Fated to the Triplet Alphas-Chapter 87: Raiden and Kael
**************
Chapter 86
~Kael’s POV~
The moment I stepped out of Alanna’s house to make that call, I knew I could not stay any longer.
Every second I remained there felt like wasted time.
Within minutes I was already behind the wheel of my car, the engine droning steadily as I drove through the silent evening streets.
The conversation with Alanna replayed faintly in the back of my mind. I knew what she meant, and the truth was, even though I had broken our relationship, my feelings remained.
They weren’t dead, just hidden, but right now I had a wife and my attention quickly shifted to something far more pressing.
Jade.
More specifically, the people responsible for hurting her.
That day when I received the video message about Jade being kidnapped, I could barely keep things down. Thankfully, she was safe. I knew the Alphas were her mate, thanks to my source.
But for them to go after Jade... no. That was uncalled for.
Those boys who had tried to harm her, something inside me refused to sit back and wait. I had immediately started searching for the boy I needed to find, using every connection I had through the school system and my own sources.
At first the trail had been cold. The boy had not returned home since the incident.
When I visited his house under the pretence of being a concerned teacher checking on one of his students, his mother looked exhausted and worried. She told me she had not seen her son in days and had no idea where he had gone.
That alone had been enough to make my instincts uneasy.
Fortunately, a few hours later, one of my informants contacted me with new information. According to the sightings they had gathered, the boy had been spotted entering an old warehouse on the outskirts of the city along with several other teenagers.
That was enough for me.
Which was why I now sat quietly inside my parked car across the street from the abandoned warehouse.
The building looked exactly like the kind of place small gangs would choose as a hideout. The metal structure was worn with rust along the edges, and the large sliding doors had clearly seen better days.
Through the windshield, I watched as two young men walked in through the side entrance before disappearing inside.
So the sightings were correct.
My fingers drummed lightly against the steering wheel as I observed the area carefully, mapping exits and possible blind spots in my head.
Just as I leaned slightly forward to get a better view of the building, a sudden knock tapped sharply against my driver-side window.
My head snapped toward the sound but before I could react, the door opened, and someone slid quickly into the passenger seat.
My hand immediately reached toward the gun resting beneath my jacket.
But I froze the moment the cold barrel of another gun pressed lightly against the side of my head.
"If I were a bad guy," the stranger said calmly, "you would already be dead, Beta Kael."
The voice made my brows pull together instantly. "Aidan?"
The stranger lowered the gun slowly before reaching up and pulling off the dark baseball cap and fake facial covering he had been wearing.
Long strawberry-blonde hair spilled free as he shook it loose, the strands catching the dim light inside the car. When he tilted his head slightly, his bright blue eyes gleamed with familiar mischief.
Without the disguise, Aidan looked exactly the way he always did—almost unfairly beautiful. His sharp features and delicate bone structure gave him the kind of face that could easily pass for a stunning woman if he wanted it to.
In fact, I had seen more than one man stare at him a little too long before realizing their mistake.
"What?" Aidan said with a smirk. "Miss me?"
For a moment, I simply stared at him. "But... Alpha Raze said he wasn’t sending you in," I finally said.
Aidan rolled his eyes dramatically.
"Yes, Alpha Raze told you that," he replied. "But all I really needed was your location and the assignment details."
He leaned back comfortably in the seat.
"And the moment I saw what you were walking into, I knew you lunatic wouldn’t be able to do anything without me."
I exhaled slowly before shaking my head. "Yeah," I muttered dryly. "And here I was almost glad to see you, Raiden."
He grinned and then at the same time, we both lifted our hands and our fists bumped briefly in greeting.
Then I focused again on the warehouse across the street.
"Sorry, Raiden," I said, nodding toward the building. "But tonight’s mission is simple. I just need to retrieve my source."
Raiden’s expression immediately turned serious. "There is nothing simple about this, Kael."
My brows furrowed slightly. "What do you mean?"
"You’re right about your source being here," he explained. "He is being held inside against his will." That made my grip tighten slightly on the steering wheel.
"But what neither your source nor the boys inside know," Raiden continued quietly, "is that this warehouse is not just a hideout." He pointed subtly toward the building. "This is where the drugs are actually processed and stored."
My eyes narrowed. "I thought that operation was happening in Delta X."
Raiden shook his head slowly. "That place is just a decoy."
He leaned slightly closer and tapped the dashboard lightly. "The real stash is here." A pause followed before he added one final detail. "And it is underground."
My head snapped toward him. "A fucking underground facility?" I asked sharply.
Raiden nodded calmly.
"Yep. Guards everywhere." Then he turned to look at me with a slow grin spreading across his face. "But the real question right now isn’t what we’re going to do."
Unable to stand the stalling, I asked, "What is?"
His blue eyes gleamed with anticipation as his tingle slid out slowly to lick his lips. "Are you ready to go feral on these amateurs?"
For a moment, I said nothing.
My gaze shifted back toward the warehouse, watching the rusted side door where the boys had disappeared earlier.
The building looked quiet from the outside, but now that Raiden had revealed what was really going on beneath it, the place felt far more dangerous.
An underground drug operation right under our noses.
I exhaled slowly and leaned back against the driver’s seat, my eyes scanning the perimeter again with sharper focus.
Two dim security lights flickered near the loading dock, and a beat-up van sat parked near the back entrance like it had not moved in days.
"Feral?" I repeated finally.
Raiden’s grin widened slightly. "Yes," he said simply.
I rubbed a hand over my jaw before reaching into the glove compartment and pulling out a small tactical flashlight.
"If there are guards underground," I stated thoughtfully, "then rushing in like idiots will get us killed before we even reach the stairs."
Raiden tilted his head, amused. "I knew you’d say that."
I glanced sideways at him. "So what’s your brilliant plan?"
He leaned forward slightly, his eyes gleaming in the dim light of the dashboard. "We don’t go in through the front," he murmured. My brows lifted. "We go in through the supply hatch."
And suddenly, this night just got a lot more interesting.
"And that’s why I like you, Raiden."
