FLASH MARRIAGE; CHARMED BY THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE CEO-Chapter 323: Unrepentant Sisters 1
"Of course, how could I forget? We are all victims of your ruthless stepdaughter, Amelia." Pearl hissed like a snake.
"Do not mention that wretched tramp’s name ever in my face." Regina suppressed a growl, both her hands clenched into fists.
"Stop here." The lead female escort guard ordered drily as they approached the first inner gate.
Both women instantly halted, their quivering gaze shifting to the lead escort guard as the latter spoke into her radio device. They only relaxed when the guard instructed the person on the other end to open the inner gate.
As they waited, Regina tilted her eyes at Pearl, her gaze murderous.
"Seriously, do not ever mention her name to me again."
"Fine. I won’t." Pearl whispered back. "At least I can talk about your husband. I bet he is in one of those cars waiting. I can’t imagine the look on his face when he finally sees what he has done to his precious, beautiful wife."
"That bastard stopped being my husband from the moment he put me behind bars." Regina scowled, her already hardened facial features contoured in disgust.
"Don’t be so dramatic." Pearl nudged her sister on the arm. "You are still married to him. Irrespective of what he did, we both need him."
Regina raised an eyebrow in disgust.
"Easy, tigress. I was referring to his money." Pearl rolled her eyes, grinning. She could barely keep the excitement in her voice at the thought of returning to her life of luxury.
"Yeah, right!" Regina clicked her tongue.
"Trust me, I have no interest in him. I already have someone taking care of my needs."
"You mean a broke ass someone." Regina scoffed.
"Not for long." Pearl’s side lips curved in a wicked smirk. "I have plans."
"To become a second wife?" Regina mocked her sister.
"At least, I’m following in the footsteps of my big sister." Pearl retorted, sneering. "My dream is to become a legal wife just like you."
"Then get ready to play dirty."
"Dirty is what we do best."
Both women grinned at each other.
"Move." The lead escort guard jabbed Regina with her truncheon, irritated by their unrepentant discussion.
Regina glared at her but didn’t say anything as she was still within the prison facility.
"But seriously, sis, when we get out there, just pretend to still care about your husband. At least for the time being, until we find our bearings. Once we’ve gotten what we want, you can dump his sorry ass for any man of your choice."
"Hmm..." A sinister smile crept up on Regina’s face as she relished the thought of destroying her husband.
"So...what do you say?" Pearl pushed on.
"Sure, I’ll play nice."
The second female prison escort, following both women, shook her head in pity as she listened to their conversation.
Prison was supposed to change a criminal-minded individual’s perspective about their wrong choices in life. But in the case of these two women, it seemed it had only awakened their hunger to do more evil.
"They never learn." She mused under her breath.
"Open the gate." The lead prison guard escort signalled the security guard officer at the checkpoint prison tower as they all arrived by the gate.
"This is it. We are finally free. I can’t wait to get home and soak myself in a warm bath." Pearl whispered to her elder sister, tears of joy clouding her vision as she waited for the gate to open.
"Don’t get too excited. We may not have a home waiting for us outside this gate, thanks to that evil wretch." Regina snarled under her breath.
"Don’t be a bubble buster, sister." Pearl reprimanded, frowning. "Have a little faith. Gwen is out, and from our last conversation, she said your husband and his mother are throwing a welcome party for us."
"Welcome party my ass." Regina hissed.
The automated metallic iron gate finally creaked open, and both women were ushered out.
"See you soon." The lead prison escort guard grinned wickedly, bumping fist with her partner.
Regina and Pearl snapped their heads back in surprise, staring at the slyly grinning uniformed guards.
"In your dreams." Regina sneered, knowing they couldn’t hurt her now that she was out.
"I’ll be waiting." The lead guard stroked her truncheon, still grinning as the gate slowly closed.
"Let’s get out of here, sister." Pearl pulled Regina away from the gate toward the fleet of sleek cars, terrified by the prison guard’s wicked grin.
"Why isn’t Gregory or Gwen still coming down from the car now that we are out?" Regina whispered to her sister as they observed one of the bodyguards approach them.
"Don’t worry about it. Let’s just get out of here first. We could address that later at the mansion." Pearl replied, smiling sweetly as the bodyguard stopped in front of them.
"Madame Regina and Miss Pearl, please come with me." The senator’s head of security said politely, gesturing to one of the SUVS.
"It’s Mrs Regina Shawl, and I would like to sit in my husband’s car if you don’t mind. Which car is he in?" Regina’s eyes darted between the Black Rolls-Royce and black Bentley sleek cars with tinted windows.
"I’m sorry, ma’am. But you can either come with me or take a cab. These are the senator’s instructions."
"What?" Both women chorused, staring at each other in shock.
"My husband said I, Regina Shawls, should take a cab!"
"Sister, let’s just go with them. The comfort of an SUV is better than a cab, where everyone will get to see us."
Regina stared at her younger sister incredulously. She wanted to scold her for even considering such a ridiculous option.
However, one look at the mean faces of the new bodyguards and she instantly knew she was swimming in a new territory.
Taking in a deep breath, she said,
"Fine."
"Thanks, sis."
Regina smiled bitterly turning her attention to the bodyguard.
"Can I at least see my daughter and speak with her before we leave?
"I’m afraid, Miss Gwen isn’t present." The head bodyguard maintained his politeness even though his patience was running out.
"Gwen, too!" Tear pulled at the corner of Regina’s eyes. If anyone would treat her so poorly, she didn’t expect it to be her own daughter.
"Please, come with me." The bodyguard left for his SUV, signalling them to follow him.
Left with the choice of trekking the long dessert road in search of a cab going to town and taking an air-conditioned ride with her husband’s bodyguard, Regina opted for option number two.
While Regina and Pearl were driven home to the mansion, Senator Gregory made his way to the airport, where he had just received word that Matt and Desmond had arrived.
