her only friend. Isadora will be my ticket straight into Jade’s life, giving me the perfect angle to ruin it from the inside."

A dark, pleased chuckle vibrated through the speaker. "Good girl," Lady Autumn praised. "We can be sure this will end in our favour."

Silvie frowned slightly. "And if it doesn’t? What if their bond is too strong to break naturally?"

"Then we resort to stronger means," her mother replied without missing a single beat. "Dark magic."

Silvie’s breath hitched in her throat. She glanced around nervously, ensuring no one was lingering near the side of the coffee shop to overhear. "Mum, is that really an option? It’s prohibited."

"And so is breaking mates."

"Really?"

"Of course not." Lady Autumn sighed. "No need for you to worry about that just yet. You have nothing to fear," she dismissed confidently. "First, use your charm on the brothers. And while you do that, orchestrate a scenario where her mates find Jade in a highly compromising situation with another guy. It would certainly spice things up and shatter their trust."

A cruel smile stretched across Silvie’s face. "Spice it up. Absolutely, mother. I know exactly what to do."

Just as the words left her mouth, the hairs on the back of Silvie’s neck stood up. She felt the undeniable presence of someone stepping up right behind her.

Before Silvie could quickly turn around and mask her calculating expression, Isadora’s familiar, curious voice broke the morning air.

"And what is it you are spicing?"
