Find a Troubled Girl after leaving the Guild-Chapter 407 - 226: Beneath the Tree Roots
"Go to Huanwo Village, then what?"
"I want you to meet Meimei."
At this point, Otto grew increasingly silent.
Li Ang wanted to ask what would happen after meeting her, as the information provided by Otto only added more mysteries to Meluna’s situation. There was no clue to solve the mystery.
But Otto obviously kept things unsaid and wanted him to reach Huanwo Village to reveal everything.
"I can make a trip." Li Ang said.
After cutting down the trees, let the members rest. Li Ang had no problem taking the opportunity to visit Huanwo Village.
"I owe you a favor for this matter. If you need help cutting down the Shipbuilding Treasure Wood, I can lend a hand."
"Well, that... I’d be troubling you then."
Li Ang originally wanted to say not to trouble him. Cutting trees is not an issue for a High-tier Sky Knight; it can be done easily.
A truly powerful Flying Airship requires many components, and good timber is just the foundation, which doesn’t cost much. It’s the subsequent materials that would require exorbitant expenses and a lot of effort.
He originally intended for the members to experience the process of building their own ship from scratch. This would give them a strong sense of belonging and achievement and serve as a training opportunity. They could eliminate Demons to enhance their combat skills while accumulating Water Attribute materials to deal with the mostly Fire Attribute Lupus Island Demons.
Usually, if Otto came, all the Demons emerging during tree-cutting would be dealt with easily like slicing melons, making the training meaningless.
However, with the abnormal Demon uprising on Mengze Island now, although the threat to Li Ang isn’t that great, having such a powerhouse beside him as a precaution is good.
With that said, Otto didn’t linger, bid a temporary farewell to Li Ang, and disappeared into the crowd.
Li Ang hadn’t expected to be involved with Meluna after coming to Mengze Island.
He sighed and returned to the inn.
The four young girls had already eaten and were chatting with the man they saved earlier.
Seeing Li Ang return, the man, his hair white and transitioning from middle-aged to elderly, stood up excitedly and came forward to shake hands.
The man introduced himself as Hode and then said, "Benefactor, I’ve already brought the Demon materials from the ones you killed. Please check."
Following the direction he pointed, Li Ang saw two sleds parked on the road outside, with various processed materials on them.
"No problem." Li Ang nodded at the man.
With his adventure experience, he could estimate the numbers just by looking.
"Many of the Demon meats can be made into Mengze Island’s specialty dishes. The innkeeper you are staying with is also my acquaintance; I’ve already given them to the kitchen." Hode said.
Zoe patted her belly, smiling, "We ate them all up."
The table was indeed cleaned of plates and bowls, which had become routine since ALulu joined the team.
With Mengze Island’s exceptional produce and the locals’ cooking expertise, their cuisine is a marvel. They clearly indulged and had smiles all over their faces.
Hode asked Li Ang, "Have you tried some of the Demon meats we don’t typically hunt? Should I ask the kitchen to make more?"
"I’ve already eaten, and I’ve had them before, no need to trouble yourself."
Li Ang, having come before and being a Sky Knight, could capture Demons the islanders couldn’t normally handle and collect their meat.
Hode continued: "I’ve also asked the innkeeper to waive your accommodation fees. You can stay here freely while on the island."
"We plan to head to the deepest part tomorrow."
"Oh, given your group’s strength, you indeed need to cut down trees and build a big ship. No problem, I’ll have my son take you tomorrow. This time, you can see our family’s giant serpent in action."
After Hode spoke, he took out a package and pulled out something that resembled silk.
"What’s this?" Dorothy was drawn to its soft, smooth texture and the breathing-like phosphorescence on it.
"This is the reward promised to you, the benefactors."
As Hode unfolded the cloth, everyone realized it wasn’t fabric but leather.
[Dream Lantern Skin]
[A leather material sourced from the rare Illusory Fish Dragon, containing abundant Power of Water and an everlasting bioelectric current. Suitable stimulation with Magic Power can change its color or even blend it into the surroundings]
[Tier: 6]
[Attributes: Stores powerful Water Spirit, color-changing]
[Purpose: Equipment Creation, Alchemy, Ship Reinforcement]
"This material is very rare." Li Ang said.
He knew about the Dream Lantern Skin; although its tier isn’t very high, its price rivals some Tier 7 materials.
It’s an excellent material for Casters and Agile Warriors’ equipment and, if it possesses enticing attributes, its value can multiply.
Hode, obviously knowing its value, had carefully tanned and preserved this piece of leather to demonstrate his sincerity.
"Oh, it’s nothing."
Hode displayed a hearty demeanor: "We live by the water, and Illusory Fish Dragons appear every now and then."
The Illusory Fish Dragon’s ecology is mysterious yet highly valuable. Its appearance invariably attracts local people and Sky Knights for a hunt.
Hode was well aware that Li Ang’s efforts during the earlier Demon tide to save him were worth the material.
Li Ang noticed Andasu seemed intrigued.
"What’s up?"
"It’s nothing. Just thinking how nice it feels to get rewards from helping others."
White Wolf slightly perked up her ears. In the past, helping each other among gang members was for her survival, and her friendship with the Liger Sisters could be considered a chance occurrence.
