One by one, those hanging along the hallway quickly dispersed, terrified by the ominous and viciously enraged young man standing outside room ten.

Seeing Maria freeze at Blaze's rebuking glares made Tina smile in her heart. This was exactly what she was hoping for, - to create tension between mother and son.

Since she couldn't get Maria to like and forgive her, the only option left was to break the bond of trust between mother and son.

Breaking the deafening silence with her sniffles, Tina said in a trembling and broken voice.

"I'm sorry for everything I've ever done to hurt you. But I'm not a husband snatcher. I'm only trying to do what is right for a friend."

With that, Tina dashed off in the direction of the convenience, crying out her heart along the way.

As Blaze watched Tina run away, a part of him felt guilty for her pain. He shifted his gaze to his mother, who was still in shock due to the way he raised his voice at her.

"Mom..." Blaze's voice softened a bit as he gently approached her, angry at himself for letting his emotions get in the way.

Immediately, Blaze came within arm's reach, Maria impulsively lifted her hand and delivered a fierce slap across his cheek, taking him by surprise.

"Ah!" Judith gasped, eyes widened and mouth hanging open.

Even the bodyguard, standing watch outside Amelia's room was shocked to the bone by Mrs Anderson's action. He quickly lowered his head afraid of what the boss might do if he caught him watching.

Blaze's expression turned lethal as he stared into his mom's inflamed and moist eyes, anger coursing through his veins like a wildfire consuming everything in its path.

"Honey, I think we should go out and get something to eat," Hillary said, beckoning on his wife.

"Yes...yes, we should," Judith replied, hurrying over to her husband. They both quickly left as they had no intention of interfering in the misunderstanding between mother and son.

"You slapped me." Blaze managed to say in a repressed tone, gritting his teeth.

"Yes, I did." Tears of pain and regret flowed down Maria's face as she spoke in a greatly pained voice.

"The next time you raise your voice at me like that, I won't forgive you."

Maria wiped her tears with the back of her hand and walked away, disappearing into Amelia's room and closing the door quietly behind her.

Blaze stood motionless at the same spot, anger curling hot and unstoppable in his gut, like a blazing inferno that wanted to burn him from the inside out. He glared viciously at the blank white wall in front of him, fist clenched and muscled stiffened like iron.

This was the first time his mother had ever struck him and he saw the pain in her moist eyes.

Her hurting words, her tears and his promises to his dying father to never make her shade a single tear of regret, felt like dagger jabbing at his heart.

Blaze turned to look at the door, his eyes red and moist with fury. He knew his mom would be crying behind that door and he was the reason for her pain. He gnashed his teeth, his veins threatening to explode from pent-up anger.

A part of him wanted to walk out of the hospital and find somewhere to cool off. But the two women that mattered most in his life were in that room and he couldn't bear the thought of Amelia waking up and seeing his mother crying.

Pushing his pride and anger aside, Blaze walked up to the door and knocked twice before pushing the door open. He signalled the bodyguard waiting inside to go out before shutting the door behind him.

As suspected, his mom's head was resting on the edge of Amelia's bed and he knew she was crying.

Gritting his teeth, he clenched and unclenched his fist to release his guilt and frustration before slowly approaching her.

As he stared at his peacefully sleeping wife, warmth crept into his heart melting his ire.

Tilting his head back to his mother, he called softly.

"Mom."

"..."

"Mom," Blaze called again, placing his hand on her shoulder.

"Go away," Maria said in a broken voice without lifting her head.

Blaze went down on his knees beside her.

"I'm sorry, mom. I didn't mean to raise my voice at you."

"..."

"I know I messed up big time, mon. I broke the promise I made you Dad today and I'm so disappointed in myself."

"Don't..." Maria lifted her head to reveal her reddened and teary eyes. "Don't bring your father into this. Let him rest in peace. Probably, I should join him than watch my only child disrespect me before a woman who insulted me."

"Mom, please don't talk like that," Blaze said, taking his mother's trembling hands while holding back his own tears. "You know I can afford to lose you. You are all I have in this world."

"No!" Maria shook her head. "I'm not all you have." She freed one of her hands from Blaze's hold and took one of Amelia's sleeping hands into hers. "You have your wife. And all I want from you is to love her just as you love me. Is that too much to ask?"

Blade shook his head, lowering it.

"I don't want to see anyone come between the two of you. I don't want you to hurt Amelia. She loves you, dearly."

Blaze lifted his remorseful gaze to look at his mother as if shocked by her words.

"Yes," Maria gently stroked her son's right cheek. "She does. I've seen it in her eyes. I've seen the way the both of you look at each other. It reminds me of the beautiful love I shared with your dad before he left me forever. It's true love and I don't want you to take it for granted. Once lost, it is difficult to get back."

"Mom..."

"Shh!" Maria placed her forefinger on Blaze's lips. "All I ask of you is to stay away from that Tina lady. I don't want you around her. I don't want her around your wife. She is bad news. Haven't you noticed that every time she comes around your wife, bad things happen? She wants you back and Amelia is an obstacle in her way. Open your eyes, son. Keep her far away from you and your home. Focus on your wife and love only her. That is all I ask."

Blaze nodded, "okay, mum."

Maria leaned closer and kissed him on the forehead before hugging him dearly. "Thank you my son and I'm sorry for hitting you."

Meanwhile, inside the convenience, Tina celebrated her little success. She was slightly disappointed that the fruit gift basket didn't find its way into Amelia's room after all her meticulous plans to spy on the couple.

But she was glad that Blaze rebuked his mother for her.

Now all that was left was for him to come to her and tell her how sorry she was for his mother's abusive approach. Then she would activate stage two of her plan.

After retouching her face and covering the handprint with makeup, Tina walked out of the hospital with high expectations.
