Chapter 52: Desperate Battle

The larger you are, the bigger a target you are to your enemies.

Or at least that’s what should usually happen, Lucerne thought ruefully, as Rokar moved with uncanny speed towards her. Lucerne jumped to the side just as his fist made contact with one of the walls of the prison, cracking cement.

Finding his back exposed, Lucerne extended her fingers and shot out bullets of fire from each of them. The ten bullets raced towards the Mayor, but he didn’t even bother dodging them. Lucerne bit her lips in frustration as she watched the fireballs detonate harmlessly against Rokar’s back.

Endurance. And Resilience. Those were the base of Mayor Rokar’s power, Lucerne had realized. [[More Human]] didn’t just make the Mayor taller and bigger, it also enhanced all his physical attributes, including speed.

Which is how, even with a lumbering body twice the size of Jareth, Rokar was able to keep up with the movements of Lucerne. And how he was also able to utilise his strengthened body to block minor magik attacks like the fire bullets Lucerne just shot out.

Concentrating Lucerne increased the fire inatensity on her arms and legs. With [[Blazing Sun]], she was able to minutely adjust the power and intensity of the flames in seconds, but in a battle even seconds mattered a lot. She looked once over at Fiona. She was making sure to fight as far away from Fiona as possible, but still not too far that she wasn’t able to keep track of her location. Fiona was still lying in the corner of the cell where the Mayor had thrown her, crumpled up.

"Looking elsewhere is not the best idea during a fight you know."

Lucerne whorled around, but it was already too late. With impossible speed Rokar was right in front of her, and before she could block or dodge, he struck her right in the stomach.

The force of the impact knocked the air out of Lucerne, even through her armor. In fact the armor around her stomach cracked and shattered, as she was hurled backwards into a wall.

She could hear Rokar’s disgusting laugh, as she slammed against the wall, coughing up blood. But in that instant, that one moment where Rokar was the most unguarded, her right hand shot forward unleashing a column of flame towards the monster. This caught the Mayor completely off guard. He tried to dodge to his side, but wasn’t fast enough. The column of flame engulfed his right hand before he could react further. Even as Lucerne fell after the crash into the ground, she concentrated and increased the intensity of the flame to the maximum, savoring Rokar’s subsequent roar of pain.

She was only able to sustain the flame at its highest intensity for ten seconds before she had to shut it off, lest she run out of magik completely. Ten seconds were enough though. Lucerne unsteadily got up to her feet, and watched with satisfaction as Rokar clutched his right arm, now charred and burned beyond recognition.

"You bitch!" Rokar roared with venom in his voice. When he turned to face her, his eyes were full of anger and malice.

"I’ll fuck you up so bad. Fuck everything, I will tear your body to pieces." He continued, and then started running towards Lucerne, his right burned arm hanging limply on his side.

Anger could be a weapon, but Lucerne had learned long ago that fury was a hindrance. The one who won the fight was the one who stayed calm throughout.

And Rokar was no longer calm.

His previous strikes were carefully calculated, designed to strike where Lucerne would have the most trouble blocking. Now though, he was mad with rage and striking out extremely predictably. Even injured Lucerne could easily predict where his next punch or kick was coming from, and she piroutted and dodged almost effortlessly.

A flurry of blows followed, with Rokar continuing his attacks with no breaks in between, and Lucerne having to use all of her concentration to keep dodging, keep moving out of the way. She knew that if even one more of Rokar’s strikes connected, she would not be able to recover from that. No, she had to keep dodging and keep waiting. Waiting for another momentary lapse, another opportunity to counterattack. And this time she would burn his entire body up.

Rokar lunged at Lucerne, his left arm a blur as he unleashed a flurry of blows on her. Lucerne jumped back from the first one, and then ducked right in time as his fist swished over her head. Just as she thought she was safe though, she felt something collide with the left side of her skull and she was sent hurtling to the right. As she fell down, she could see Rokar’s legs closing in for a kick, and rolled in the air to her side to dodge it.

