It is a true saying that the consequences of anger are far more grievous than what caused the anger in the first place.

Blaze felt as though someone had ripped out his heart and left it under the scorching sun to wither.

The stinging slap Amelia dealt across his face was nothing compared to watching the level of disgust, bitterness and resentment in her teary eyes. It broke his heart into a tiny million pieces leaving minimal room for repair.

When he reached out to touch her, she shoved him backwards with all her might, hurling curses at him, her frail frame trembling vigorously.

"Amy, I'm sorry."

"You're sorry!" Amelia screamed in his face, her raging hormones fueling her anger, making her act wildly. "You call hurting my father an unfortunate accident. You are so heartless. I know you hurt him intentionally. You've always wanted to do that for a long time because you blame him for the death of your father."

"No."

"Yes, you do and now you succeeded in your wicked plan of getting your revenge on him."

"That's not true and you know it."

"I don't know anything anymore. I don't understand the man you've become. First, you thought I cheated on you after I gave you all of me. And now you've hurt my father, knowing fully well how much he means to me. How could you?" Amelia broke down in tears, covering her flustered face with both hands.

"My love..." Blaze ditched his pride and arrogance aside as he went down on both knees stretching his hand towards Amelia but she slapped his hands when he touched her.

"Don't ever call me that." Amelia rebuked him fiercely. "You never loved me. You never truly did. All you ever cared about was yourself and how much I pleased you in bed."

"No baby. Please don't talk like that."

"Let me finish," Amelia yelled at him, ignoring his humble posture and the brokenness in his eyes.

"It's partly your fault I kept my pregnancy a secret. God knows that I wanted to tell you as soon as I learned about it. I wanted to tell Mom. I wanted to tell my dad. I wanted to tell everyone around me. But I couldn't because of the contract I signed. I didn't want you to see me as someone taking advantage of you. But then I didn't get myself pregnant. You did. So why does my dad have to suffer for it? Tell me why?" She screamed, punching him on the chest as he wrapped his arms around her thigh looking up pleadingly at her.

"I'm so sorry Amelia. Please let me make it right. Let me take responsibility for my actions. I'm ready to do anything you want. Just say the word." Blaze begged.

"Anything?!" Amelia scowled at him.

"Yes baby, Anything."

"Let go of me and stand up."

Blaze did as Amelia instructed, keeping his hands to himself as he noticed the way she was glaring at him with disdain.

"Where is my father?"

"He is here in this hospital."

Amelia bit down on her inner lips, more tears flowing down her face.

"Where exactly?"

"Four rooms away from this."

"Okay." Amelia wiped her flowing tears with the back of her hands. "Take me to him."

"Are you sure that's what you want?" Blaze, asked, knowing it would only make things worse.

"I have never been so sure in my entire life until now," Amelia said spitefully.

"Okay. Let me take you first to the bathroom to wash your face." Blaze motioned to a closed door at the far end corner of the room.

"I said take me to my father and stop wasting my time." Amelia sneered.

"Okay, let's go."

When Amelia came out of the room, with Blaze leading the way, Judith and Eugene, quickly approached her, each one of them feeling guilty for not opening up to her.

"Amy, I'm so sorry for not saying anything about your father. Eugene and Henry begged me not to. They were afraid it would have a negative impact on your health and that of your baby." Judith apologized, clasping both hands together.

"It's fine, Aunty." Amelia embraces her aunt briefly while holding back her tears.

"Me too, sister-in-law. Please forgive me. I didn't mean to tell you all those lies about your father. Here is his phone. I kept it safely for him after the incident." Eugene handed the mobile device to Amelia who smiled bitterly as she received it while sparing Blaze a brief resentful look.

"Thank you, Eugene. You're such a gentleman, unlike some people."

Eugene smiled feverishly while staring at his cousin whose expression was blank and his body language unreadable.

"Where are you going, Amelia?" Judith asked slightly worried about Amelia's pale look.

"I'm going to see Dad."

"But he's currently sleeping. The doctor said he won't be awake for the next three to four hours." Judith explained in an attempt to dissuade Amelia from hurting herself any further.

"I don't mind. I just want to see him." Amelia replied signaling Blaze to lead the way.

"In that case, I'll come with you."

Eugene and Pascal watched all three of them leave for the senator's room, each man lost in their own troubling thoughts.

The lingering smell of antiseptic, with an undertone of artificial fragrances, greeted Amelia's nostrils as she stepped into room 9, where her father was currently bedridden.

Just as Judith had rightly said, the senator was sleeping peacefully, partially surrounded by the sound of different beeping medical gadgets strapped to his body.

His face was looking so peaceful and calm compared to the man who was squealing in so much pain during the accidental fall.

Amelia quietly approached his bedside fresh tears streaming down her face as she took his right hand into hers and whispered.

"Dad!"

When she got no response, she carefully adjusted the pillow under his head and pressed her quivering lips on his forehead. She also adjusted the white sheet covering his body and ensured everything around him was working optimally. Turning to her aunt who was standing and watching her speechlessly she said.

"I'll stay here with him?"

"Are you sure sweetheart? You know you need to be resting too."

"Don't worry, I'll be fine." Amelia smiled faintly as she pulled an armless chair close to her father's bedside and slowly sat down.

Without looking in Blaze's direction Amelia said coldly.

"Mr Anderson, your presence is no longer needed here. Please leave."

Blaze quietly left the room, knowing any attempt to reason with her right now would only make things worse for him.
