First Demonic Dragon-Chapter 741: A New Mythos Pt. 3
"Now that the Shadow had his perfect relationship with eleven beautiful women, one would have thought that he would have been content. However, he still felt he was missing something."
"More women?" A student muttered sarcastically.
"I can see why you'd think that, but no. More than anything, the Shadow still felt as if he was lacking some sort of purpose or understanding. As if he hadn't yet seen all that there was to see.
This resulted in one of the hardest decisions of his life. He asked his wives and counterparts to wait for him while he went on a journey to experience the only corner of existence he had yet to experience: mortality.
He gave up his powers, his mind, and his body, and sent his soul out to find the best possible option for reincarnation.
Now, this is a really interesting bit. Supposedly, a demon was on earth at that time; walking amongst a fairly large and powerful tribe in southern Africa.
This demon has no name or description, but it is stated to have possessed three faces.
Because of that, many have surmised that this might be speaking of one of the biblical seven princes of hell; Asmodeus.
He impregnated two women at the same time, but they both gave birth to just one baby."
"Do you mean one each, or-"
"No, just one." The professor emphasized.
"How does that even happe-"
"I thought you would have learned after week one in my class that the answer to that kind of thing would always be 'divine interference'."
"…Fair point." The student nodded.
"As I was saying, the child grew up to be bigger and stronger than the rest of the tribesman of his generation. There are cave depictions of him hunting whole herds of buffalo and squaring off against prides of lions.
Later paintings have him depicted as hunting with two female tribesman. The symbol for 'blood' is inscribed whenever they are together, so we believe them to either be his mothers or possibly his siblings.
Together, they expanded their tribe far beyond their initial borders. There are actually some findings that make it seem like they may have even established one of the world's earliest monarchies.
They seemed to bring him various offerings and tributes ranging from fruits, to furs, and the best parts of animals.
But you want to know the most impressive thing? They may have even sailed. The Mayans have paintings of meeting a new, strong civilization with dark skin and red hair. Seems quite a lot like this one, no?"
One student posed a very good question. "So if these guys were so great, then shouldn't Nevi'im be the world's primary religion by this point? What happened to the Shadow?"
The professor scratched the back of his head. "Well, that's the thing... He kinda just left.
The texts depict the clouds opening up and a figure descending from the clouds- so more than likely a god of some sort.
It might be the original creator, or it could be just another random deity. But either way, he delivers a message to the shadow and returns it's original memories to him.
From there, it seems like the shadow gathers it's people in one place; offering them the chance to come with him to a land that was unlike any they had ever seen.
Even nowadays, not many would have refused that kind of offer. So as you can imagine, it was even less back then.
The legend goes that he turned his legions into the same kind of beast as himself, and blessed the small few who wanted to stay behind and tell the world of his messages.
It's said that he will one day come back to the earth during the end times, but he will bewearing a face that we cannot look upon and waging a war that we can't partake in.
After the world is baptized in his divine fire, the humans he finds pure of heart will remain unharmed and will walk into a golden age of mankind."
"That the end of the legend professor?" One student finally finished
"Officially, yes, but... There are certain theories that scholars across the world have developed. The Angel originally left the abyss because he felt he was missing something, right? So can anyone think of what he might have found?"
A trash-ass football player was picking his nose in the front row. "Oh, I don't know.. Family?"
"That's right."
"Seriously?"
The professor nodded. "These were perhaps the only thing that the angel was left without. Family and children. Unfortunately, the legends pretty much end there, so we never get any mention of his later activities, but... allow me to pose a hypothetical for a bit."
The professor clicked through several slideshows to go back to a previously covered unit.
"If you all recall, we discussed Apophis, the Egyptian Primordial Serpent. We spoke of how early civilizations depicted him coiling around the sun and dragging it to both halves of the world to create night and day.
It is stated that he has siblings, but their names are never mentioned. It is noted however that he came from the union of a beast and multiple mothers.
The only inference we can make around his family is that he is often visited by Nubia, The fellow Egyptian Goddess of Judgement, Nature, Peaceful Rest, and Charity.
This is strange, as the two of them are usually depicted as being extremely antagonistic to other deities.