As she stood up, she figured out what it was that Rokar had hit her with.

The charred remains of his right arm!

So the mad Mayor wasn’t completely mad after all. He was using the one body part no one would expect to be used as a weapon. The smile was back on his face as he swung around his limp right arm again.

"Imagine this burned crisp of an arm in your ass. Great feeling now?"

"Fuck off pervert." Lucerne started running around Rokar. Her plan was seemingly obvious even to a child; go around to the Mayor’s blindside and attack from there. The Mayor however didn’t move from his spot, tracking the running Lucerne through his eyes. The moment she turned, he kicked at the ground on his feet. A burst of sand burst out from the ground, obscuring the Mayor’s view from Lucerne.

Preventing her from being able to approach.

Attacking at range suited Lucerne though. Fireballs shot of her hand, engulfing the sand and dust that Rokar had hidden himself in. However there were no screams of pain from within.

Lucerne sensed a shift in weight behind her, but before she could move, a huge hand appeared by her waist, pulling her in a bear hug. Her back collided painfully against Rokar’s bare stomach, and she coughed up blood as his arm pressed against her injured stomach. Before she could intensify the fire in her arms and legs and burn Rokar though, the latter had already released her. As she tumbled to the ground, she caught sight of Rokar’s leg hurtling towards her at breakneck speed.

Rokar kicked her in the stomach, hard. Blood gurgled out of her face and she was shot back, fast as a bullet, crashing violently into the wall. She tried standing up, but her legs gave way immediately and she fell down, clutching her stomach. The armor surrounding that part had been disintegrated completely, and Lucerne could see the slowly forming bruise on her stomach.

"Ooh little kitty cannot stand up anymore?" Rokar said, revelling in her pain. He walked forward slowly, his penis growing more erect with each step. The hanging organ, which had hampered Lucerne’s ability to concentrate on attacking the whole fight, now stood up straight.

Lucerne tried moving her fingers, her arms anything. But the injury was too heavy, her body protested and would not move yet.

Come on come on come on

Rokar kept advancing, slowly. Relishing her inability to do anything, but in his arrogance , also giving her more time to recover. Clearly he thought Lucerne couldn’t after taking two body blows.

A sudden explosion from far above caused both of them to jerk their heads up in unison. As Lucerne did though, she caught a moving shadow from the corner of her eye. Almost immediately she jerked her head towards that direction, and seeing her movement Rokar did the same.

It was Fiona! The wounded, defiled and abused girl jumped up with a roar, a final act of defiance, a short dagger in her hand. Lucerne didn’t know where she got the dagger, considering she was still naked, but that didn’t matter now. Rokar couldn’t believe it at first either, and thus was slow to react. Crucially slow.

Almost in slow motion, Lucerne watched as Fiona fell on top of the Mayor, her dagger piercing his flesh on the left shoulder. Fiona had obviously aimed for his neck, but Rokar had turned away slightly at the last moment as a final, desperate attempt at survival, and the knife had lodged itself on his shoulder, just beside the neck.

Rokar gurgled blood, and punched haphazardly in the air, desperate to get his assailant away from him. Fiona had given her all in this last, final, desperate attack, and she didn’t even bother to dodge, taking the brunt of his first punch straight on. She flew back and crashed with a sickening crunch against the prison wall.

Rokar himself wasnt any better off. The knife hadn’t pierced his neck but it hadnt missed it by far and it had gone straight through his body. Lucerne could see the end of the blade glistening with blood sticking out from behind the Mayor’s shoulder.

Come one, just one final push, just one final spell and he is done.

Lucerne willed all the magik, all the strength, all the resilience in her body. Fiona’s final act would be for naught if Rokar survived here. She raised her fist.

"Eat shit, bastard." She spat out, and threw a fireball towards the stumbling Rokar.

She saw Rokar turn around. She saw the fear for the first time in his eyes as he realized that he won’t be able to escape this fireball. She saw the desperation, and she relaxed almost involuntary, knowing the fight was finally over now.

And then the castle collapsed.
