Chapter 2096 - Killed Instead

The gods were startled. Wait, there’s someone else hiding here?

Before Ferryman Mu Tianqi’s voice had even finished echoing through the air, mysterious lights appeared deeper into the ferry crossing.

Soon, a group of terrifying figures was headed their way.

There were seven of them in total, five men and two women. All of them were Fortune Realm Greater Gods!

“Ah, so it’s you, Brother Qin.” Ren Beiyou recognized the leader, an old man in old-fashioned robes and a tall hat, at a glance. He was one of the Qin Family’s higher elders, and his name was Qin Chongyang. He had extraordinarily high seniority.

Qin Chongyang said coldly, “The divine children can live, but Su Yi’s good fortune and treasures have nothing to do with you. Got it?”

Ren Beiyou and the others’ expressions darkened. They hadn’t anticipated this.

“Daoist Brother, we came here with a Three Purities Ancestral Talisman, and you agreed that so long as we worked together, we’d receive a share of Su Yi’s treasure. How can you go back on your word now?” asked Ren Beiyou. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Next to Qin Chongyang a short, fat man in golden robes couldn’t help but laugh coldly. “We’re only deigning to work with you on account of the talisman. We certainly don’t need outsiders like you to help us!”

A middle-aged woman in Daoist Robes said icily, “I urge you to give up. Just be good and wait. Do so, and you’ll be free to leave with your divine children. Refuse, and don’t blame us for our poor manners!”

Ren Beiyou, Buddhist Venerate Ghama, and the others’ expressions instantly turned even more unsightly. All of them were visibly enraged.

All of them realized what was happening. The Qin Family had used them, and now planned to throw them away!

But no matter how angry they were, they could only endure. This was, in part, because they were on the other party's home turf, but more than that, they were in a disadvantageous position. They had no choice but to lower their heads!

The entire ferry crossing was covered in mysterious and taboo Laws of the Grand Dao, and the ferryman was here to oversee things. Who’d dare try anything reckless?

Qin Chongyang arrived before Su Yi and said sinisterly, “And here I thought that terrifying existence had returned. So, you’re just a little worm yet to even become a god!”

He and the gods who’d come with him arrived before Su Yi, one after another, then looked him over without the slightest reservations. Many of them couldn’t conceal their greed. It was as if they were looking at a fatty lamb just waiting to be slaughtered.

Indeed, Su Yi was bound by chains of the mysterious power of the natural order. He looked like nothing more than helpless prey they could slaughter as they saw fit.

“Many thanks for your cooperation in capturing him, Brother Mu.” Qin Chongyang turned to face Mu Tianqi, then clasped his fist.

Mu Tianqi smiled faintly, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “No need for gratitude. In accordance with our earlier agreement, the Epoch Spark is mine. Everything else, you can divide as you see fit.”

Qin Chongyang’s companions' eyelids twitched, and their brows furrowed. They were obviously rather averse to the idea.

But Qin Chongyang himself didn’t even bat an eye. “But of course. Next, I’ll have to ask for your help with him.”

Mu Tianqi swept his gaze across the Qin Family experts. “All of you, step back for now.”

The group instantly moved further away.

Mu Tianqi, meanwhile, arrived in front of Su Yi and sighed. “Your Excellency, time changes all things. The Path of the Ancient Gods changed a long time ago, yet the moment you arrived, you chastised me in the name of the old rules. It’s truly ridiculous.”

Here, he laughed and pounded his chest. “To tell the truth, you really scared me earlier, Your Excellency. I almost thought you’d come prepared. But now, it seems... you really are just a pitiful, ignorant little worm capable of nothing but bluffing. You know nothing at all, yet you came here to throw your life away, but very well. If you want to die, this old man must oblige.”

With that, he raised his right hand into the air.

Boom!

The Three Thousand Divine Pillars rumbled and emanated mysterious, taboo energy fluctuations. The chains wrapped around Su Yi tightened, shining with resplendent light as they invaded Su Yi’s body.

The crowd couldn’t help but look eager.

But it was then that Su Yi, who’d been silent all this time, sighed. “How boring. And tedious.”

Numerous little blasts rang out in rapid succession as the chains around him broke, one link at a time, and shattered into a rain of light. A moment later, Su Yi came back into view, free of restraints and looking very much unlike helpless prey.

The crowd was stunned.

“How is this possible!?” Mu Tianqi’s eyes widened; he was so shocked that his eyes practically popped out of their sockets. Even if you’d hit him over the head, he would never have imagined that such a thing could happen.

“Earlier, I was just playing along. I wanted to see if you had any new tricks or not.” Su Yi shook his head. “Unfortunately, the results weren’t the least bit interesting. How horribly dull.”

Mu Tianqi’s expression shifted, and he broke out in cold sweats. Only he knew just how terrifying and taboo the Laws blanketing the ferry crossing were. They could threaten the lives of even Greater Gods!

Yet now, a young man yet to even become a god had broken through them! How could he be anything but surprised?

“Capture him!” someone suddenly bellowed.

Qin Chongyang and the other six Greater Gods of the Qin Family shifted through the air and charged at Su Yi.

Each was more ferocious than the one before, but...