And if you'll remember, her parents and family life are never really mentioned either. Only her wife and husband who come from faraway lands. The same goes for the snake, too."
The professor clicked through a few more slide shows and pulled up more statues of different mythological figures from different backgrounds.
"What's interesting is that there are many occasions just like this throughout mythology. Beings of great power with a minor, obscure mention of multiple parents.
Like the norse goddesses Thea and Thrudd, who, after being ridiculed for their non-native appearances by Norse deities, set fire to the hall of Valhalla and summoned their brother, the Death Dragon Niddhoggr, to eat every dead soul who laughed at Odin's jokes.
The goddess Thea also has a myth that depicts her helping a city of humans reach spiritual enlightenment.
She supposedly takes them into her own private domain where she rules with a gentle hand and guides them towards inner peace.
Or we could also take a look at the Greek monsters Typhon and Tartarus, who are said to travel to Zeus' lands every 100 years and destroy everything he's built as repayment for an old family grudge.
The infamous Inuit Ice dragon Iramira, who is supposedly the reason for the frozen arctic, is another example.
And for all of my devout Christians out there, I'm sure you both should be more than familiar with Livyatan and Leviathan; the twin sea monsters who swim endlessly through every ocean; hopelessly looking for the friends whom they cannot find.
The dragon serpent Ouroboros is also mentioned as having watched over the Garden of Eden forever at the behest of her caring father.
If you all recall, some of these creatures are said to wear different faces and go by different names when out of the view of others. If you ask me, those almost seem like family nicknames, no?"
The professor noticed a small disturbance at the back of his class and he shook his head in disappointment.
A young woman had her head slumped back as she lightly snored with her face pointed to the ceiling. She had pale skin with a slight twinge of pink in her cheeks, and underneath her coating of black lipstick.
Her hair was a long, sleek black styled in a ponytail with neat bangs just over her eyes. She wore a pair of oversized school track pants and a sleeveless crop top that showed off her prized arms. Both of them were completely covered in traditional Japanese sleeves.
"Miss Andrea... Miss Andrea!"
"H-Huh..?" The disoriented young woman sat up immediately and began looking around. "Is class over already..? I swear I was just resting my eyes for a minute..."
The professor rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"You kids are aware that you don't
have
to come to class everyday, right? Especially if you're having difficulty staying awake through the material."
Andrea rubbed her weary eyes; blaming her falling asleep on the lecture.
That's what happens when you tell people fairytales, they end up going to sleep.
"Ah... Maybe I should just try this all again on Thursday." Young Andrea didn't waste any more time and began packing her stuff up to leave.
The professor didn't even try to stop her, just reminded her to take a look at her online assignments as she walked out the door.
Exiting the auditorium, she made her way outside of the building and onto the quad.
Even though it was already 4:30 and the sun was starting to go down at this time of year, she slipped on a pair of dark shades over her blue-gray eyes.
"It's not really cold out this year for some reason... I can go and get a smoothie, right?"
Smiling to herself, the young woman made a beeline for the parking lot.
A sleek, black muscle car was parked all the way in the back; obnoxiously taking up two spaces so that no one would attempt to park near it.
Opening the door, she threw her stuff in the back seat and cranked up her engine.
Those both nearby and faraway would know that this car had it's mid-muffler deleted to make it even more obnoxious.
Andrea stepped on the gas as if she was in a series of famous car driving movies and drove off campus. Earning looks of jealousy, attraction, and ire, from anyone she drove past.
- 2 Minutes Later...
Andrea got pulled over.
It wasn't all that surprising, since she did tend to drive like a bat out of hell on the week days that ended in 'y'.
"License and registration?" The cop asked in a bored tone.
This was his third time pulling Andrea over this month. They were both tired of this back and forth by now. Discover more stories at novelbuddy
"Can't you just let me off with a-"
"Don't even try it, missy. Ticket."
"Tch." The young woman begrudgingly forked over the documents.
*...Snicker.*
"Come on, man. Are you fucking for real?"
The portly cop snickered. "Sorry, I'm just still not used to it. This is a really fucked up picture. I'll be right back, Miss Courtney."