They were still mid-charge when a heaven-shaking impact rang out. Countless chains of the natural order descended like divine whips, lashing the Greater Gods and sending them flying backward, their flesh in tatters and their blood splattering the air.

Everyone present was startled and horrified. They'd all seen it clearly. All Su Yi did was raise and swing his hand, but the Three Thousand Divine Pillars rumbled and released a power of the Laws of the natural order so mighty as to send all of them flying!

“Ol’ Mu, what the hell is going on here? Aren’t the Three Thousand Divine Pillars under your control!?” Qin Chongyang roared, visibly enraged. He realized that this didn’t bode well for them at all.

“I...” Beads of sweat formed on Mu Tianqi’s forehead, as if he’d seen something utterly terrifying. “I... I can’t control them anymore!”

Everyone was startled. What does he mean, he can’t control them anymore? Don’t tell me that Su Yi somehow wrested control of the pillars from him?

“You’re the ferryman of the Deification Star Sea, yet you knowingly violated the rules. Kneel and await punishment for your transgressions!” Su Yi said calmly. He raised and lowered his hand.

Boom!

An explosive waterfall of the natural order came crashing down, forcing Mu Tianqi to his knees. He couldn’t even lift his head.

This unbelievable scene made the others’ hearts thud in their chests. All of them panicked.

It wasn’t like they’d never seen the world before. They just knew that this was the ferry crossing, and that whoever controlled the power of the Laws here ruled these grounds. That in turn meant that they had dominion over life and death!

“Retreat!”

“So long as we get out of here, the Laws of this place will no longer be able to threaten us!”

“Hurry up and run!”

Qin Chongyang and the others turned to flee. They in no way dared to linger.

“The Deification Star Sea isn’t a place where you can come and go as you please,” said Su Yi.

His voice had only just rung out when the Three Thousand Divine Pillars rumbled, and a windstorm of the power of the Laws surged forth, blanketing heaven and earth and enveloping the entire continent-sized ferry crossing completely.

Bang!

A Greater God had almost reached the distant whirlpool-like exit when the power of the natural order swept over him. He immediately fell from the air and slammed to the ground below.

Soon, all of the other Greater Gods were on the ground too. It didn’t matter what wondrous arts of miraculous treasures they used. Beneath the suppression of the Laws, they were no different from ants trying to shake a tree. All of them were suppressed in the blink of an eye.

They hit the ground with such force that they saw stars, and agonized cries rang out.

Ren Beiyou, Bo Yun, and the others watched this all play out. All of them were completely gobsmacked.

The way Qin Chongyang had used them and thrown them away was deeply infuriating. Despite that, when they saw Mu Tianqi, Qin Chongyang, and the other Greater Gods suppressed, their hearts sank. They felt as if they’d been plunged into an icy abyss.

We’re finished!

They’d planned to feign cooperation with Su Yi while colluding with Mu Tianqi, Qin Chongyang, and the others to trick and kill Su Yi. They’d tried to gain an advantage, not realizing that they’d only suffer a complete loss!

It was like they’d tried to steal a chicken, only to fail and lose the rice they’d tried to bait it with!

“And what should I say about you?” Su Yi turned to look at Ren Beiyou and the others. He sighed. “I gave you the opportunity to work with me, but you didn’t cherish it. All of my good intentions went to waste.”

Ren Beiyou, Bo Yun, and the others’ expressions shifted erratically. Su Yi’s words were extraordinarily grating to the ears. He was obviously deliberately humiliating them!

“Quit ridiculing us! How could we possibly feel comfortable working with you?” Ren Beiyou gnashed his teeth.

“Had you worked with me, you’d have at least gotten some of the spoils,” Su Yi said casually. “What good has working with them done you?”

They were instantly at a loss for words. All of their hearts filled with grief. It was true! They’d been tricked. They hadn’t even considered the possibility that Qin Chongyang and the others would use them and throw them away!

Meanwhile, when they helped Su Yi kill Qin Tailei and the other Qin clansmen earlier, they really did get the trophies. By comparison, Su Yi was far more honest and generous.

Many of the gods suddenly regretted their choice. Had they continued working with Su Yi, even insincerely, they wouldn’t be in this mess now!

Alas, it was too late for regrets.

“They reneged on their promises, but you did too, didn’t you?” Buddhist Venerate Ghama suddenly roared, his eyes bloodshot. “You promised to let the divine children go when we arrived at the ferry crossing, but clearly, your word is worth no more than farts!”

Su Yi waved his sleeve through the air.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Jin Buyi, Mi Yeyun, Buddhist Son Lian Sheng, Feng Wuji, and the other divine children plopped to the ground.

All of them took in their surroundings in bewilderment. What exactly happened here?

“Look. They’re alive and well, aren’t they?” Su Yi said casually. “And once I’ve dealt with you, I’ll naturally let them leave.”

Buddhist Venerate Ghama was stunned.

The other gods were flabbergasted, too. It seemed obvious that they hadn’t really expected Su Yi to keep his promise.

“Would it be too late to change course now and keep working with you after all, Fellow Daoist?” Ren Beiyou couldn’t help but ask.

All eyes were instantly upon Su Yi.
